We celebrated my father’s 80th birthday with the whole family of 13 adults. Enough rooms and the pool was great. The games room fab for the grandkids. Quiet location but close to everything with the car. Waking up to see kangaroos was an added bonus

Thanks for your lovely feedback Joanne, delighted you had such a great family time
The property is perfect for a large group with plenty of spaces inside and out to relax and enjoy yourself. Understand Lia country house is hard to keep clean but the house is well presented and only marked down as there were little things like rubbish bags not provided. There are some staples in the pantry and plenty of kitchenware for a big group. croc

This is an absolutely beautiful property!
This is a wonderful 5 star property ....
However, there are some things that let it down badly.
It is in need of some repairs and maintenance.
Our bathroom door would not open and close easily, almost got stuck in there.
Some of the fly wire on the doors is ripped and needs repair .
And there is nothing supplied, we had to buy the linen package to get tea towels etc and there is no soap at all, anywhere. Even 3rd rate motels have a block of soap available.
That said, our family loves this property,
we will return, with our own soap.
It is still a 5 star property just needs some little luxuries and some attention.

Thanks for your review, so sorry we missed the soap, it's a huge property and occasionally things get overlooked. We are always happy to attend the house during a stay to sort out any issues if we're alerted to them at the time.
The fly wires are repaired often however the Kookaburras love dive bombing them for insects so it's a constant battle!
We'd be delighted to have you back.

Liked: Check-in, location
Merricks short stay
Repeat visitors, property well appointed great for multiple couples, offering 4 double rooms. Great spaces, enjoyed activities room and sitting by the pool. Lovely ambiance. Could do with a detailed clean.
Nothing as per deacription, terrible accomodation and service from the renters
1)The house was dirty, looked like it was never dusted down, with cobwebs everywhere and dead insects on the carpets.
2)They had tank water so we couldnt use the tap, and they said they'd supply drinking water but they did not!
3)The shower water was freezing cold after 1 person had a shower, and you cant use 2 showers at the same or else one will be cold.
4) bbq was filthy and rusted.
5) swimming pool smelt like urine, and looked dirty.
6)the side gate lock was broken and they blamed us for it and charged us for it. Even though i told the cleaner when i arrived that it was broken and she saw it.
7) the garbage bins were full, when we arrived and didnt get emptied until the day we checked out. And then they charged us $120 for our rubbish that we left there since we had nowhere else to put it.
8) on arrival we had to wait 1 hour outside while the cleaners were still supposedly cleaning, however when we finally went in the dishes from the last renters were still there. So we had to clean them and put them away!
9) no toilet paper was supplied
10) i had to vacuum and mop the whole house because of how dirty it was.
11) Nikki the house renter was really rude not letting me talk and shutting me up on the phone when i called to let her know about the garbage bins being full and the house being dirty.
Will never book this place again, and i definitely do not recommend anyone else to stay there.

So glad that this wonderful property was enjoyed and we were able to provide excellent service as we always strive to. We would be happy to welcome Deidre and her group back to any of our lovely properties.
The Lodge was the perfect place for us to come together as a family and enjoy all the fabulous amenities on offer. The setting is superb with beautiful gardens and wonderful outlooks from every room. The location suited us perfectly as we could easily access the beaches from Hastings to Flinders as well as the more familiar beaches of Port Phillip Bay. The pool was well-used and meant we could easily spend the entire day onsite.
The house is extremely well-equipped and we found catering for meals for three generations easy . The large dining table enabled us to gather for memorable meals together.
We all enjoyed a fantastic holiday together and are very keen to repeat our experience next year at The Lodge.

So glad you enjoyed your stay Helen and we'd be happy to accommodate you again in the future. Don't wait too long to book though, its a very popular property and we already have a number of bookings for next year!
Spent an amazing weekend with a small group of friends at the property and we all agree that we will be back for sure! The property itself it just gorgeous - weather didn’t allow us to make the most of the garden and pool...but we loved the open fireplace. The house itself is so well set-up - really lovely place for a group to getaway without feeling like you are living on top of each other. Owners were delightful and so responsive with any questions that we had - look forward to our next stay. Thanks again!
Fabulous property, so beautiful and relaxing, will definitely return.

Lovely property but .......
A very lovely property. Beautiful grounds and gardens. The house was very nice inside, Great layout.. But not as clean as we would expect for the price. The outside of the house was covered in webs, and the windows and screens did not appear to have been cleaned in years - definitely not as clean as they appear in the pictures. Some of the screens were in disrepair - Especially the screen doors from the kitchen dining area to the pool. Many holes. Inside the shower tile grout had mildew.
The fan over the stove was not functional, and you could not open the windows to vent out the kitchen because they (and almost all in the house) were all locked. For the price we would expect to find the property in much better condition.

The house is cleaned to a very high standard for each incoming guest and should there be any issues we always ask guests to let us know at the time so they can be addressed.
The windows are cleaned on a regular basis but this is a country property near the sea so they get plenty of weather.
The fly wires get ambushed by the local Kookaburras and it's impossible to keep up with them so they have been removed!
All openable windows do now open.
Thanks for your feedback, it's always helpful in order to maintain the property to the best standard possible.

Beautiful house, pool and gardens
We had a wonderful experience at the house for a weekend getaway with the whole family. The pool was heaps of fun, kids loved the games room and the open plan kitchen, dining, living was great for all of us to mingle without being on top of each other.
The only thing to be weary about is the amount of European wasps. We couldn’t leave antipasto platters, food or drinks outside, had to be really careful walking around the pool because they were easy to step on and keep doors closed all the time because fly wire screens were broken and they were coming inside for the food and water too.
If you’re allergic or anaphylactic it would be a nightmare.

Beautiful property!
We had a wonderful, relaxing weekend at The Lodge at Merricks for a family members 70th birthday. The house is beautiful and very spacious and accommodated our large group very easily. We loved the many different lounge areas for people to enjoy. There is plenty of activities to keep all ages entertained, even when it rained (the table tennis was a big hit!). Our kids enjoyed the pool and the owners where very quick and efficient at having it cleaned for us when we arrived. The gardens are beautiful and very well maintained and if the weather had been better we would have enjoyed eating outdoors. A wonderful property that we would highly recommend for a relaxing weekend/break away. We hope to visit again next year.
