thanks for considering Denmark Holiday House , seated high up on Mount Shadforth, Denmark. spectacular vista across across Karri forest to the Stirling Ranges. You'll find yourself mesmerised by the panorama, the birds and the everchanging sky. It is a beautiful 3 bedroom house in rural seclusion with 3 bedrooms, kid friendly, pet friendly. We welcome your dog but ask you to remember that DHH is surrounded by working farms and you must not let your dogs roam onto the adjoining properties. Boasting a bmx bike pump track for children ( and adults ) and trampoline. Centrally located, close to Denmark( but not too close) and the other stand out attractions of Greens Pool, Ocean Beach , Harewood forest and Mount Lindsay walks , Wilderness Ocean Walk and more.
Some things that we want to make sure you are aware of that may mean that DHH is not for you , are as follows
We welcome pets , but ask that you restrict your dog to the living / kitchen area, and DO NOT permit them into the bedrooms/ carpeted area/ onto the beds.
DHH is surrounded by working farms and you must not let your dogs roam onto the adjoining properties. If you are not confident your dog will not stray , then it needs to be appropriately restrained.
mice As you are in the countryside you will hear mice , possums etc in the roof. We do constantly bait and trap to control this. Please be aware to minimize food being left out , but rather kept in fridge or provided sealed containers.
water comes from our rainwater tank , and is double filtered and then UV treated prior to coming out of the tank. Despite this the water has a tannin tint .We drink the water freely, however if you are concerned by this we provide 8 x 1.5 litres of mineral water for each guest group and more bottled water is available at the local IGA.

What a great place to stay, the children loved the open space of the property.
A rustic property, nestled in the beautiful forrest of Denmark. We enjoyed our stay and thought it was a great location.

Bronwyn, thanks for your positive comments and we're glad your family enjoyed their stay.
This year we are looking at building a "kids" cubby house retreat just in the edge of the forest (visible from the house). Also, nearby we plan to install a round-net-swing from one of the tall trees.
House was clean, comfortable beds, good quality bed linen, good cooking facilities.
House is on a hill with karris behind, a middle range view of karri forest and longe range view of distant valleys.
Highly rated.

Wayne, sorry to hear that you were not 100% happy with your visit.
During our several message interactions on your stay, you didn’t mention either of your review comments at the time? It would have been more useful for you and us to be able to address any issues you had whilst at the property. It wouldn’t be the first time that we’ve had to assist a guest, or work out solutions to problems – which I try do 24/7 as quickly as possible.
It’s disappointing to me that you considered the cleaning to be lacking, as we have had great results with the same cleaners for the past 7+ years? It would have been nice to hear what you thought needed correction, as the cleaners would have returned immediately to the house and attended to anything you could have pointed out (as they have occasionally for others).
On the house maintenance point, it’s a cedar weatherboard house (although I am not sure about “old”?), and certainly has had the full onslaught of Denmark’s constant sun & rain to contend with. Unfortunately, the month of May is the main chance we get to do annual fix ups and major maintenance. In fact, I attended the house immediately after your stay for several weeks during the month of May. Many jobs were attended to, fittings tightened, and assessment of the bigger jobs to be completed in the future. It’s a constant battle of costs, timing and trying to outsmart the weather.
I know that you had the unfortunate experience of being “smoked” out from a distant (neighbouring) burn-off fire – and as I discussed at the time, I was sorry that you had to experience that.
I hope you haven’t been put off Denmark as a destination from this experience, as there are many other types of accommodation, perhaps in the centre of town, which you may find more suitable for your family.
Happy future travels!

Great location and view - the owners have thought of everything
Best location we could have hoped for - far enough away from town (5 minutes) that is was quiet and peaceful, and very close to wineries and breweries.
The outdoor deck area was great and the property was large enough to explore with the dog.
The owners appear to have thought of everything - picnic baskets, kids furniture, games, a TV setup with Apple TV, DVD player, smart TV etc.
This was the only dog friendly place we could find that also had a great view and plenty of room. Comfortable for us with with 4 guests and a dog, but easily enough room for a couple more people.
Couldn’t recommend it enough - and will be back again later in the year.

A lovely Getaway!
Extremely clean, beds were so comfortable and the linen was of a lovely quality and the setting was absolutely beautiful.
A bit of a shame that all the beds are a Queen size though.
Would have been much better if one of the rooms could have had two single beds in it, as it would have been nice to have had the option of our two children aged 5 and 3 to stay in the same room together, instead of sleeping in separate rooms, and in such large beds.
We were aware of this before we booked, however it would have made the house and our stay just perfect had this option been available.
Maybe it would be more suited to Adults or Adults with older children.

