The mansion.
The property was amazing but it wasnt the original i tried to book. The owner booked us then changed the booking after having long term guests in the original. It was kind of a hassle but the stay went well after we got the details worked out.
Our family of 6 gathered here for our Christmas get-together. There was plenty of room for everybody. The house is a lovely historic home and had touches of Christmas decor in every room. Beds were comfortable and kitchen had plenty of dishes and cookware. We had a couple of inusual needs come up during our stay and Blake was easy to reach by phone. Thanks for a nice stay!
We loved being able to stay in the lovely Victorian home. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas with a tree that made us feel at home. There were plenty of rooms, towels, and owner provided shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. The kitchen was perfect for a family of chefs. It was well stocked, and we found all of the cooking equipment, dishes, wine glassed and such were more than other places we've stayed. The owner was very responsive during the whole process. The place was clean and neat and had plenty of rooms for us to be comfortable. We would stay here again if we have the chance.
This is a really nice house with great woodwork throughout. The kitchen is a large usable space. We had plenty of room to spread out into the other rooms on the first floor with many seating options. We appreciated the large walkin shower. Upstair bedrooms were well appointed with comfortable beds. Our dog enjoyed the spacious backyard as well. Warm evenings on the deck will be nice as the summer warms up. Overall this property met my expectations.
Mouse droppings in kitchen drawers. Lots. In almost every drawer. Some new. Some old. (See earlier reviews.)
We contacted the owners first night about bed sheets having crumbs/debris/hair/crusty unknown spots.
Cool old house that simply needs a deep cleaning.

With this guest I personally cleaned myself, after the regular cleaning crew. It was near spotless. I was shocked this guest had this complaint. Also, if any guest guest does have a complaint, we address it immediately. A guest should not complain about something we either remedied or offered to but it was refused. And it's an old house; pest controls are in place. We have over a 4.5 rating and 7 years of experience. You don't last in this business if houses aren't clean and have pest problems.
I reserved this space to post our annual Friendsgiving/Christmas dinner. I was attracted by the holiday deco and the kitchen. It looks great for food prep and hosting a nice space for us to eat and have conversations afterward. This host was very communicative and accommodating. I am a first-time Vrbo user so they took the time to walk me through the steps I needed to do as an unrated user.He also took the time to chat with me about concerns I had about being a verbal user is very patient. I even had the nerve to ask if they might be able to accommodate an early check-in, which they said they would consider. Fortunately, we did not need the early check-in.. I’ve read the other reviews and realize that everything is subjective. I had a wonderful experience.
Decided to spend the Christmas Holiday in Minneapolis with our Daughter who works in health care in Minneapolis and had to work on Christmas Eve Day, so would not be able to come home to Wisconsin. The House was very cozy, comfortable despite the winter blizzard and bitter cold. This is a house full of Old World Character. We spent all our time time at the house visiting, cooking good food and just enjoying our time together as a Family. Even our Family Dogs, Norm and Rosie enjoyed their stay. This was the place to do it!! Easy to get area groceries at a variety of supermarkets. Blake, our Host was absolutely responsive to our concerns and questions during the whole time. Would rent Again!! Todd
I had a horrible experience. I booked this house 5 months in advance for my bachelorette party. I never heard anything from Blake after booking so I contacted him an hour before getting to the house. I was then informed that the house was double booked and I was left to find my own lodging for the weekend. Blake was responsive to the problem but I’d advise you contact him sooner rather than later to insure that this issue does not happen to you!!!

I recommend anyone concerned about these negative reviews to read out reviews on Heir-B-NB where we have a 4.8 SuperHost status.
This is a very disappointing review, to be punished for something beyond our control. First off, we refunded this guest IN FULL and gave money back for her trouble. We offered her a FREE stay. WE handled everything with VRBO personally to cancel the reservation and in fact find her new accommodations ourselves. She said "no problem, don't worry about it." over and over. So to have her slam us after telling me it was not a big deal, is so two-faced. Second of all, this was not our fault- VRBO has a problem (as does Airbnb) with their calendars. We have multiple homes on multiple platforms. These 2 platforms mess up on their calendars all the time. We "import" or "sync" reservations all the time, only to find out it wasn't done correctly. Since we're so busy, sometimes late in the process. This was an unfortunate situation, but does not warrant the kind of review left here.
The property is rundown compared to listing photos. The prior guests were difficult which trickled down to us. Owner had to come for 3 days to cleanup the outside. We were having my Moms funeral so this was all stressfull. We had to take the old cushions for the outdoor furniture out off the garage and cover with blankets for our Celebration of Life gathering. There were still 5 bins of stinky garbage in the back. Blake tried but getting the property together was tough. I think compensation was in order. The kitchen was poorly appointed and cupboards dirty.

