Central Pennsylvania Shoff-Read Century Farmhouse Vacation Rental

Our farmhouse was built circa 1885 and the farm has been owned and maintained by the family for over 150 years. Five generations of our family have lived on the farm, and we are now making the farmhouse available for those needing a quiet, country retreat or vacation rental for an entire family looking for a place to stay while attending a wedding, family reunion or other special occasion in the area. The house is also ideal for those visiting the Clearfield area for recreational purposes. The quiet and peaceful setting would also be attractive for those who write. The home sits on nearly 200 acres consisting of farmed fields, grazing pasture for cattle, and forested areas bordering the property.

This century farmhouse has been lovingly renovated, modernized, and furnished with mixed period antiques and current day style, yet keeping with the character of a farmhouse built in the 19th century.

Our farmhouse has 12 rooms with 2 stories for your use, consisting of 4 bedrooms upstairs (one queen, three full size beds) and one downstairs bedroom with a twin bed & a sleeper sofa with the ability to sleep up to 10 people in the home.
There are 3 full size bathrooms (2 upstairs and 1 downstairs) with all towels and linens supplied. It has a modern kitchen equipped with all appliances and cookware.

This is a lovely vacation home for those wanting a quiet, comfortable home to enjoy for relaxation or for an entire family looking for a place to have extended time together.

Our home is non-smoking. Smoking is permitted outside or on the porch but not anywhere in the home.

Another Amazing Stay!

We stayed here on October for a wedding and fell in love with the house and the location. It was the perfect place to spend the week of Christmas with family. The house was beautifully decorated for the holiday! There had been a snowfall on Christmas Eve, so the ground was snow covered and beautiful with the Christmas tree lit in front room. Thank you so much for sharing your house with us!

Real nice place that was very clean, clean, clean.

Enjoyed our stay in a great house. Susan makes the best banana bread. I forgot the electrical plug for my computer and Susan was kind enough to bring me hers. This house was very clean and we enjoyed our stay. It is off the beaten path and has everything you would need to get away and rewind.

Fall 2023 Getaway

This was our 5th time that we have stayed at the Farmhouse and this time like the other 4 times was excellent. We have always arrived and Susan has the lights on and door unlocked. She also had freshly baked sweets sitting on the counter. We would recommend this property to anyone who would like to get away and relax ā€” sitting on the swing or chairs on the front porch watching the Amish go by in their horse drawn buggies with the American Flag flying.

Summer Get Away

This property is a jewel for those who love and appreciate a quiet, peaceful, and country setting. My wife and I have been here 4 times over the past 20 months (averaging a week on each stay), we plan to return for a week in October. The owner goes out of her way to make sure everything is perfect and is quick to correct if something does go off track. We stay in VRBOā€™s on a regular basis and we are thankful that we found this one. Anyone who stays here and not give it 5 Stars, probably should not be booking a home that is over a 100 years old and packed with antiques.

Amazing gem!

We had such an amazing time visiting your home. It was laid out perfectly for our group of 4. Plenty of space to be together or apart, whichever you needed. We canā€™t wait until our next stay in December! From my sister in law: My brother and sister in law invited me and my daughter to stay the weekend here with them, knowing that it might help to get away for a bit after my husband passed away. What a great weekend it was and what a fantastic place to spend it! Iā€™m big on history and relaxing on a beautiful autumn weekend in this wonderful house was a great experience. Besides all of the history displayed here, it was so comfortable as well. It was very impressive the way the house preserved its beginnings, but had every modern convenience. Plus, there were so many added extra touches throughout this home, just to make it that much more enjoyable. I hadnā€™t slept so well or comfortably in quite a while, and was sorry when the weekend came to an end. We enjoyed our stay inside and out here, and are looking forward to coming back to this wonderful home- thank you for making it available!

Great place to get away and enjoy rural life

This house is so amazing. If you are looking for a great place to get away from urban life, then this is your place. I grew up in the area, but moved to more urban areas a long time ago. I was looking for something that reminded me of my youth. House is very spacious, five very comfortable bedrooms and three bathrooms. Loved the little treats that were left for us to snack on, just like the hospitality I was use to growing up with. Susan is a wonderful host! Kitchen is well stocked for any of your basic needs. Outside seating, front porch is very inviting. I will be back again.

A peaceful, away-from-it-all retreat

If you are looking for a peaceful, unique ā€œaway-from-it-allā€ vacation, look no further. The photos do not accurately portray how amazing this house is. It was like living in a museum for a week. The beautiful antique beds made our daughters feel like princesses. The front porch was amazing, and we thoroughly enjoyed hearing the horse drawn carriages go by throughout the day. We loved seeing the cows in the fields throughout the day and the view from the top of the hill was magnificent. The field across from the house was a great place to play frisbee and football. The pond had frogs, snakes, fish, and large birds. The house has everything you need for cooking and baking. Our hosts thought of everything, including snacks. The entire property is impeccably decorated and immaculately clean. We really enjoyed our get away from busy DC area lives. It was a thirty-minute drive to any store or activity, but hiking, fishing, canoeing/kayaking is within reach if you donā€™t mind a little bit of driving time. This was a perfect getaway for our family to reconnect after the long COVID isolation.
