Black Frye Cottage Albert Town, Wanaka

This charming cottage in the heart of Albert Town has plenty of character offering space, privacy and a fully fenced garden. It is cozy, warm and private with new, modern furniture. Double glazing, a wood burner and heat pump will keep you warm in the winter. A second living room gives larger families space to spread out. Walking distance to the Albert Town shops, Clutha River and the many walking and mountain biking tracks as well as the Double Black Cafe and the community swimming pool.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms - one with a king bed and the other with 2 king singles. There is also a bathroom with toilet. Downstairs there is a queen bedroom and separate living room. Separate toilet and a large bathroom. Open plan living/dining with fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and Nespresso (bring your own pods). There is also a separate laundry/kitchenette. Great for 2 groups wanting a bit of extra privacy and space.

Open plan living opens up to a large deck with outdoor furniture and BBQ.

You can relax in the private and quiet garden knowing your children will be safe. Fully fenced with mature and established trees and shrubs. Enjoy the peace and privacy yet only a 5 minute drive to downtown Wanaka.

Breakfast is not included but there are cafes close by.

It’s a five minute walk to the Albert Town shops where there is a small supermarket, Pembroke Patisserie, Prince Albert pub, fish and chip takeaway and fish restaurant. In the other direction the Double Black Cafe is a ten minute walk.

Guests have access to the Riverside community pool and gym facilities which are only a 5 minute walk away.

There are numerous walking and mountain biking tracks only a few minutes away. In the summer there is great boating, fishing and swimming. In the winter Cardrona and Treble Cone ski fields are a 40 min drive away.

We had a great time. The house was set up with everything we needed. Great location for our skiing in Cardrona and trip to Wanaka. Lots of space and fantastic yard for our dogs. Would definitely stay again!

Very comfortable and private spot in Albert Town. Love this part of Wanaka - so close to the river and the tracks. Was excellent property which allowed our fur babies to also enjoy our brief stay. Used as a base for the Wanaka multiport challenge - perfect!

Perfect house for a short new zealand stay in winter

The property is very well maintained and was perfect for a getaway with the family. The downstairs heater and fireplace well and truly kept the house warm during the cold winter nights. Only 5 mins away from Wanaka itself and the amazing "Hook - Lake to Plate" Salmon farm 300m away was an absolute win with the kids. Plenty of room for 2 adults and two kids. Were headed up to Cardrona each day which is only around 40 odd minutes from the house.

We had a great stay at this lovely house in Albert town. Arrived to a warm cozy house that was kitted out with everything we needed and plenty of space and wi fi for our large teens. The hosts were super accomodating and fast at communicating. Combined with amazing weather and skiing it was the perfect trip. Thanks again.

Fantastic, warm and well equipped house

We had a great stay in this property. The facilities were excellent and clean. It was warm with the heat pumps, fire and electric blankets. Views from the top windows gorgeous. The kitchen was well equipped, really great to have a slow cooker while we were skiing.

Exceeded expectations

We really enjoyed our stay at Black Frye Cottage. The cottage had heaps of space for two couples and two children. It was warm and comfortable, and well equipped. Communication with the hosts was excellent, and they were proactive in getting in touch when our original booking was impacted by COVID restrictions. We chose to move our booking to a later date, and are so glad we did. Highly recommended.

Perfect Getaway house

Unfortunately covid cut our trip short (we arrived the level 4 lockdown was announced and had to leave the next day to get home). But the house the perfect spot for us, it was so lovely and warm and well equipped with everything you could need to make your stay great (kitchen equipment, pantry essentials, bedding, heating, etc). Sarah was really helpful and accommodating when we had to pack up and leave a day after arrival and made our stressful trip home just a little smoother. We will be back!

Great holiday home

As a family of 5 with our dog, this holiday home was the perfect size. The separate room downstairs worked well for our teenage son and the two lounges meant no fighting over the TV! The garden was secure for the dog. This is a lovely, warm house and we would definitely stay there again

We stayed with our 10 year old daughter and our dog for a long weekend, the property was sparkling clean (we have some dust mite allergies and no one was bothered the entire stay) this hands down the cleanest property we have stayed in over the last few years in Wanaka. The property is very well fenced and secure. Plenty of space for all The kitchen was well supplied and had a handy supply of the basic food and cooking essentials- which we topped up. There are other mixed rentals near by and the younger tenants across the way did have loud music, which was the only down side we experienced and this was quickly dealt with by the permanent neighbours. Over all excellent

We are a family of 4, with 2 children now in their 20’s. We love Wanaka and spend as much time there as we can. Walking, jet-boating, mountain-biking. skiing and enjoying the many wonderful cafes and restaurants in the area. It is a beautiful place with so much to do. We love sharing our home with our guests and hope they get to love this place us much as we do.

Why they chose this property

This property is very quiet and peaceful as well as extremely private. Plenty of space for larger families or 2 couples travelling together. There is a second lounge downstairs with its own TV as well as a separate kitchenette with kettle, toaster, and fridge.
