About this property

Authentic Log Cabin in the cool pines less than 2 hours from Phoenix.

11.5 acres of peace and quiet at 7,095 feet (where the house is) in the cool pines. This 2600 square foot REAL log cabin has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Bedrooms 2 and 3 are upstairs and have their own private balconies. Bedroom 2 has a king bed and bedroom 3 is a gym with 2 king size blow up mattress available and shares a Jack and Jill with bedroom 2. The master is also a king bed. There is a Big screen T.V. with surround sound and you will enjoy Direct T.V. and a dvd player. The pad the cabin sits on is fenced to keep unwanted animals out and allowed pets in. We have Wi Fi. The entire cabin has a complete wrap around deck that is absolutely HUGE. You can be in sun or shade any time of the day.
Although the site will feel remote (you need binoculars to see any neighbors) visitors are only 10 miles to Costco at "the bottom of the hill". Only the last 2.5 miles to the cabin is dirt but 4 wheel drive is not required in summer. Please do not get nervous about the "sketchy" looking homes you will pass on the way up to Misty Mountain Loop. Everyone who visits immediately feels that sense of RELAXATION. Payments made through VRBO.

Family Vacation

This was our fourth year enjoying this beautiful cabin over Fall Break with our kids. The cabin is situated perfectly to bring our CanAm for trail rides each morning. Then afternoons are all about the corn hole games followed by an awesome bonfire making s'mores. The memories we have made over the years staying at this amazing property has been... PRICELESS ❤️

Good Stay

Andy was responsive, caring and informative. The feeling was being a guest in his private home! as opposed to being a renter of his property. Wildlife was abundant and close to the cabin.

Peaceful Comfort in the Tall Pines

If you want to escape the hustle, bustle of everyday life, this is the place to do so. It is not only quiet, but due to the elevation at around 7,000 feet, you really feel connected to the tall pines and mountains surrounding the cabin. Wildlife is in abundance and it is a rare opportunity to feel so connected to nature while having all the conveniences of a modern home. The kitchen is fantastically equipped with top rated appliances and there is plenty of space for meal prep and all of your supplies. The other rooms are tastefully appointed in the spirit of a woodsy cabin, yet everything is modern and comfortable. Highly recommend this for a true getaway from it all!

Beautiful log cabin in the hills above Prescott.

Spent 9 fun days here visiting family in Prescott. The cabin is beautifully built, and great for entertaining. Stocked with everything you need and great appliances. Microwave, stove work very well and the washer and dryer are enormous and efficient. Andy was very responsive and provided accurate info. Huge deck to enjoy the cool mountain breeze, even during the heat of the day. You are at 7000 feet, so it's much, much cooler than the valley. And it's quiet! Lots of unusual birds, as well as deer, chipmunks, and beautiful night skies. It's a dirt road the last part of the way up to the cabin, but we had a 4-wheel drive vehicle and found it no problem at all.

Isolated Perfection

We LOVED staying here and will definitely be back. Husband and I both worked remote from cabin while son was nearby at soccer camp. Road needs 4wd and I imagine it would be difficult (or as my husband puts it: "Amazingly fun") when covered in snow. The kitchen is to die for. High end appliances and great for cooking any meal. The grounds are beautiful and spacious and it feels like you are out in the wilderness alone. Highlight of stay: Hiking around the property, seeing a mama bear and 2 cubs just south of the cabin about a mile, enjoying cool evenings by the fireplace and meeting some noisy woodpeckers in the early morning! Owner was very responsive and made our stay very easy. 13/10.

Had a great vacation. The cabin was stocked to the hilt and had a great feel of comfort to it.

Loved the wrap around deck. The views from all sides of the cabin and deck. Laying in bed watching the deer pass by the large bedroom window. Took walks every morning and night with our puppy Ethan. He loved the freedom. Weather was to order for a couple from the desert. Thunder and lighting storms, hail, incredible rain and cool morning and evenings. My wife cooked up a storm on the new remodeled kitchen, with the most incredible granite in place. Total quiet except for the birds every morning. Far removed from all the sound and rush of towns and cities. Loved the whole experience. Looking forward to our next visit.

Amazing Cabin

Absolutely stunning cabin. Everything about the cabin was beautiful. The log walls inside and beams through out was just breath taking. The cabin was fully stocked, the appliances were top notch. The granite was exactly my taste. The double sided fireplace warms you from both sides. All areas of the cabin were very spacious . A great place to relax and unwind. The cabin is secluded, peaceful and no neighbors around. The dogs loved the fenced in property to run around in the snow. The perimeter has lighting which makes it easy to see at night. The weather was perfect, light snow when we arrived, melted and then snow again, Took daily hikes which was amazing. We had a wonderful 10 days. Thank you so much, Diane and Lou

Restful Retreat

Private, pristine, peaceful property. This cabin has it all. Great location away from the crowds and tourists, beautiful wilderness loaded with wildlife. The cabin is safe, comfortable and set up with all the amenities you could possibly need. Property owner is super responsive and genuinely wants you to have a relaxing trip. This property makes you feel secure the second you pull up to the gate. The first thing you will notice aside from the beautifully handcrafted cabin is the peaceful quiet of the woods. We spent most of the time on the wrap-around deck enjoying the wildlife in the area. Bring some binoculars to fully enjoy the wildlife. There is hiking, a lake and OHV riding nearby. If you need a break from the heat, crazy life, or the hustle of everyday grind, put this cabin on your list, you won't regret it.

