Magical Brittany

This is a unique and wonderful ancient manor house set in the countryside of Brittany. Sophie, the host is kind, responsive and thoughtful. The experience staying there is transformational, inviting you to enjoy a mystical part of France and feel a connection with it's past. We had a great time.

We had an amazing stay - it was perfect to celebrate a family birthday together. Sophie was very helpful during the booking process, and very accommodating with our different arrival times. The house itself was gorgeous! It is so beautifully renovated and full of character. You can see how much time and effort has been put into restoring it, and much more special than any commercial holiday home. We particularly enjoyed the peace and quiet and the beautiful garden, even into October, but the highlight of our stay was sitting in front of the enormous fire. We could not recommend enough.

Nous étions venus fêter 3 anniversaires en dizaine et voulions un lieu mémorable pour les grands et les petits. Et c'est le cas : la grande pièce à vivre, la grande cheminée du séjour, les salles de bain "à l'ancienne", la décoration chaleureuse qu'on verrait bien chez soi, l'extérieur qui invite à rester profiter des lieux.

Maison très spacieuse et agréable

Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour à la Motte. La maison est très spacieuse, et très joliment décorée. Elle est confortable et très bien équipée. L'accueil est très attentionné. La propriétaire fait le maximum possible pour bien préparer l'arrivée, et sa voisine qui gère l'accueil est très souple sur la procédure d'arrivée et de départ, ce qui a été précieux pour nous, car nous venions un week-end de pont, et qu'il y a eu beaucoup de bouchons sur la route depuis Paris. La région regorge de choses à faire et à voir. La situation de la maison nécessite d'être motorisée. En outre, séjourner dans la maison vous permettra de participer de façon très agréable à la préservation du patrimoine, et de découvrir l'histoire des lieux, très bien documentée dans la maison par la propriétaire.

Beautiful house in beautiful countryside

The house is amazing - so old and so unique. It is like living in a museum. Beware of low ceilings but totally worth it. The owner is extremely helpful and hospitable. House is equipped with everything you need and more.

A delightful sanctuary

We spent a month at the beautiful and historic La Motte, so we really got to know the property and surrounding sites. La Motte is as beautiful in person as it is in the photos, filled with interesting furnishings, lovely bedrooms with vintage linens, and a well-stocked kitchen. It was our home-away-from-home and we loved sitting outside in the evenings, drinking wine and watching the wildlife. We entertained friends from all over the world (but mostly the USA) and everyone without exception was taken by the sheer beauty of the manor and the tranquility of the setting. Sophie (the property owner) could not have been more helpful or kind. She arranged for us to have maid service, answered tons of questions before and during our stay, and addressed our concerns promptly (our only real concern was the trash recycling and disposal). This property might not be for everyone - it is a bit remote with about a 10-15 minute drive into Dinan (but for us it was perfect). However, it worked well for many day trips to great places on the coast. It would be perfect for family reunions or romantic getaways. We have plans to return next year! It is truly a magical place and we highly recommend it. Thank you, Sophie, for everything!

Terrific house in every way!!

We were a family of 6 adults and 4 children (ages 4-16) and we had an absolutely wonderful time. The house is great!! Terrifically equipped and furnished; we lacked nothing. Comfortable, spacious, lovely. The location too is terrific-just 3-4 minutes by car each way to two perfectly lovely, typical Brittany villages. Yet the surroundings are all countryside and beautiful. I have taken houses in Europe for the family many times in the past 10 years, so when I give high praise - I mean it and know how to compare! This was one of our very best! Galia (with Debra, Yuval, Doron, Ana, Eran, Omer, Indy,,Hudson and Oden (Israel and New York).

Luxurious rural retreat

What a magnificent house, although "house" is an understatement. This property was the highlight of our stay. It is outstanding architecturally and is decorated and equipped to the hilt. One lacks for nothing: multiple kitchen utensils and equipment, topnotch washer and dryer, fridge, and everything one would imagine for a dream kitchen. Monumental fireplaces, excellent mattresses and bedding, many, many beds! The property itself is in the heart of the countryside far from the madding crowd (and tourists!). What a perfect atmosphere after a long day touring Brittany to simply enjoy having wine and cooking intimate dinners in front of the fireplace! A beautiful retreat that we highly recommend. Sehr geschmackvoll und hübsch umgebautes historisches Landhaus.

Wir ( 4 Erwachsene und 3 Kinder) haben unseren Aufenthalt in "La Motte" sehr genossen. Das Haus ist gemütlich und gut ausgestattet. Die Lage hat uns sehr gut gefallen, absolut ruhig mitten in der Natur und trotzdem nur 10 km ins lebhafte, niedliche Dinan.

Tolles Haus - Super Lage

3 Wochen Juli/August 2014 6 Erwachsene 5 Kinder (4-8 Jahre) Wir haben unseren dreiwöchigen Urlaub in dem Haus sehr genossen. Am besten gefallen hat uns die außergewöhnlich sorgfältige und geschmackvolle Einrichtung der Räume, nicht zu vergleichen mit der lieblosen Standardausstattung vieler Ferienhäuser. Sonst noch gut: Große, sehr gut ausgestattete Küche Durch die Größe der gesamten Anlage und des Hauses gibt es ausreichend Rückzugsmöglichkeiten für alle. Viele Badezimmer Die abgeschiedene Lage garantiert absolute Ruhe, Kinder können sich vollkommen frei bewegen und niemand kann sich durch Kinderlärmen gestört fühlen. Zahlreiche Badestrände sind in 30-45min mit dem Auto zu erreichen, ebenso Rennes. Die gesamte organisatorische Abwicklung mit der Vermieterin war vollkommen problemlos und sehr angenehm. Wir können das Haus jedem nur herzlichst weiterempfehlen!

Calme, Volumes, Charme des vieilles pierres

Maison louée pour un grand weekend, 4 couples avec 7 enfants de 6 mois à 6 ans, il y avait de la place pour tout le monde, situation très calme, aucun voisinage, quelques balades à pied autour de la maison. Aménagement conforme aux photos et agréable. A conseiller aux amoureux des vieilles pierres.

Une super semaine!

Nous étions un groupe de 9 personnes compose de 4 adultes et 5 enfants et la maison était parfaite, exactement comme nous l'imaginions d'après les photos. La propriétaire a été très sympa de nous donner un tas de conseils pour aller faire nos courses dans les petits villages avoisinants et nous suggérer des balades forestières, culturelles et gastronomiques! La maison est très reposante et aussi très bien équipée, propre et de bon gout. Les déjeuners sur la terrasse sont de super bons souvenirs, et la mer est assez proche pour y aller tous les apres-midi avec les enfants. Les enfants ont regrette qu'il n'y ait pas de télévision mais ça s'est vite transforme en une opportunité pour tous. Super semaine, on a adore!
