PROPERTY SETTING:
Hidden Valley Retreat Cottages is conveniently close to Sydney yet you couldn’t feel more removed from the hustle and bustle of daily life once you arrive. Set on 40 acres of pristine land near Kurrajong, in the Hawkesbury area, we are tucked away in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. This is the perfect place for anyone looking to relax in the peace and tranquillity of the rainforest, listening to the birds and the running water of the creek. Take a walk to enjoy the natural beauty of the wild, bushland that abounds, sip fine wine picked up on your day’s travel into the valley or sit by the open fire listening to your favourite music; do as much or as little as you like.

THE COTTAGE:
Magnolia Cottage, named after the glorious Magnolia tree beside it, is a traditional settler-style log cabin with two bedrooms (a queen and a twin). Fresh linen and towels are provided and the beds have electric blankets. There's a basic kitchenette and private BBQ to cater for a simple meals. The cottage boasts open fire and air-conditioning/heating as well as a double bath with jets. Looking out over your vast front yard of an acre or more you can see the birds flit across the sun bathed lawn. A stream passes by the cabin and the sounds of the small waterfalls are heard throughout the valley.

THE PROPERTY:
Magnolia Cottage is one of five secluded, private, self-contained rustic cabins, each in their own separate area of forest on the property. They are available individually or as a group for up to 24 people. A tennis court is available for use up at the main house.

Pets welcome by arrangement.

SIGHTS:
Nearby attractions include the beautiful botanical gardens of Mt Tomah, quaint Kurrajong village, Richmond markets and the historic Windsor all within 10 to 30 mins drive and well worth a visit. On our doorstep are two World Heritage National Parks, the Blue Mountains and the Wollomi, not to mention the Grose River ideal for a simple swim, or the mighty Hawkesbury River for more.

We had a great stay at Magnolia Cottage. It was really very cute and old fashioned, but also clean and comfortable. Well stocked with everything we needed for our stay. The kids loved having campfires and exploring the nearby creek. The spa bath was also a hit! Fiona was excellent to communicate with and Mike and the dogs gave us a warm welcome the day we arrived. Highly recommend for a disconnected weekend not too far from Sydney!Also for families with young kids, the Australiana Pioneer Village is less than half hour away and was a great day out.Thanks Mike and Fiona!

The perfect "Digital Detox" escape for nature lovers and dog owners!We just had the most incredible stay at Magnolia Cottage within Hidden Valley Retreat. If you are looking for absolute privacy and a genuine escape from the city, this is it.The rustic cabin is tucked away within a stunning 40-acre rainforest property. It felt completely secluded—we couldn't see any other cabins and truly felt like we had the entire valley to ourselves. Waking up to the sounds of the bush was magic, and we spent hours on the veranda watching the birdlife across our private acre of lawn. With no phone reception, it’s a total digital detox, which was exactly what we needed to unwind.It’s also rare to find such high-quality, pet-friendly accommodation. Our dog loved having a massive yard to explore. While it’s not fully fenced, the natural bush boundaries kept him contained while we relaxed—though his guard dog instincts did kick in when he spotted someone riding a horse in the distance!Highly recommend Hidden Valley Retreat Cottages for anyone looking to recharge with their four-legged friends. We’ll definitely be back!

My family & I had a wonderful getaway in this rustic hidden cottage for the weekend - exactly what we needed to rejuvenate & relax in the nature that surrounds the cottage! Great for a digital detox

We (2 adults and 2 dogs) enjoyed our stay. Accommodation matches the description and photos. You can't see the other cottages so there is a sense of privacy. There is no internet, phone or TV signal so its great for digitial detox. The cabin had tonnes of DVDs, some books and games to keep you occupied. There is a great dog friendly swimming spot a short drive away.

Beautiful, secluded cabin

It was amazing to reflect that this property was only just over an hour from Sydney. It felt like we were hours from anywhere. We had a great weekend swimming in the river, tasting gin and picking fruit. The cabin was extremely comfortable and had everything we needed and the surroundings were just spectacular.

What an amazing place!

Couldn’t have been happier with our stay at the beautiful Magnolia Cottage, hosted by Mike and Fiona. Cabin was full of rustic charm, and surprisingly well insulated through the colder nights. Our dog probably had the best time exploring the property and jumping in the creek, and the kids loved running around and collecting firewood. Was a fantastic break from the city, easily accessible yet felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. Easily one of the best vacation rentals we’ve stayed in, will definitely be back!

Want a get away from Sydney.

My friend and I needed a break and get away, from the fast pace of Sydney and work. Well we got it, peaceful, relaxed our 3 dogs loved it, all the essential items were there, just bring your food, could have stayed longer. Our host Fiona was fantastic, any inquiries needed, she was more than happy to answer. We will definitely be back next year.

We had a terrific time at Magnolia Cottage. It was a really cold weekend but we had air conditioning and a fireplace to get cozy. Nice also to have an electric blanket for sleeping! The surrounds were perfect, absolutely peaceful, lots of birds and the sound of a running creek. Facilities were great. No TV (although there was one we didn't use it!) or internet but some signal for our Telstra mobile when we needed it. We had a great bbq and ate outside on our last night. Highly recommended.
