You can simply enjoy the quiet and serenity of the mountain getaway, or engage in any of the incredible local activities:
Fishing: Check out Tarryall Fly Guides in Fairplay, CO. They will set you up with a guided service, and any of your fishing fishing needs. Pick up a license there or in Jefferson. Tarryall Reservoir and Jefferson Lake are great spots to take in the views, see a waterfall, and cast your line. Spinney and Eleven Mile Reservoirs offer incredible fishing on the lakes or on the Dream Stream that connects them. Note: Antero is closed until 2018. If you’re looking for close guaranteed action beyond the public access of the South Platte, Blue, and Arkansas Rivers, there are private fishing stretches available nearby for daily rod fees.
Fitness: The Fairplay Rec Center is 20 minutes away and has a year round indoor zero-entry and lap pool, a full work-out facility, exercise classes, a skate park, BMX course and a sauna shaped like a cask! Day use fee applies.
Hiking: Hiking is abundant! The famous Colorado Trail hike goes through near-by Kenosha Pass. You can also hike the roads around the property and take in some fabulous views and fresh mountain air at any time of the day. There are forest service roads connecting many forested areas that can be hiked as well.
Horseback Riding: 15 minutes from the cabin is the American Safari Ranch. They offer open range and forest riding, plus a BBQ lunch for a modest fee.
Hunting: There is an abundance of public access in the area for big game hunting. No hunting is allowed around the cabin, but use the cabin as basecamp.
Mountain biking: Several mountain biking trails run through Lost Lake Forest, and the roads through Indian Mountain provide some challenging ascents or circuits. The Colorado Trail from Kenosha Pass to the Lost Creek Wilderness and Kenosha Pass down to Jefferson Creek and up to Georgia Pass are some of the best riding trails in Colorado.
River Rafting: 60 minutes from the property you will find Buena Vista and the Arkansas River, some of the best in Colorado. As well, the Royal Gorge is 90 minutes the other direction.
Skiing: 50 minutes from the cabin you will find yourself at the Gondola lot of Breckenridge, 65 minutes you will be at the base of Keystone. Monarch Mountain is a smaller, more local mountain approx. 2 hours away. If you are feeling adventurous, there is some epic back-country skiing to be had in the area, as well as cross-country skiing. Bring your beacon!
Snowmobiling: There are plenty of access sites in the area.
4x4: There is an abundance of 4x4 roads if you want to stretch your vehicle’s legs.
Boreas Pass from Como to Breckenridge is open in the summer and a fun look into the old mining and rail ways. Forest service roads abound that have varying conditions based on the season.
14ers and Hot Springs: You are 1 hour from Buena Vista where you can find the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs and Collegiate Peak 14ers.
Neighborhood Amenities: If you would like to take advantage of some of the amenities that Indian Mountain offers, there is Pasture Golf (clubs provided), Frisbee Golf on an awesome and challenging mountain course (there are discs at the property and on the course for your use), as well as an archery and shooting range. There is also a playground for the kids.
Wet your whistle and dance it out at the Stagestop Saloon – likely the closest watering hole. Our favorite is the South Park Brewery and Tap Room, great beer, food and views, and super kid-friendly!