Sarah, we're glad you enjoyed your stay at the house. In terms of our guests with children, a rough estimate would probably be 50% of our bookings. The comment you make on the beds is an interesting one, as we have been thinking about this for some time, but with no other guest input until yours. We are considering two king singles in the largest room, so we could set up as the main king sized bed or a configuration of two singles. Thanks for taking the time to put your thoughts across. We try provide a complete listing of all room features, which is displayed on the Stayz web site (prior to booking), but I take your point - so I'll see if I can highlight better where we show that only queen sized beds are available.
Loved our stay. The view was amazing and the outdoors perfect for our very energetic kids. It was also less than a ten minute drive into town. The house was very comfortable and well equipped, the wood fire cozy, and did I mention the amazing view!
Even before arriving, Mark made our journey down so much easier and was very accomodating with COVID lockdowns looming. Firstly, the photographs of this property do not do it justice. It is absolutely stunning. The house itself is extremely well equiped and the master ensuite is to die for. It far exceeded my expectations. The grounds and location are picture perfect and have to be seen to be believed. It was an absolute privilege to stay here and Mark couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome. We will definitely be back.
Very well equipped with everything you could need for a very comfortable stay. The location is amazing, with a beautiful view and just 10 minutes to Denmark Plenty of space for everyone to enjoy, and even in the middle of a stormy winter we could sit on the sheltered deck when the sun made an occasional appearance!
We loved everything about this amazing home. The house was gorgeous - cosy, stunning, spacious, homely and with the most spectacular views. Everything we needed was supplied and the level of thoughtfulness was above and beyond.
Our anxious rescue dog had the time of her life. She loved exploring the massive grounds, paddling in the dam and watching the sheep on the hill next door. She had plenty of room to run freely and smell all the wonderful scents … including the scents left by the kangaroos who paid a quick visit!
The view out to the Stirling Ranges was absolute perfection. We could sit on the sheltered porch even when the weather was a bit wild. We were lucky enough to see the grounds covered in hailstones as a storm passed through.
We can’t wait to return to this little piece of paradise. We feel refreshed and relaxed after a beautiful experience. Thank you Mark and Linda for sharing your stunning home and being amazing hosts who were so kind and responded to our questions and needs without hesitation. We cannot thank you enough!
Amazing stay at this property. We took our family including our four legged boy on this trip. The house location is perfect, it was very well equipped with everything imaginable. From pet bowls to baking mixers and soda streams!!
Ask before you pack!! You name it, they have it.
The kids loved it outside with the BMX track, the trampoline and swing, the dog had a wonderful experience too.
There was Netflix on the TV and our phone internet was ok too. It was Central and 5 mins drive from town.
We will be back but next time for a longer stay.
We had a wonderful stay, so much I could save about, but my top 2 favourite things about this property were the bmx track for the kids and how well equipped the property is. Mark and Linda have thought if everything. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Loved our stay here. The house gum boots were very welcome 😊. Our golden retriever loved the property and the enormous area to roam. And watching the kangaroos from the verandah.
A wonderful property for a family or a group of friends- superb cooks kitchen with plenty of crockery and utensils. Great outlook with large balcony complete with bbq. Perfect for dogs too, although ours was pretty alarmed by the roosters he could hear! Comfy beds and pillows. We highly recommend this property and hope to be back.
We had a fantastic stay for 5 days. The house includes everything you could think of including the option of different types of pillows. Great view, quite location and excellent communication and directions. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Very thoughtful host. Aside from great linen (& beds) provided, kitchen and laundry more than well-stocked with quality cooking gear + provisions to get you through before you have a chance to raid the IGA in town. Plenty of wood and matches to get the first fire started. House and surrounds very clean and well-maintained. Entertainment system kept our three entertained for hours. The blue wren visited as did several magpies and a few roos. The hosts clearly care for the property and the experience had by tenants. We loved our stay.
A lovely property, in a beautiful setting with amazing views. So quiet and relaxing with all the comfort and amenities needed for a great family holiday.
This is the second time we’ve stayed at the Denmark Holiday House and it won’t be the last! It is our favourite place to stay with our furbaby Spike. Wonderful accommodation, perfect location, beautiful views. It has everything you could want for a holiday in Denmark!
Great property, owner very responsive and helpful, we had a very relaxing stay, enjoyed the peaceful location, comfortable house, did not want to leave.
