Town: Bigbury-on-Sea is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is the perfect destination for a beach holiday. Dusted with sand and lapped by shallow waters, the beach offers safe fun for groups and children, with the well-known Discovery Surf School offering surfing and stand up paddleboarding lessons for all ages and abilities. In addition, Bigbury-on-Sea beach is lined with rock pools, so there’s plenty of entertainment for budding marine biologists. Windsurfing and kite-surfing are popular here, with hire facilities located right on the beach. Offering peace of mind, there are lifeguards present at Bigbury-on-Sea beach during the summer months (May to September) and the beach also has a first-aid room. You can even take your dog onto the beach, although they are restricted to certain areas during the summer. Bigbury’s most famous landmark is Burgh Island, which overlooks the beach itself. At low tide the island is accessible on foot, when the waters reveal a causeway that links it to the beach. However, when the tide is in you can still reach the island by hitching a ride on the unique ‘sea tractor’. Burgh Island boasts an Art Deco hotel, which was the setting for a famous novel by Agatha Christie. Explore the South Devon coast with its breathtaking sandy beaches and its beautiful coastal path or simply take time to visit some of the charming estuary towns and villages dotted throughout the area, such as Salcombe, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth. The city of Plymouth and Dartmoor National Park are also both within easy driving distance.

Lovely property, super views, great location for beaches.
The Sykes Cottage company had previous house managers on their contact list so I had to go round the houses to contact the correct lady, Laura who is brilliant at communication. Sykes had on their website that 3pm was the check in time but we were told when we got there that it was 4pm. Sykes company just need to tweak their info. Property itself superb superb size and lovely sized garden with great sea and sunset views, for me, my wife and 3 kids, 6, 13, 15. Property could do with a couple of minor updates, which may be in hand,, I.e a couple of blown double glazing panes that interrupt the main event, that is the views. Overall though we would definitely go back
Excellent property with good modern facilities and kept very clean.
