We had a wonderful stay at La Fouillade.
The home was spacious, beautifully decorated and comfortable. The property and surroundings were beautiful. We would day-trip to various places in the region, then return to the house for dinner, relaxation and sleep. We had a wonderful stay. A true vacation!
A peaceful haven in the middle of the French Countryside
La Braguèse is a gorgeous tastefully renovated old stone house in the middle of a secluded valley. The pool area and games room were great for the children. There are several interesting villages and towns to visit nearby. You definitely need a car to access local facilities which are only a short drive away. We only stayed for a week flying into and hiring a car from Rodez and although it was during a pandemic we felt very safe and managed to relax and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. Thanks to the owners and caretaker who were very responsive and helpful
Belle maison bien équipée. Vue splendide, propriétaires et gardiens très disponibles. Piscine très agréable. Villefranche-de-Rouergue est une petite ville mignonne à proximité. Un excellent séjour que je referai avec plaisir
What a fantastic stay at La Braguese! We arrived at the house after a stress-free drive from Toulouse airport. Driving down the drive, the views were incredible. All of the instructions left by the owners made it very easy. The house is beautiful and very picturesque. We never got bored of looking out and taking in the fresh air. Gill and Ray the owners were very responsive to any questions we had when arriving and gave us plenty of recommendations. When going to restaurants, we booked two taxis from the guest book which was fantastic.. they were so reliable and helpful. We definitely recommend L’Univers for dinner. No-one in the group spoke very good French so the menu was a surprise but a delicious surprise. The kitchen in the house was fantastic for making big dinners and breakfast in the morning with enough space for all 8 of us to cook together comfortably. The pool was fresh as it was September but that didn’t stop us playing a bit of volley ball. Everything is well thought out with plastic glasses at the ready to enjoy a drink down by the pool. When it did start to drizzle with rain, we were able to enjoy a mini tournament of Darts in the games room. Table tennis was also great fun..be careful not to hit it too hard as you’ll have to run down the hill! All in all, what a fantastic weekend, we are already talking about booking back next year. A great reunion for us all to spend together in a beautiful French country house. Couldn’t recommend this place enough, it’s so peaceful and relaxing but with plenty to do. Could have easily stayed another few days…we had so much fun in the house, we didn’t get to explore France enough…so I guess that means we will have no option but to stay again!

About the host
Hosted by Ray and Gillian Ingles
As enthusiastic short and long distance travellers, my wife and I hugely appreciate staying in stylish, comfortable and clean accommodation, and so have high expectations of ourselves as hosts and seek to maintain high standards in our own properties.
We both love skiing, walking, dining out with friends and family, watching films, going to music concerts and getting involved at our local church.
Our life motto: be grateful for the blessings you have and treat others as you would want to be treated.
Why they chose this property
I have always loved France, having been brought up by parents who owned a property in Provence for many years. My love of the country, the culture and the language led me to want a place in France of my own, and that dream became a reality last year, when my husband and I discovered the Aveyron. We quickly grew to love this largely unknown, unspoilt, uncomplicated region. Truly beautiful, truly French. If you, like us, enjoy retreating to a place of complete peace, tranquility and privacy, a place where you can truly rest and recharge your batteries, then La Braguese is the place for you. Abounding in the beauty of nature, with eagles soaring overhead, deer bounding through the adjacent fields, cows mooing in the distance and owls hooting as you fall asleep gazing at starry skies, La Braguese is a heavenly escape from it all.
What makes this property unique
We love the fact that you have the best of both worlds here; you can enjoy moments of complete peace and privacy or, within a short drive, get involved with local village events or visit local attractions and sample the local food and wine that the wide variety of restaurants in the area have to offer. We also love the fact that the property is within easy reach (5 min drive) of a large supermarket and retail park, ideal when you just fancy another bottle of wine to go with your BBQ meal!
