The historic Mayneview at Luray Overlook, circa 1865, was a station on the Underground Railroad, sits on 3 acres of land and has commanding views of town below and the mountains of Shenandoah National Park a few miles away. The property is also a bed and breakfast when not occupied as a whole house rental so it is better appointed than most other whole house rentals in terms of linens, maintenance and cleanliness. The house has been recently updated and features 6 bedrooms, each with private bath and flat screen tv, a sitting parlor, TV room, large dining room, spacious kitchen, wrap around porch, viewing deck with hot tub and efficiency cottage for rent if more space is required. Please see VRBO listing 1068132. This would increase occupancy to 17. Please contact us for details and availability. THE RATE LISTED IS FOR UP TO 8 GUESTS. ADDITIONAL GUESTS ARE $25 PER PERSON PER NIGHT.

Comfortably situated close to everything Luray and Page county have to offer, in town, but a quiet and restful location. A few blocks from downtown restaurants and shops, yet a mile from Luray Caverns (in fact, one of the co-discovers of the caverns built the Mayneview as a hunting lodge and there used to be a back entrance to the caverns on the property.), a couple miles from the National Park, Lake Arrowhead and the Shenandoah river.

This was a really lovely place! It's a beautiful house in a great location. It was big enough for a weekend away with friends - everyone had their own bedroom. It also had a great kitchen, which is perfect for those of us who like to cook!! Highly recommend this listing, would come here again!
Absolutely great experience and perfect for extended family gathering. Accommodations, facilities, staff and owner were all wonderful! House is quiet and in a great location. Would definitely stay here again!
We loved our stay. The property manager was very attentive and the house was great. The yard was also lovely. All the rooms were clean and modern with full bathrooms. We really enjoyed it.
We had a great time - the inn was perfect for our family get-together. The bedrooms and the whole place was very well maintained and cozy. Everyone in the family enjoyed the amenities and gathering in various rooms for fellowship. Bryce and Gregory stayed in contact throughout and ensured we had everything we needed. We loved it!

Joyce,
It was a pleasure hosting your family for the wedding! please come back and see us again soon!
Upon arrival the first A experience was the VIEW. What a gorgeous hilltop view of the mountains and town of Luray. Sunrise and full moon rise were a bonus. The home had great historic flare with the added perk of an incredibly large and modern kitchen plus 5 of the bedrooms had private recently remodeled bathrooms. (Actually that was the main reason we booked with you). 5 adult couples had plenty of space. We cooked breakfast and organized picnic lunches from the kitchen, played cards and ate at the large dining table, enjoyed the fire pit on one night and a few of us enjoyed the hot tub after hiking all day. The check in process with Bryce was very thorough, friendly and informative, and his on property inns keeper, Greg, was friendly and available for all of our questions throughout our stay. The overall location was very central and we hiked in the National Park multiple times, visited the Virginia Civil War museum and the Luray Caverns and we even played pickleball 4 times at the fantastic city park. We would definitely return. Thank you so much.
A few out-of-town friends and I rented this historic B&B for a long weekend, and it did not disappoint! We pulled up to an elevated, stately home and were immediately impressed. Bedrooms have individual updated bathrooms, and bonus room upstairs is a great chill-out spot for playing cards or games. We spent the most time in the spacious, gorgeous kitchen which is accompanied by cute, well-decorated lounging rooms for relaxing. Next to the house is a fantastic covered patio with a hot tub that overlooks the mountains, along with a large fire pit area for storytelling. Unfortunately, it rained the majority of the weekend — but thankfully the house kept us plenty satisfied! It is also a short drive to the Caverns, groceries, and restaurants. Bryce and Greg were warm and responsive hosts. I’d love to come back again soon!
Bryce and gregg were great. The house was amazing. We stayed for my 50th birthday with 11 of my close friends and family. We had a great time very spacious and clean we will be returning
After a wonderful visit in 2021, we booked this property again for our annual reunion of college friends. The house really has everything you could want or need for a weekend away from the city. Additionally, it is extremely well situated, offering both privacy and convenience. You can walk to downtown Luray, but are still only a <10 minutes drive away from shopping (e.g., Wal-Mart, gas stations) as well as 10-20 minutes drive away from local attractions (e.g., Shenandoah National Park, caverns, museums, mini-golf).
Property was more lovely than photos on website! Clean and spacious, excellent for all ages as we were teens to grandparents! Decor was fabulous and owner extremely easy to work with. A wonderful family Christmas reunion.
We rented this property over thanksgiving break and absolutely loved it. Hugh, who manages the property is great and was ever present to answer any questions or help with anything we needed. The rooms are fantastic and the large eat in kitchen is a great spot to hangout. The giant dining table is another bonus for a big group to eat together. It’s also very conveniently located if you want to visit Shenandoah National Park. You won’t go wrong renting this property, and honestly have nothing negative to say.
This was a lovely getaway spot that was walking distance into town, but private on it's own. We had all the amenities we could ask for. Having so many bathrooms and two ovens/stoves was a game changer for all the adults staying in our party.
The innkeeper, Hugh, was attentive to anything we asked for.
Although the weather held out for us and we spent most of our time on the outdoor deck, inside had enough space to relax and entertain if it had been raining.
Fantastic getaway for some much needed relaxation and day hikes. Bryce ( the owner) was v.helpful
Lovely decorated and renovated 1860s house that is used for a b&b some of the time and for whole house rental the other times. Amazing kitchen to cook for a large group- Bryce - the owner - super helpful with hiking ideas - keeps a well stocked set of hiking trails in a binder. Really beautifully decorated for Xmas. A lovely place for a family reunion for a special occasion.
A group of friends and I went for my 30th birthday. It was so beautifully decorated for Christmas. Bryce and Hugh were very responsive to all of my questions. There was firewood set out for us at night. The kitchen area was a great hangout area for us. We also loved the large dining area and the elbow room. Since we rented the whole property we also used the fireplace in the upstairs bedroom to hang out by. We only had 8 people so it was manageable to use the common areas well, however, with more adults the rooms aside from the dining room may be difficult for everyone to hang out around. Overall, we loved our stay and would definitely consider booking again!
This historic property was lovely for our family of 11. We celebrated our daughter's birthday as well as New Year's Eve in this home. The place is even better than the photos on the site! We were a group of grandparents, parents, and 4 teenagers.
The kitchen was wonderfully equipped as we had every pot, pan, dish, bowl, plate, cup, glass and utencil we could ever need. We particularly loved the large island for breakfast gatherings. Having two coffee makers in the kitchen was helpful for those who liked decaf or caffeine. Bryce was terrific with explanations as we checked in. He also gave us several hiking ideas which we enjoyed as well as restaurant suggestions. Of course we also visited the nearby Caverns.
The home was exceptionally clean and well cared for. Because we were there during the holidays, we were able to enjoy spectacular Christmas decor...trees and wreaths and decorations everywhere. It was so much more than we expected. No snow, but we did have an outdoor fire on New Year's Eve...the wood was all set to be lit! Fortunately for us, the hotel across the ridge produced a fabulous fireworks' display which we thoroughly enjoyed at midnight.
We would certainly highly recommend this home for a large group as each bedroom included a bathroom. It would be fun to be there in summer as well. The hosts were exceptionally accommodating. Thanks for a great location for our family gathering!!

