Stepping into this 1910 historic cracker house feels like stepping back in time — yet with all the comforts of today. Much of the original structure and walls remain, carrying over a century of stories within them. If walls could talk, they would share tales of the families and lives that have filled this space over generations. Guests often remark on the good vibes here, where friendly spirits seem to linger and the atmosphere feels both welcoming and serene. The home is set on a spacious corner lot, giving you privacy and room to spread out. There’s plenty of parking — even for oversized vehicles, motorhomes, or boats — so you can bring along your toys for Florida’s lakes and open roads. The quiet street and distance between neighbors make the property feel like its own little world, perfect for those who want to escape the noise of city life. Step outside onto the backyard deck, where mornings are best enjoyed with coffee in hand and evenings invite conversation under the stars. The fenced backyard makes it easy to relax knowing children or pets can safely roam. This home is proudly pet-friendly, welcoming your furry family members to join in your stay. Inside, you’ll discover the perfect mix of character and comfort. Original details remind you of the home’s history, while blackout drapes in the bedrooms ensure sunlight won’t disturb your rest. You’ll find each space filled with charm, warmth, and thoughtful touches designed to make you feel at home. When you’re ready to explore, the location couldn’t be better. Several parks are nearby, downtown Kissimmee is just minutes away with its shops, festivals, and restaurants, and Lake Tohopekaliga — with its marina, trails, and unforgettable sunsets — is only blocks away. The area also offers plenty of scenic bike trails and beautiful golf courses, perfect for active guests who want to enjoy Florida’s outdoors. And of course, Central Florida’s world-famous attractions are close by: Disney is about 30–40 minutes, Cocoa Beach and Melbourne an hour, and Tampa a bit further but ideal for a day trip. Whether you’re here for history, relaxation, or adventure, this home offers a unique experience that stands apart from modern rentals. It’s not just a place to stay — it’s a place to feel connected, to rest deeply, and to create stories of your own within its storied walls.

We loved hanging out on the back deck while the dog hunted lizards. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the location was great. We enjoyed our week here!

Thank you for staying Scott, the home is so close to the marina and downtown, very convenient location! See you on your next boat trip
The host was extremely helpful, courteous and kind. I wasn’t too impressed with the beef selection in the chain grocery’s around town, but the host keyed me in to a great farmers market right down the street. We got some great tritip and a big bag of the best beef bacon I ever consumed. The house is a cool older design, it was great. I would recommend and stay again.
We have stayed at the purple house quite a few times and the communication with property owner is excellent. We are able to openly make suggestions for improvement and many times those improvements have been made. If you are looking for great communication with a property owner, and a quaint little house...the purple house is your go-to stay.
Good location for visiting with family in the area
We usually book by a hotel when visiting family in the St Cloud, FL area and this was a much easier option. Super close to out daughter’s house and pet friendly without smelling like pets have been here as I have terrible allergies.

Thank you for staying. I appreciate your cleanliness; have a wonderful and happy New year!
Everything was great and met our needs for our 10 day visit. Our host was excellent and even upgraded some things since our last stay. The location is in a quiet neighborhood and conveniently located near the local stores and restaurants. We're looking forward to another visit when in the area! Thanks again Karen!
The cottage was a perfect place for my son and I to stay for his fishing tournament on the lake, which was just a few blocks away. It was clean, and exactly as described in pictures. The host was great and super friendly! She responded to all inquiries quickly, introduced herself to us when there, and accommodating to our needs. Would stay there again.

We really liked the “Purple House”. It was perfect for our family of 4, it was close to many dining options and about 30 minutes from the parks. Ms. Karen was very helpful and super nice. The house is a little on the older side, but has a lot of character. Thank you for letting us stay in your house.

