The house was squeaky clean, beds comfortable, towels generous. The kitchen was well equipped and the bbq spotless and very efficient. The garden is gorgeous with masses of roses in bloom. Plenty of grass for the kids to play on. Everyone enjoyed their hikes to the river. Jill replied to every query very quickly. We had a wonderful stay.
We cannot recommend this property highly enough. It was perfectly appointed, extremely neat, warm, tidy yet comfortable and relaxing and Jill and her family went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The fire pit and pizza oven are not to be missed! We’ll definitely return for another visit.
This place was perfect for our group of two families with adult children. Loved everything, the fire pit, pizza oven, the shed (young adults loved this space!) fresh eggs, and cosy fireplace inside. We didn’t want to leave!
A cosy cottage close to town, fire pit and pizza oven were fantastic to sit by at night and make pizzas. Plenty of room for 8 of us and the owners were amazing to deal with and very helpful. They came to inform us of an impending hail storm and made space for our cars undercover
Great place to stay with the family. Clean tidy house with plenty of warmth from the fireplace. The pianola was a hit and the younger kids thought it was pretty cool!! Thanks Jill for being so accommodating.
This property, & the hiring process, was perfect from go to whoa! The owners are so amenable. Everything you could possibly want in a holiday house is supplied, and then some!
There were 16 of us staying & not one person wanted to leave when the time came to pack up. Already planning our next visit.

This group was fantastic
Didn’t see them much but with 16 people the cottage was neat and tidy
Have them back anytime
The cottage plus outside air-conditioned "shed" was great for our group of 5 couples. The only small downside was that the 3 ensuite bathrooms, meant you always had to go through someone's bedroom to get to a loo/bathroom.The hosts were lovely people, even getting the pizza oven fire going and preparing some pizza dough for us ready for Friday evening. Sitting on the deck with a coffee watching the hay baling was a very nice experience.Everyone very much enjoyed the 3-night stay.
Charming cottage for our family (and Speagle) - lots of space and beautifully furnished. Great to have fresh eggs for breakfast and thanks for the fresh milk!
Despite the wet weather, we made good use of the table tennis table, TV, piano and were kept warm by the fireplace.
Great location. Will be back!

Great family
The timing wasn’t the best for them as it rained a lot
But the cottage was left beautifully
Love to have you all back

The perfect farm stay so close to town and wineries.
This immaculate property is full of character and breath taking views. The linen was luxurious and facilities were super clean with an abundance of cooking ingredients, teas and coffees. The fresh eggs were amazing! Kids loved swimming in the river, collecting eggs, playing the outdoor games and cooking marshmallows on the fire. Parents loved relaxing on the porch, sipping on the local wine while watching the sunset behind the hills. Less then five minutes to Glen Willow sporting fields and town, an ideal location.
We had a fantastic weekend with 12 girls for a hens party. The house was perfect for this we had plenty of room & everything we needed. The location is beautiful & we really enjoyed our stay.

Mudgee Stay
We all enjoyed our stay. Very cosy and the pizza oven and fire pit were great too.
The property was so clean and decorated so well. There was not anything that we didn't miss. Jill catered for everything. Plenty of towels, great linen, comfy beds and the house was warm. Fresh Eggs on the bench on arrival and everything in the kitchen that you need. The young adults and teens loved staying in the shed which was kept warm with the air conditioner. We could have lit the fire stove as well but decided to just use the fireplace inside the house. Highly recommend this farm house.
We had a great 3 nights at Castlelea cottage! 2 nights in the house sitting by the fire and one night was a party down and the pizza oven and fire pit. It was a great venue and the property was beautiful. Thank you to Jill!
We had the best time staying at this beautiful property! Picturesque property with relaxing country views and the house was so comfortable and had enough space for 8 adults. We were close to all the wineries (5-10min drive tops) and 5 mins from the town centre!
Jill was super helpful and even made pizza dough for us to use in the pizza oven one night, they set up the area with festoon lighting and a fire pit making it the perfect evening to end our weekend away!
Would recommend this place to everyone when visiting Mudgee! You will fall in love with it just as much as my family and I did :)

Hi I'm Jill. My partner Rob and I live on 20 acres, on the river 3km out of Mudgee. I've recently been doing the parkruns in Mudgee and enjoy being an active member of our dragon boating club! We'd love for you to come stay on our property. We value privacy for our guests but are accessible when need be. Hope to see you in Mudgee!
Why they chose this property
We have relished restoring the old farm homestead and bringing it back to life for guests to enjoy! I kind of also think the cottage is enjoying all the different friends and families coming to stay, laugh and party!
What makes this property unique
I think the unique benefits of our property is the location and setting. Guests can truly relax by the river, the pizza oven and fire pit, on the back verandah or on the front porch with a book while overlooking the rose garden.
