Situated half way between Cottesloe and Scarborough and only 12 kms into Perth City Centre, Fremantle and Hillarys Marina. It is in a quiet tree lined street, only a short walk to the Beach, local restaurants and the natural bush of Bold Park. Minimum stay is 3 nights. The apartment has its own entrance, all at ground level with a sheltered rear courtyard, surrounded by a beautiful garden. We are opposite City Beach Tennis Club, where visitors are welcomed, either to enjoy organized club play, or just court hire. Wembley Golf Course is only 5 minutes by car, with 2 x 18 hole courses. The local shopping centre is just 3 minutes drive away, but if you are arriving at night, we can arrange for the basics to be in your fridge. Set in a beautiful tree filled garden, with your own courtyard, and outside setting for alfresco dining. With an outside folding kitchen table, most of your cooking can be done on the electric frying pan or mini BBQ, but with 5 beach side restaurants, all within walking distance, why cook? You are supposed to be on holiday!!

We had a wonderful stay with our 2 friendly and excellent hosts who did everything to make us feel at home. We had a rainy few days but the very beautiful outdoor area had enough cover for us to sit outside, which we appreciated.

A spacious and extremely comfortable apartment with every convenience provided. The City Beach location provides walking access to beach and restaurants. Very thoughtful hosts.
Clean spacious flat with large outdoor area . Had everything we needed, owners were friendly and offered their assistance at any point ( not needed). No issues with booking and check in.great location near city beach and to cottlesloe, Scarborough and a short drive into the city .,so perfect for touring around
The Gums is a small apartment with everything a couple could need - well equipped kitchen, generous living area, access to a patio, and comfortable bedroom. The hosts were super helpful, and there are nearby walks to beach, restaurants and cafes.
Had a lovely long weekend stay. Both Viv and Chris were very welcoming and helpful. The location was perfect for a fishing getaway and the backdrop of the garden to wake up to was amazing. Thank you for the stay. Adam

I only stayed a few nights but Chris and Viv were both very welcoming and easy to contact and communicate with.
Having travelled from the UK with a lot of baggage and just getting settled into perth, i really appreciated that they had left me some milk and a beer in the fridge and were very easy to work around with check in and check out.
Would definitely recommend!
Following a warm welcome by Vivien and her 2 dogs, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in this homely apartment which has all the amenities plus nice extra touches, eg. small vase of flowers. Chris and Vivien are most obliging, and the outside garden area is delightful.
The house was booked for a family member from overseas in a wheelchair. Turned out the place was not as wheelchair friendly as listed so they only stayed one night. Can’t comment on much else

My wife and I spent 2 wonderful days in the Gums. Both the owner Chris & Viv Buckels are very nice and kind. And they have a lovely dog. She was waiting outside the door every day after we got up. The room is very cozy and clean. Also we enjoyed the swimming poor and their nice garden.
The accommodation was everything I hoped for and more. The place is clean, well furnished with all the amenities and comfortable. Best of all it was quiet and located in one of the best suburbs of Perth.
Chris and Viv are such nice and lovely hosts. They inquired after my needs several times and made me feel really welcome and comfortable. I needed a late checkout and Viv allowed me to stay without additional payment though I offered to pay. Thank you so very much Chris and Viv. In my opinion you are the best hosts in the whole of Perth. ❤️
This place felt like a throwback to the 1970s replete with cob webs, dust, and bugs.
If you long for barking dogs in the house (and yard), no privacy except for the bedroom, towels so brittle you wouldn't use to dry a car, and worn-out, floral bedding, then this is the place for you.
One evening, we returned to this rental only to hear a raucous dinner party happening a few meters away on the other side of a "privacy" door. Another evening, the barking dogs were serenading us from the yard and from the other side of the same privacy door.

All the positives of this property were overshadowed by a tired and dated interior. The mattress was compressed, sagging and really difficult to sleep on. The pillows were flat and should have been thrown out years ago. The towels were discoloured, hard and worn. What could have been a beautiful experience was ruined by nit being able to get a good nights sleep. The place just felt tired, dated and uninviting. There were beautiful gardens. All was not lost.
This feels like staying with your favorite family member or best friend - from communication ,to the check-in instructions, to the overall being cared for you, Chris and Liv are just the best! The cozy, super clean and very well equipped uniit is located in a beautiful neighborhood and the property you will staying in has everything you need, is well furnished and has access to an amazing garden and gazebo. We enjoyed the nearby beaches and loved walking and jogging along the waterfront. There are also some really nice restaurants in walking distance. Perth and Fremantle are just a short drive with a car away. We will be back in Perth and definitely stay with Chris and Viv again!
We stayed at the Gums after a long light from the UK. Chris and Viv were friendly but also gave us space to be anonymous. We thoroughly enjoyed the garden and watching the galas. The kitchen was well equipped with a comfortable sofa. The only thing I would request is all cotton sheets on the bed. A lovely place and we hope to be back. Thank you.
A very warm welcome! We stayed for almost 3 weeks, it provided everything we would need in facilities, very comfortable and never felt anything was skimped. Loved the garden and sitting-out area. Very quiet and secluded with wonderful bird-life. Easy access to the beach and good local restaurants, frequent bus service to Perth. Our hosts could not have been more helpful. Overall we thought it was very good value. A real gem.
