With stunning mountain views, kangaroos grazing at your doorstep and roaring open log fires the Redgum Log Cottage creates a space to step back from the hectic pace of modern life and enjoy the simple pleasures in life. Whether it's a romantic weekend away or a break with the kids the Cottage is set in 60 acres of stunning bushland and offers you that secluded getaway in the Grampians.
As you enter this cottage you can feel the sense of history derived from all salvaged and saved building materials such as the leadlight windows from an old homestead and restored to feature either side of the fireplace.
Even the dining table and chairs originate from a Methodist Church built in 1865, and the main pole supporting the loft was saved from the Seppelts Winery, Great Western.
The Stone Cottage is tucked away at the end of the property, leaving you with a private retreat and has a large loft bedroom creating more space for you to relax or bring friends and family to stay.

The view was amazing the stone house was in the perfect position. I loved being out of town and having our own space.
The rustic feel of the cottage definitely made us feel like we were on holidays nothing like home, which was what we wanted.

Aidan & Corinne: The Grampians Pioneer Cottages
Pioneer Stone Cottage has been beautifully built in period style using recycled materials and provides comfortable accommodation at a property near Pomonal, looking out towards the northern Grampians. Wildlife abounds and the stars are bright in this dark sky location. A large open fireplace stocked with wood promises a comfortable evening by the fire side.
Our hosts were welcoming and very supportive of our guests when they had an unexpected incident during their trip. We really appreciated their hospitality. We had a short stay and would happily return for a longer holiday.

Liked: Cleanliness, location
Location, location, location, BUT
Location was fine, I had emailed the proprietor about payment, several weeks ahead. I wanted to pay as a t/f, not credit card. I received no response.
I had a very brief encounter with Aiden, who showed me a map to our cabin. The cabin was clean, but tired. No special welcoming, adequate amenities. given there was a coffee plunger, I would have liked at least one serving. Hand towels in bathroom and kitchen paper(recycled), would have been appreciated. Thank you Julie for taking the time to leave your review and highlight your experience with us. And we are sorry to hear your stay didn’t live up to your expectations.
Regarding contacting us before your arrival via email regarding payment. Our business process is to retain all records of communication with our guests to ensure there is no misunderstanding around dates, payments, requests etc... We have checked our records and can confirm we received no email from you. If we had received your email we would have responded as we do with all customer communications.
For your future reference, as you booked through Stayz we have no control over the payment process. This is managed by Stayz who send you a templated message (using my name) for part payment of the booking. Then closer to the time send you another request to pay the outstanding amount. We then receive a payment from Stayz after you have stayed with us minus their commission. Therefore paying the amount in full directly to the accommodation business is not possible.
The Stayz website has accurate and up to date photos of our cottages and property, which we would recommend potential guests look at prior to booking. Our unique cottages are hand built from recycled materials. The photos offer you a very clear picture and feel of the type of accommodation we provide. This may not be to everybody’s taste, if people require a more contemporary setting there are plenty of great options in Halls Gap.
Thank you for suggestions and for taking the time to leave your review. All feedback is appreciated we will bear it in mind moving forward.
Kind regards
Aidan & Corinne
The Grampians Pioneer Cottages
This place was amazing, so peaceful, relaxing and not to mention the cottage was probably the cleanest we've ever hired for a getaway.
The cottages are spaced out sufficiently enough so that you feel like you're the only ones on the property, very private. Lots of wildlife right at your doorstep with Halls Gap and wineries just a short drive away.
Will definitely be back again.

A little bit of Peace
I'd say this is the most peaceful place on earth. Only the sounds of the animal and breathing in fresh air, gazing at the stars and watching the clouds over the mountains to cleanse the senses.
If you feel there's a bit of healing needing to be done in yourself or you just need to relax, I truly recommend Stone Cottage.
