We had a wonderful , peaceful stay at the cottage. The only issue was that it was too short but I will stay again. John and Peter are very lovely people and make great hosts. They make themselves available if you need anything. The grounds were awesome, just so pretty and I took quite a few photos of the scenery to use as reference photos for my artwork. I loved the cottage it was so peaceful

Absolutely Beautiful
my family and I stayed here over the ANZAC long weekend and cannot stop thinking about Hermitage. The property is vast with lots of walking and farm experiences. The cottage is delightful and my boys absolutely loved the fireplace. Thank you John and Peter for your kindness and hospitality. As a family it was a well earned break from Sydney and we will be back to hear those amazing bellbirds.
Not as expected. Nothing was clean and the entire place and everything in it needs serious cleaning.
I picked up a glass and it was grimy and sticky.
The kitchen had a musty smell.
I opened the 'guest guide' and bits of cheese fell out.
We expected to be able to use the wood burning stove as it was very cold and were told it wasn't available for use.
There are large gaps around windows&doors making it freezing cold as well as having so many uncleaned cobwebs and spiders, even in a box of tissues.
There was an electric oil heater in the bedroom which was totally inadequate particularly with big gaps and draughts in the house.
The 'generous provisions' described in the listing consist of used jars of peanut butter and jam. We opened the jam and it had mould in it!!
We also had the owner walking in while we were trying to sort some dinner, came into the kitchen and proceeded to get dog food from the freezer and leave again.
The doors here don't lock so this was a weird interruption to have.
The bathroom is accessed via going outside and crossing the verandah and has no lock. It had huge gaps in the ceiling full of cobwebs, and the shower curtain had black mould on it, which was the final straw for me. I chose not to shower in this place.
We were meant to be staying for 3 nights. After one freezing night we got up early and left without showering in that dirty bathroom, finding somewhere normal to stay.
I'm sorry, but this place is in no way suitable to be rented out.
Great meeting you both – I, and my friends, are captivated by your property, its history, the interesting conversations, and your generosity as hosts.
I love the cottage, setting, and the wonderful change of pace it provides.
All the best to you both - i will be back
John
We loved our stay but had believed the property was fully fenced for dogs but that was not the case. It was just the most beautiful location with the most stunning gardens. John and Peter was wonderful hosts we would definitely recommend it. Perhaps my only comment would be was that the kitchen could do with a few more dishes and utensils
Had a most relaxed and enjoyable three nights in quaint cottage splendour. A short drive into the village, beautiful scenery to wake up to each morning and courteous friendly hosts made this the perfect get away from city life (while only just outside it). Highly recommended getaway.
The property grounds we nice to walk about. The hosts were really attentive and communicative.
The only downside we had was that cleaning could be greatly improved. Spent good part of one day removing webs that appear to have been there.for weeks, dusting walls, ceilings and windows. Even the bin of the bathroom hadn't been emptied from the previous tenants and the pan needed to be rewashed before being able to be used. Kitchen counter tops were very sticky so had tondo a good scrub. The property also allows pets which is great but the couch has a dog smell and the carpet is covered in dogs hair.
Other than that the little cottage is comfortable and great to see a 104 property in that state.
Thanks for having us.
Thank you to our host for the loveliest stay. We really need to unwind and that’s exactly what this place will do to you :) we loved the long walks and the pups had the most amazing time. I’m sure the poor cows don’t miss them at all :) thank you again!
John and Peter (along with Topsy and Jellybean) are the warmest and most welcoming hosts and we enjoyed their company immensely. The cottage is really nice, cozy, well stocked and located on a beautiful property with cattle, deer, wallabies and great views. This has been our favorite place to get away for some peace and quiet and we look forward to our next visit. Thanks John and Peter!

We had a wonderful weekend in a warm, cozy 100 year old cottage near the village of Kurrajong. The cottage is clean and well stocked and has a wonderful garden. Peter & John are excellent hosts.

Awesome holiday
My sister and I are from North Queensland and stayed at the cottage for 8 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The cottage was very comfortable, set on a beautiful property with everything we needed for our stay. It was such a joy being able to have family come visit and be able to cook for them. Peter and John were quick to help with any request and made our stay that little more special. Thanks again for a wonderful time. Lou and Celie

Bed & Breakfast
The continental breakfast cereals we had to choose from was out of date, some packets were open also the jams had been used before. Yes it is an old place but it was dirty. The best part about our stay was the view

A beautiful city escape
We just spent the ANZAC long weekend at Hermitage and what a magical escape it was. Thank you to our hosts John and Peter for their hospitality and for sharing the wonderful history of the property. Our sons thoroughly loved the farm and especially the opportunity to enjoy a fireplace. Comfortable accommodation and well equiped for a family get away.

Perfect weekend retreat
This little slice of heaven was exactly what we needed. My husband, our puppy and I needed a break away from the hustle of city life so booked a 2 night stay at Hermitage Cottage and we are so glad we did....it was perfect. I didn't want to leave! The cottage was country quaint and comfortable with everything you need for a relaxing stay. We loved the beautiful walks on the private land and the cosy log fire in the evenings. The scenery was absolutely stunning. John and Peter were great hosts, lovely people who made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be back. 10/10!
