We had a great stay. The house is beautiful and worked well for us. We spent most of our time hiking and enjoyed the trails. Overall very nice property!
My husband and I enjoyed our stay in this beautiful house in San Ysidro. The house was comfortable and cozy. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. We enjoyed walking on the surrounding BLM land. The sunrises were stunning and the views through the large windows, in the house, made us feel like we were outside. Although the house is secluded, it is a short drive away (1 hour or less) from many attractions. Stuart was a wonderful host. We highly recommend this special place.
Beautiful, Quiet, and Comfortable Sanctuary in the Desert
My husband and I stayed for 2 wonderful nights in this lovely 2-story adobe home located near the end of a somewhat rutted road stretching into the New Mexican desert, nearly equidistant from Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Nestled into a low ridge, this rental's interior and architectural design is a work of art from the ground floor’s large windows that frame gorgeous views in the entry hall (open to the living and dining spaces and kitchen); to the rugs, lamps, and wall art placed throughout the house; to the gently curving staircase leading up to the second floor (which features beautiful vintage floorboards and wood-patterned ceilings); to the sandstone vanities and stone-tiled showers in both bathrooms; to both bedroom’s the private balconies containing seating and tables...where we watched the sunset each night, speechless at the beauty of the hills that surround this home. The beds were Goldilocks perfect; all linens provided were spotless and comfortable. The kitchen seemed well equipped, though we only ate breakfast there. A laundry room off the kitchen held a large washer and dryer, which we did not use. Communication with the manager was simple and easy. Of the 8 places we rented during our trip to the Southwest, our stay at this home in San Ysidro was the most spectacular. This rental is breathtaking, we can’t recommend it more highly.
Very nice place. Awesome views and dark skies. Great hiking right out the door. Great location for starting multiple adventures. Only complaint was the road in was very bumpy.
I am not fond of being crowded when I stay anywhere on vacation. The house was unique. We wondered about no air conditioning but it worked out just fine. The large windows were great. Sitting outside in privacy was great. Senior citizens (us) need to be aware of one bathroom upstairs and the steps. However, it wound up not making any difference. I/we have no complaints.
Beautifully and thoughtfully built and appointed home. Lovely and quiet with easy access to BLM property as well as many local trails and day trips. Would love to go back again.

Wonderful desert home with open hiking 100 yards away. I suggest hiking south to the cell phone tower and then turning west and circling around back to your starting point. No internet other than the mobile hotspot on your smartphone but signal was strong. Owner chose to meet to lead us to house rather than providing directions since the road is not on Google Maps yet.
This home was lovingly built by the owner with thoughtful details and decor. It may not be for every guest — it is very isolated, with the nearest neighbor about a quarter mile away — but for the person or family who wants to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the New Mexican countryside, it is perfect. The kitchen is well-equipped with basics and the bedrooms are very comfortable, each with its own bathroom. Bring books, board games, DVD’s or downloaded movies, and your music playlists....and you’ll never want to leave.

Amazing Rural Retreat
We loved our stay at this rural sanctuary. Teresa and Stuart were gracious hosts that left many thoughtful touches in the beautifully designed, immaculately clean home. Built by the owners, the house is in the middle of the high desert about 45 min from Albuquerque, 30 min from Jemez Springs and 1 hour from National Monuments like Valles Caldera and Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks. Definitely worth the stay! Be prepared with groceries, and to un-plug without WiFi.
