Window On The Otways is in the stunning Pennyroyal Valley on the edge of the Great Otway National Park in the Surf Coast Hinterland. It is a leisurely 15 minute drive through beautiful forest to the vibrant coastal resort town of Lorne and the iconic Great Ocean Road.
BUSHLAND DELIGHTS
The Otways are a treasure trove of natural delights. From beautiful native vegetation to abundant wildlife there is so much to be seen from the comfort of your Studio. At dawn and dusk kangaroos and wallabies often come to feed nearby, eagles soar overhead daily, while koalas and echidnas are frequent through harder to spot visitors. Tiny protected native 'chocolate' bats often shelter in the eaves of the cabins and at dusk fly with much delight. Watch the sky change with the sun rise and set from the balcony (or bath!), the morning mists rise in the valley below, rainbows arc brightly across the forest, and the moon turn everything to silver when it is full. Be mesmerized by the incredible magnitude of the stars in the sky away from city lights. Listen to the songs of the forest, far away from traffic noise. Soak up the kind of relaxation only nature can provide.
There are a large number of wonderful waterfall, rainforest and coastal walks in the area, a copy of Walking The Otways is in each Studio for your reference.
PRIVATE FOREST
The 26 acres of bushland on which Window On The Otways is built, is a private ecological sanctuary managed for conservation purposes. It is bushland of environmental significance and part of a large water catchment area. The property is owned and managed by our small family. We are dedicated to the protection, rehabilitation and restoration of this precious once logged forest. We plant hundreds of native trees and shrubs every year, work hard to remove weeds and fix erosion, and provide natural habitat for endemic species. We live here full time and deeply love this forest. We hope you will love it too.
The property is steep ground and unfenced to allow for free movement of wildlife - it is not suitable for guest recreation. However there are a multitude of wonderful walks and adventures nearby, and the road that the property is located on offers a very enjoyable and safe forest walking experience right at your doorstep.
CLEAN OPERATION • Cabins are deep cleaned between bookings – fresh aired, hepa vacuumed, linens hot washed, and all surfaces (including kitchen, bathroom and bedroom walls, switches, handles, and aircon filters) fully disinfected between guests. We use highly effective and eco-sensitive cleaning products by Method, Organic Choice, and TriNature
BUSHFIRE SAFETY REQUIREMENT As a rural property in a bushfire risk area guests must be aware that the CFA require the property to be vacated by all inhabitants under catastrophic bushfire conditions (a full refund for any nights impacted will be issued).
For your added security, this property is only managed in Australia and we never request payments be made to overseas bank accounts. We are a small family offering boutique bushland accommodation in an area that we love and live in ourselves.

So relaxing
Great feel to the studio. Very well appointed with thought going into guests needs and pleasure..... amazing bread and jam!
Great to spend time in rainy weather cuddled up in front of the fire looking at the amazing view.
Property is tidy and well kept, there is an abundance of consumables on offer from toiletries and food/condiments and the owner is very communicative and willing to assist.Couples will love the privacy and intimacy this accomodation can provide and is not far from many activities and the Lorne centre. If it wasn’t for my partner and I’s passion to explore what else this beautiful country has to offer we’d definitely return again.
Spent a lovely weekend at Window on the Otways. We were after a secluded spot not too far from Melbourne and this property ticked all the boxes - private, amazing views and a short hop to any number of great hiking trails and Lorne. The property itself is cosy, well appointed and the hosts generously provide complimentary treats for your stay. Highly recommend.
The property was lovely, cosy, clean and had magnificent views over the forest. We were woken up with the view of the misty morning, half a dozen wallabies grazing just outside the bedroom window. The bed was really comfortable, generous supplies of kitchen and bathroom amenities...... very happy.
We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay at this beautiful property. We had no choice but to relax and soak up the incredible nature that surrounded us. The host Claire, could not have been more thoughtful in her communication and all of the little extras that awaited us in the cabin, from bath salts to essential oils and beautiful local produce for breakfast, we felt thoroughly spoilt. Thank you Claire for a wonderful stay :)
This property is lovely, everything you need for a relaxing weekend away.

Perfectly appointed couple's retreat on the fringe of the Otways. My partner and I will definitely be back, and we're still on cloud nine after a wonderful few days in heaven. It was lovely to be woken in the mornings by the sounds of nature, and we simply could not ask for anything more.
Claire is so lovely and really makes you feel at home. There are so many beautiful touches that really just add that extra bit of something special. The view is so peaceful and relaxing. Does not disappoint!