Wonderful stay
This is a great place for a large group to stay. Beautiful home with gorgeous view of the valley. Bryce was an exceptional host and prepared a fire 2 nights outside for us. Didn’t cook any meals, but kitchen had everything you would need if you chose to. Luray was a cute little town with a variety of restaurants. Visited a winery nearby and Monticello and Montpelier. Great 3 nights.

Great rental for group events.
We stayed here as a group of 8 for a birthday party and had a wonderful time. This house is not remote...it's right in town, and you'll likely see one of the owners here and there. However, it sits up high with gorgeous views of the town below and mountains in the distance. We cooked several large meals during our stay, and the kitchen had everything needed. The upstairs is nicely updated, and the bathrooms in each room are well done. It almost felt as if you were entering a different house as you walked upstairs to the updated section. Because it's an old house, there aren't many spacious common areas, other than the large dining room. But the viewing deck and patio with firepit are likely where you'll want to spend a lot of your time. There are quiet hours in Luray, but that didn't seem to impact our ability to mingle on the deck. Additionally, with close proximity to hiking and some vineyards, it was the perfect pick for our weekend celebration.

Wonderful historic house!
We had a great stay at Mayneview at Luray Overlook two weeks ago. There were twelve of us who stayed there for the weekend to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. The house had plenty of room for all of us to be together and to have our own space when needed. The house was very clean and comfortable and we noticed how quiet the house is compared to other places that we've stayed. Overall, we all loved our stay and would definitely go back again. It was definitely the perfect location for our family get together.

Wedding Party House Rental
We were getting married in Luray and rented this house out for the bride/groom and entire wedding party. The owner was very accommodating. It was an awesome house with plenty of space for everyone to relax and prepare for the wedding. The views from the from porch and hot tub are incredible. The location was perfect. All in all couldn't have asked for a better place for our wedding weekend.

Great property! Perfect for a large family gathering!
I highly recommend the Mayneview B&B for large family gatherings. We had ample room and space for all of our holiday activities. I was very pleased with the owner's responsiveness before our stay--and his level of availability throughout our stay if needed. The Mayneview is a great old house that has been updated just enough for modern convenience--but without ruining the house's charm. I would definitely stay there again.