Outstanding Customer Service

This cabin was the Christmas Vacation of our dreams. Andy was so accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed to arrive safely. Off the beaten path, the cabin has tons of privacy and AMAZING finishes including the most beautiful fridge we have ever seen. Enjoying the holiday in luxury, we brought our 3 month old who enjoyed the warm fire, and cozy bedrooms. Safe. Secure. Silent. Our pups enjoyed the fenced in backyard and large wrap around deck. In the rush of packing I forgot items and the hosts made sure to get them back to me. It is unreal that they went out of their way to get me back my items. We will be returning one day and we are so thankful for their amazing customer service. Do not hesitate to book this getaway!

Best ever cabin experience!

My husband and I rent a cabin each summer to escape the Phoenix heat for a while. This cabin has set a new bar for rentals! It is beautiful, clean, uncluttered, comfortable and is stocked with all the basic supplies. Great clean kitchen as well as grill. Good laundry room. Huge family room with big tv. Comfortable bedrooms. Good internet and cell service. The fact that the cabin is fenced all the way around was a huge plus. I don’t think there is a better cabin anywhere, and we plan to return again and again. We couldn’t wait to get up every cool morning and sit on the deck with our coffee to watch the dawn and the animals begin to stir. There were activities galore that kept us occupied, but the best time was the deck time all day long. This is a slice of heaven on earth! We appreciate Andy and Annie for being so immediately responsive to every question. And for creating this wonderful atmosphere at your cabin and your willingness to share with others.

Incredible property, awesome experience.

The start of our trip was rough, as we did not get phone service up at the cabin and the drive from the town is a good 20 minutes of rough, dirt roads. We initially did not have the code to the lock box, had to drive back down to get service, and go back up. Make sure you have the code before going! Once we got inside, we were all in awe. The cabin is absolutely stunning. The woodwork is amazing, the layout was perfect, and the huge fenced in yard was great for the dogs. This being a pet friendly place, I was impressed by how clean it was. They did not cut any corners on this property, and it is noticed. Everything was included in the cabin also, so there was really no reason to leave it. They had every necessity covered, and now I understand why others were hesitant to leave. The firewood was fully stocked and we went through a lot of it! We also saw some deer on the outside of the fence, until our dog ran up and tried to play with them. I could probably go on and on about how beautiful it was, but you need to experience it yourself. One of our best VRBO rentals ever! Thank you for allowing our family into your home!

A wonderful getaway!

My boyfriend James and I stayed here 5 nights at the end of December and didn't want to leave. (I'm writing the review on his account) This beautiful mountain getaway was clean, spacious, well-stocked and a delight to stay at. The kitchen is spacious for cooking meals. We grilled in the evenings and enjoyed coffee and the view from the patio every morning and evening. The fireplace was beautiful and cozy in the evenings for watching tv and just relaxing. The trip up the mountain wasn't hard and we had 4 wheel drive, but you probably wouldn't need it as long as there's no snow. We took a day trip to Jerome from here and went into town a couple times, but the hosts are correct... once you're here you don't really want to leave. We did some exploring of the trails and 4 wheeling, but mostly just enjoyed the place and the scenery. We really can't say enough about the hosts, Andy and Anne. They were extremely helpful, responsive and thoughtful, and they made our trip even more memorable with their hospitality. Through emails Andy discovered that my boyfriend had been in the Marine Corps (Andy is also USMC) . We were surprised and touched that Andy put out his Marine Corps flag along side the American flag for our arrival. I think they may have ruined future VRBO experiences for us; they were really just that great! There was nothing we needed that we didn't either bring or find was already stocked (paper products, cleaning products, kitchen supplies, firewood... just to name a few) If you're looking for a wonderful mountain getaway, this is the place!! We will definitely be back! James and Jenn

About the host

I grew up and went to school in Scottsdale but was born in Illinois. My wife was born in El Paso but grew up in Prescott. Originally Anne's Dad owned the whole 660 acre section. Her Mom and Step Father purchased some acreage from him and built the real Pioneer log cabin.

Why they chose this property

We were fortunate enough to purchase the cabin from Anne's mother Mary and her husband Chuck. We put a lot of work and money into it and turned it into the beautiful place it is today. The entire home was extensively remodeled in September of 2022.

What makes this property unique

We got the idea to rent when our friends would just flip out over the mountain experience. It is truly a place of serenity. We are confident you will enjoy and fall in love with this beautiful place.
