The location of this property in Tavira is fabulous with walking access to the town's activities, restaurants, shops and ferry to the Ilha da Tavira Beach. Suzanna, the local contact and Property Manager was a pleasure to deal with, accessible, gracious and accommodating.
We enjoyed our time here, but there are a number of things that are not clearly represented on the listing, that for us, brings the score of this listing down.
First, the air conditioning is only in the main living/kitchen area. There is no benefit of the AC to the bedrooms as there are only fans in these spaces. Second, all of the "beds" are not beds they are all simply uncomfortable cots. Yes, I did say uncomfortable cots, thin mattresses on springs. Third, parking is an issue. There is a misleading review reply from the owner that parking is included, make no mistake parking is not included. The listing says "parking" as an amenity, which is also misleading. You will have to find and pay for parking each day. Lastly, the keys and locks caused some issues, leading us to be locked out of the building multiple times and on one occasion the apartment for over an hour because the key did not work properly. This was finally rectified by Suzanna late one evening who graciously came over to open the apartment for us.
We are not a high maintenance family and did enjoy our time in Tavira so don't want to come across entirely negative. This property is ideally located with simple comforts. Be prepared to find parking, not sleep well and bring your own household items eg. towels, dish rags and toilet paper, which is not realistic for a family travelling from abroad for a vacation.
