About this property
La Latomia villa near the Greek Theater
Recently renovated villa surrounded by a well-kept garden of about 2000 square meters. The most interesting and unique feature is its panoramic position on the Latomia del Casale. The latomias are typical structures of the Syracusan topography that date back to the 5th century BC. c. used as quarries of stone in origin and subsequently as prison of slaves and progioneri of war. The house consists of a living area open to a kitchen equipped with all comforts, a large double bedroom with a spectacular view of the Latomia and a bathroom with a comfortable shower. In the living room there is a double sofa bed. On the outside the house has an open veranda set up with a sitting area suitable for eating outdoors with a BBQ. The house is a totally independent house in the garden of which the main villa dating back to 1869 is part. The Neapolis district where the structure is located has a vast archaeological area that preserves Greek and Roman monuments. A few steps from the house there are the Latomia dei Cappuccini, the most famous of Paradise with the Ear of Dionysus, the Greek Theater where every classical Greek ancient representations are staged, attracting countless spectators from all over the world, the Roman Amphitheater, the Hieron's Ara, the Archaeological Museum. Also within walking distance are the church of San Giovanni with its catacombs and the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Lacrime. A short distance away is the cycle path that runs along the old railway line, which can be traveled on foot or by bicycle about 7 km long and offers breathtaking panoramic views over a cliff overlooking the sea. The island of Ortigia is located at a distance of about 2.5 km from the structure.
