THE PROPERTY
The landscape surrounding the little hamlet of Gavignano is completely quiet and unspoiled, making a perfect setting for a country holiday, ideal for gentle walks and picnics. The towers of S. Gimignano are just visible across the valley. Podere OLiveta which translates as 'Olive grove Farm' consists of 5 different apartments which enjoy a pretty location up in the hills. Podere Oliveta is located in a certified carbon neutral area that means no air pollution . Each apartment has its own independent entrance and own garden area with barbecue. Much careful thought has gone into decoration, furnishing and ensuring the apartments are equipped down to the last detail. There is a swimming pool surrounded by a sun terrace which has stunning views overlooking the rolling olive clad hills, the sprinkling of cypresses trees and the majestic towers of S. Gimignano in the distance. Local wine and olive oil can be bought nearby.

Podere Oliveta is a good choice for exploring central Tuscany. The main attractions of the region can be reached very easily. The highway which connects Florence to Siena is only 3 km distant. And the villa's location only 3 km from the railway station of Poggibonsi is a good base to visit Florence and Siena even without a car: You can park your car in Poggibonsi (free parking behind the railway station) and take the train in both directions. During the week, trains to Florence/Siena and back go regularly (approx. every 1. hour). The train ride takes about 30 minutes to Siena and 1. hour to Florence. In Florence the train will take you to the main train station which is right in the centre of Florence - it is just a short walk from the station 'Santa Maria Novella' to the Cathedral or the Uffizi. In Siena the railway station is located approx. 1 km from centre, and you may have to take a bus to reach the old town on top of the hill or take the escalator.

THE APARTMENT
PETTIROSSO is the most inviting flat with its own quiet spacious garden with good tubs, furniture and barbecue and a private balcony. A green painted iron staircase leads up to the balcony, well equipped to eat outside or sunbathe. French windows open into the spacious bedroom, with wrought iron bedsteads and sunny yellow curtains and covers. The well fitted shower room is white and furnished with terracotta; and the very comfortable living room with a neat kitchen corner again opens onto the balcony. This is a secluded and charming place to stay.

Great stay in Tuscany

Property was just as described. Photos were accurate. Bare essentials for a stay as in most places cooking essentials are at bare minimum. But we got by just fine. Pool was a big plus after a day of site seeing. We hope to return some day.

Appartement agréable et climatisé en cette période de canicule, très bien situé pour parcourir les magnifiques routes de la Toscane. Piscine pour se rafraîchir en fin de journée au retour de nos excursions, plein de beaux villages à découvrir tout autour en plus des classiques de la région. On a adoré. Hôte charmant et très dévoué.

Perfekte Lage! Sauber, gut ausgestattet und geschmackvoll eingerichtet.

Perfekt gelegen für Touren in die gesamte Toskana! Trotz einer deutlich verspäteten Anreise mitten in der Nacht ist der Vermieter Fabio freundlich und hilfsbereit zur Schlüsselübergabe und Einweisung erschienen. Dank seiner Hilfe haben wie uns gut zurecht gefunden, konnten am Morgen direkt einkaufen (Zur Not hätte er uns auch das Notwendigste in den Kühlschrank gelegt!) und die erste Excursion starten. Selbst mit unserem Fiat 500 ließen sich alle Ziele wunderbar erkunden. Das Appartement ist sauber und gut ausgestattet. Die Betten sind bequem auch für große und schwere Personen. Im Bad mit wunderbar heißer, kräftiger Dusche gibt es sogar ein Bidet! Die Ausstattung mit Laken und Handtüchern (klein, mittel, groß x2 + Küchenhandtuch) guter Qualität ist ausreichend, allerdings empfiehlt sich die Mitnahme eines weiteren Lakens, wenn man die Tage in einem der tollen natürlichen Thermalbäder ausklingen lassen möchte. Die Heizung für kühle Herbstabende funktionierte tadellos. Frühstücksbalkon und Garten sind für 2 Personen perfekt ausgestattet. Die frühmorgendliche Abreise war wiederum dank des flexiblen Vermieters sehr unkompliziert. Der Pool war leider im Oktober schon geschlossen.

Lage des Objekts ist sehr gut.

Wir haben uns in unserer kleinen Wohnung sehr wohl gefühlt, der Pool ist sehr sauber und man hat von dort einen schönen Blick in die Landschaft. Florenz und Siena sind per Zug sehr gut zu erreichen. Um etwas einzukaufen braucht man ein Auto, ein sehr schöner Supermarkt ist nicht weit entfernt. Geschirr in der Küche ist sehr knapp aber ausreichend vorhanden. Der Vermieter Fabio ist sehr sympathisch und spricht sehr gur Englisch.

Sehr schöne, stilvoll eingerichtete Ferienwohnung für 2; mit Klima/Pool und allem notwendigen. Etwas abgelegen, daher sehr ruhig und dennoch zentral zu den Top-orten der Toscana: Florenz, Siena, Pisa. Sehr gut ! Und dann ein netter Verwalter, noch besser!

We liked the Tuscan style of the property and it was very spacious for 2 people.

The position of the property was perfect, ideally suited for visiting all the main places of interest. The pool was superb and had fabulous views of the area and San Gimnano. Fabio and his wife were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. I would recommend this property to friends and family without hesitation.

Wonderful stay in Tuscan countryside

Such a treat to have Oxford-schooled Fabio and French-speaking Annamarie as our hosts. Of course they both speak Italian. On the uppermost area there is an incredible large well-kept pool with roses galore and views that I couldn’t stop painting each morning. Evenings we sat there in the quiet to watch the long Tuscan sunset. 40 minutes by bus to Florence, but minutes by car to Chanti Country, Sienna, Volterra (our favorite hill town of all), and several other wonderful hill towns. The beds were quite comfortable; Kitchen well supplied. Everything was meticulously cared for, as were we. Each unit not only has a patio or deck with table/chairs but also a grass area with table, lawn chairs, b-b-q- - all of your own. In addition we used the picnic table far out near chickens for dinner one night, for a different sunset perspective. Most often in the evening Fabio would talk with us about our plans for the next day and how to make the most of it. I appreciated his local ‘political and community’ involvement and his stories of same. What a tale for my husband, an architect, to hear what it takes to get paperwork through the city of Sienna…or wherever. There are several different and lovely units to choose from, so review them all. Next time we may enjoy the centuries old cave structure. Each has character and lots of privacy. There is NO noise at night, but bugs and birds. Can’t wait to go back.

very good!

Our holiday at Pettirosso was good, it was comfy and quiet. From the village gavignano, we can reach firenze, sienna, san gimignano, montepulciano, montalcino, the vineyards in chianti. The nearest big supermarket is only 5-10 minutes away. The appartment looks just like in the photos at the homepage.
