About this property
Duckmaloi Park Lodge
If you’re looking for accommodation 2½ hours drive from Sydney with atmosphere, history and comfort for up to 14 people, call us and find out whether the house is available for a weekend or a mid-week break.?
It’s a fabulous spot for a family get together, bonding session, reunion, garden weddings, group function or just a place to unwind and have a relaxing weekend or few days away.
The house was originally run as a guesthouse and built in the 1940’s by the current owner's grandparents. It still retains many of the original features and ambiance of that era.?
The property is tucked away in the Duckmaloi Valley on 140 acres of soft rolling hills and natural bush with private access to the Duckmaloi River. The house is set on 2 acres of gardens and sleeps 14 people in seven bedrooms – three doubles (made up of one room with a queen size bed and a single bed and two rooms with double beds) and four twins. The bedrooms are unpretentious and comfortable with doonas, blankets and pillows provided.
On the property there are also various activities such bushwalking with trails (great for walks or mountain biking), trout fishing, mushrooming and even wildlife or platypus spotting.?
About the house
The house is built in a large "L" shape with a huge deck on the Northern side with views over the valley. There is also a verandah on the western side of the house to enjoy the western sun in the winter.
There are 7 bedrooms situated on either side of a long corridor. The configuration for the bedrooms are 4 twins, one room with a queen size bed, and two bedrooms with a double bed in each. The bedrooms are not heated, although there is an efficient heater in the hallway.
The dining room has a huge open fireplace to while away an evening over dinner with plenty of room for everyone to enjoy a sit down meal. In addition there is a table and chairs in the large country style kitchen.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all you need for your stay - with a fridge-freezer, dishwasher, with a large free standing gas cook top and electric oven, microwave, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. There is an additional bar fridge for any drinks which frees up the kitchen fridge.
The living room has plenty of seating. There are french doors leading onto the deck and there is a very effective slow combustion wood fire to keep you warm.
The deck has an outdoor dining table and chairs, plus some extra Jack and Jill chairs. There is a gas barbeque for your use. The views are fantastic and the night skies are amazing.
The bathroom (which is located at the end of the hallway) consists of a toilet, shower and bath, a separate shower and double sink (all can be used separately). There is also an outside toilet and a laundry with a third "rustic" shower.
Things to do
Trout fishing in season on either our private part of the Duckmaloi River or the nearby Oberon Dam.
Bushwalking
Golf in Oberon or Bathurst
Nearby horse riding (we recommend booking in advance) at High Country Trail Rides
The Bathurst Farmers' markets are fabulous and feature local produce from the area. They are held on the 4th Saturday of the month from 8 am until about 12 noon at the Bathurst Show Grounds.
The historic town of Hartley is about a 30 minute drive; the Tarana or O'Connell Hotels (20 and 30 minutes respectively) do great pub style lunches; Jenolan Caves and Kanangra Walls are about 30 minutes away.
Oberon is only a ten minute drive for any provisions you may need.