Deborah was going through a tough time and under a lot of stress. Unfortunately, we had a very bad guest immediately prior to her stay, which took additional time to clean. Despite 3 people on the job, Deborah still wasn't satisfied. We came over 3 days and took care of EVERY single complaint or concern she had. At the end it got kind of ridiculous, the things she was complaining about. The can opener wasn't to her liking, the pot handle didn't feel good in her hand, etc. I've.never put that much work into a guest and have them give such a review. THAT'S what's disappointing.
We get SO many reviews stating the house is exactly as pictured. If guests want to see our 4.7 rating on other platforms, I can send the link. Again, we control what we can. The fact we had terrible guests right before this guest's stay isn't something that's on us.

Disliked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Read before reserving
Numerous issues we experienced
• Difficulty opening entrance (gate on fence). After a few minutes we used a stick to raise the bar & open the gate
• House was very dusty so we cleaned a little
• Bring your own pillows unless you like sleeping on thin ones
• Check the dishes & utensils. We had to clean a mug & knife
• Spiders on the bed
• Flies in an upstairs bedroom
• Ants crawling on the floor
• Lamps without on/off switches
• Light sockets without bulbs
• Coffee machine with no visible instructions
• Downstairs kitchen light switch on wall is loose & lights flicker. Sometimes, these lights would flicker on their own & turn off even after you found the “sweet spot.”
• Downstairs has one window AC unit. When we arrived a large number of window shades were up letting in the heat. 4th bedroom is down stairs. We turned the air down & went to a Twins game. We returned that evening & the downstairs was still warm
• We were really excited to lounge on the deck but host revealed in the greeting that the last guest had damaged them & the host was waiting on a claim to be resolved. The assumption was no cushions
• Host also sent a lengthy message and asked me to leave a 5 star review
• We left the property & made other arrangements at a hotel

I recommend anyone concerned about these negative reviews to read out reviews on Airbnb where we have a 4.8 SuperHost status.
A bitter guest who could not be pleased. In fact, we offered to RESOLVE ANY and all issues he had, no matter how obtuse. He denied. We offered him a solution to leave the property and cancel, he refused. Trying to get 2 nights for free. This property has a 4.5+ rating on VRBO and 4.8 on Heir-Bee-N-Bea. We constantly get complimented on accuracy and cleanliness. This guest was, I'm sorry, crazy. We did the exact same process for each and every guest. 5-star stay prior to this guest and 5-star stay after. It just happens that they weren't on VRBO, they were on another platform. We strive to make sure each guest has a 5-star experience. But, you can't please everyone. We offered to help this guest and he refused, and we offered a solution for him to leave, and he refused. Plain as that. We can't solve problems if guests won't let us, we can't work with guests who don't actually want a fair resolution.
The house was beautifully staged for the holidays and the host was great, giving local attractions and restaurants, it was a great stay for my entire family.
We didn’t stay much at the house. It is an older house, but updated. Clean. I would guess you might not like it if you want to sit around watching TV. Nice back yard. Close to everything
Can not recommend this place or host. They are unpredictable

We're as predictable as death and taxes. But a lot more fun.
This guest was a nightmare, let's just leave it at that. The review has no context or doesn't even make sense so ... I really can't say what this guest had a problem with. We have the exact same operation procedure for each and every guest-
Thoroughly clean
Guest checks in
We follow up same day making sure all is well, and address any concerns or issues immediately as presented.
We follow up again before check-out.
My name is Blake. I live in this part of Minneapolis, and do all my business there. I run a very small property management and renovation company. We specialize in vintage homes and restoring their character.
Why they chose this property
When I walked into this house the first time, I knew I was going to buy it. Even though carpet hid the HW floors, and there was terrible wallpaper on the walls, the house has character and woodwork. I love this property and hope you do too.
What makes this property unique
Ample living space inside, yet a huge backyard (for the city). Great indoor and outdoor living spaces which are hard to find in the city.
