The Space:
The home is perched on top of a mountain, which is next to Stratton, on 100+ acres. A quarter-mile long driveway winds its way up to the house that has complete and total peace and quiet. You cannot see any other home from the main house or guest house, you will have absolute privacy.
Seven of the eleven bedrooms are en-suite, eight are in the main house and three are in the guest house. The property sleeps up to 27 guests very comfortably. Each bed will have fresh linens and each bathroom will have clean towels upon your arrival, the home is maintained meticulously by one of the best cleaning crews in Southern Vermont.
There will be two kitchens at your disposal, a large one in the main house which is perfect for cooking those large group meals, and there is a second kitchen in the guest house. Both will be stocked with plates, cups, silverware, cookware, and more, the chef of your group will have everything they need. All you need to do is bring the food!
The family room in the main house has a wood fireplace, TV, and lots of seating, a nice place to sip a drink and spend some quality time with friends and loved ones, or to catch up with a coworker. A smaller family room is on the second floor that has couches, with large windows that provide a panoramic view of the valley below.
Outside on the front porch is a gas grill, and several holders for firewood. The back porch is stone where the panoramic views can be seen, and there is a grass yard for tossing a football or playing catch. On the side of the house is a sun room, with plenty of seating.
Down the driveway is a paddle tennis court with a heated surface and lighting, and next to the court is a swimmable pond! The paddle tennis court is available in winter, please let us know at least a month ahead of time if you wish to use it so we can clear it of the snow and ice.
And last, but certainly not least, next to the home is a gazebo with a hot tub! You can enjoy the incredible views while going for a nice soak.
The Perfect Day:
Wake up with a hot cup of tea or coffee and step out on the back porch, with the crisp, cool mountain air filling your lungs and the gorgeous view of 40 miles in each direction as your backdrop. You may be out there for a while!
Then, after breakfast or brunch, it is time to grab your ski or snowboard gear to hit the slopes! With three ski resorts in the area, there is a mountain with a skill level for all groups.
For spring, summer and fall guests, there are fairs, horse shows, trails, places to fish and hike, and much more—everyone in your group will be able to find something fun to do! You can also visit any one of a number of farm stands that dot the main roads to and from the house to purchase the freshest, organic produce, meats, and cheeses that Vermont is famous for.
After a day of fun, you can grab a bite to eat in town down the mountainside, or you can head to Manchester for some drinks, shopping, and nightlife! Or you can have a more relaxing evening at the house, with a crackling fire providing a lovely ambiance, and spend some time in the hot tub to rejuvenate those muscles you exercised during the day, while the sun sets as the perfect backdrop.
Then it is time for bed to rest up for another day of Vermont fun!
The Neighborhood:
The home has complete privacy, away from the hustle and bustle of a ski resort. AWD and 4WD are highly recommended during the snow season.
Down the hill from the house are the valley towns of Bondville, Rawsonville and Winhall, where you can find small convenience stores to stock up on a few items, some bars and restaurants for a bit of nightlife, and small shops.
For ski and snowboarding, Stratton is a huge mountain and is less than 10 minutes away. For beginner skiers or those who like to take it easy on the slopes, Bromley is perfect for you. If you are a ski enthusiast, Magic Mountain, all the way.
If you are looking for the pinnacle Vermont social experience, head west on Route 30 for about fifteen minutes, which will bring you to Manchester Center, an amazing small Vermont city that has something for everyone. There is plenty of shopping. There are outdoor stores which offer classes and experiences from learning how to fly fish to learning how to shoot like Winston Churchill to how to drive off-road. There is the Equinox Spa, which is renowned and highly rated for those who want luxurious pampering. There is the Dorset Horse Show.
For golfers, Stratton and Magic Mountain both have courses. Manchester has a private golf club.
Hikers should explore Stratton, especially those looking for a good workout. Anglers have several ponds, lakes, and rivers to choose from, the best thing to do is when you purchase your license (everyone over aged 16 is required to have one), grab the free Vermont fishing magazine which has more information than you could ever need, as well as the rules and regulations.
*Please note: A one week stay in summer is required. During ski season there is a three night minimum.
*Please inform us of all events to be hosted at the home at the time of booking.
