Great location, all else disappointing

At check-in they should have told us the pool had a 2 ft crack in bottom and we would have to fill it daily for hours with COLD WATER from garden hose, that the downstairs toilet was in disrepair, and most times was unusable, the back yard still was infested with insects and unusable, and deck had rotted decking with exposed screw that easily could have punctured someone's hand grabbing the side of pool. Both of the previous issues were previously reported in July. Why weren't they addressed? Caulking around garden tub upstairs was moldy. Kitchen and bathroom counters and handrails were extremely clean however, and so were beds, linens, and towels. King beds were extremely comfortable. Never sat on any other furniture inside property because they felt dirty just like the dirty/stained carpets and vinyl peeling up in bathrooms. Too much $ for this property. Would not suggest to anyone to ever stay here unless the owners put some of their profit into upkeep and maintenance like replacing that faulty toilet. Wouldn't even flush just urine! Kept wanting to overflow even after 2 visits from maintenance. SURPRISED that VRBO would represent this property! How disappointing for us. Thank God the weather was good an we could escape this dreary atmosphere.

Serviceable beach house at price point

We were glad to find something available and reasonably priced for summer 2021 given the demand. The house is aging a bit (exterior paint peeling, some rotten decking — a few splinters, decor a bit dated, etc.). At the price point, however, it’s in line with realistic expectations. Comfortable bedrooms, functional kitchen. The location is pretty good (on row 5 from the beachfront), with the beach accessible within a 10-15 minute walk and the driving entrance/exit just a couple minutes away. The street is very quiet and Whalehead is a great area for families. The Corolla Light shops are walkable/bikeable if you want to for ice cream or dining. The lot is large and the houses spaced so that you’re not right on top of someone else. The property manager (Brindley Beach) was responsive when called. Overall, we had a good stay at The Tradition.

We have stayed at lots of properties and never left a negative review... During the initial arrival it was obvious the property wasn’t taken care of but we are low maintenance and didn’t really care... the property had beer cans in the front bushes, the deck was covered in leaves and there were cobwebs everywhere outside.. we didn’t really care about this but I did wonder why they wouldn’t blow everything off in between uses... the inside was in ok condition minus the dirty clothes covered in baby powder in a draw... That night the kids went swimming and did end up having splinters since the deck is so old and falling apart .. no big deal The next morning we woke up to bees everywhere .. not just a few flying around but the entire yard was completely infested in large bees coming out of the ground.. I called the property managers and was told they don’t take care of bees and not to use the area they were in ... this ment you couldn’t use the yard, volleyball net or hose shoes ... at this point I was angry because part of the reason we booked this property was to use these amenities... i asked for a manager and received no help ... I also told them that the cornhole was missing the bags and she said that because it wasn’t listed in the amenities they wouldn’t give us some to use... at this point I was really angry and felt like the customer service was horrible.. I tried to explain that since we couldn’t use the other amenities because of the bees the least they could do is lend us some bags ... Long story short after numerous calls they did come out to address the hives on the deck..when he came out I showed him the back yard covered in hundreds of bees he completely agreed it was unsafe and they need a professional out there ASAP.. he also did say that they had tons of cornhole bags right in the management company and ran those down to us ... not sure why if they had them a mile down the road she didn’t give them to us to begin with... the professionals never came during our visit so we were unable to use any of these amenities... The deck is falling apart on the pool side... lots of weak rotting spots.... the railing on the side of the pool is totally loose and unsafe as your 20ft off the ground ..and the gate doesn’t lock so young kids can just push it open.. Bottom line is the customer service from brindley beach who I rented through was awful and the property is unsafe especially with young children...