About the host
Hosted by Karen Crane
I’m originally from New York, later lived along the beautiful Jersey Shore, and for the past 35 years I’ve been lucky to call Florida home.
Travel has always been a passion of mine — I enjoy not only exploring new places but also the planning that goes into it. If you ever need tips or help with your trip, I’d be happy to share what I’ve learned from visiting many amazing countries and staying everywhere from luxury resorts to hidden gems off the beaten path. With a lifelong background in the hotel and hospitality industry, I truly value creating a clean, comfortable, and welcoming space for my guests. I even spent time as a charter bus driver, navigating weekend ski trips and casino adventures — an experience that gave me plenty of stories and an even deeper love for helping people enjoy their journeys.
At home, I love growing my own food and have turned my property into a tropical food farm. Depending on the season, you’ll find avocados, papayas, figs, mangos, starfruit, chocolate pudding fruit, eggfruit, and fresh vegetables. It’s a little slice of paradise, and I love sharing its beauty with others.
I’m also an animal lover with two sweet chihuahuas, and I enjoy pet sitting whenever I can. Cooking and baking are another passion of mine — I find joy in creating meals and treats that bring people together. Most of all, I cherish being a proud grandmother, which has taught me even more about patience, kindness, and enjoying life’s simple moments.
Life has taught me to find joy in every moment. After a health challenge in 2020, I discovered the teachings of Dr. Joe Dispenza and Dr. Mark Hyman, which inspired me to embrace meditation, spirituality, and the healing power of food. Today, I’m grateful to live fully, with a deep appreciation for people, nature, and the idea that we can create the life we want. I look forward to welcoming you, sharing a little sunshine, and helping make your stay in Florida a truly memorable one! 🌿☀️🐾✨
Why they chose this property
What I cherish most about my neighborhood is the peace and quiet — it truly feels like a retreat from the busyness of everyday life. The community has a warm, welcoming spirit, and one of my favorite things is how many neighbors decorate their lawns and homes for every holiday. From Valentine’s Day and the 4th of July to Halloween and Christmas, the streets light up with festive displays that make the area feel alive and joyful year-round.
My home is just seven blocks from our beautiful lakefront and marina, where you can enjoy a restaurant with a view, a two-mile walking path, a playground, and even a splash pad for kids. The lake is one of the neighborhood’s treasures — perfect for a morning walk, an evening stroll, or catching breathtaking sunsets every night. My property also has plenty of parking if you’d like to bring your boat and enjoy Lake Tohopekaliga to the fullest.
I’m also only ten blocks from our charming downtown, filled with great restaurants, local bars, and unique shopping. Just two miles away is downtown Kissimmee, which hosts outdoor festivals throughout the year along with even more shopping and dining. Whether it’s a local market, live music, or seasonal celebration, there’s always something fun happening nearby.
The location also makes it easy to explore Central Florida’s best attractions. In just 30–40 minutes, you can be at Disney World and experience all the magic it has to offer. The Atlantic Ocean is about an hour away, with Cocoa Beach and Melbourne providing the perfect spot for a day trip to the sand and surf. If you’d like to head west, Tampa is only about an hour and a half away. Whether you’re seeking theme parks, beaches, or vibrant city life, everything is close enough for a quick and memorable getaway.
This balance of peaceful living, a festive community, natural beauty, and unbeatable access to Florida’s top destinations is why I love where I live — and I’m excited to share it with my guests. 🌴✨
What makes this property unique
Built in 1910, my home is a true piece of Florida history — a classic “cracker house” that has stood the test of time. Many of the original features, from its walls to its structure, remain intact, giving the house a sense of charm and authenticity you won’t find in newer builds. If walls could talk, this home would surely have plenty of fascinating stories to tell. Guests often remark on the welcoming energy of the space, and some even say they feel the presence of friendly spirits that add to the good vibes and unique character of the property.
Set on a spacious corner lot, the house offers plenty of privacy with neighbors not too close by, making it a peaceful retreat from the everyday hustle. The backyard is fully fenced, making it both pet-friendly and family-friendly, with a deck that’s perfect for relaxing outdoors. Whether you’re enjoying your morning coffee, reading a book, or gathering with loved ones, the yard offers a quiet and comfortable escape.
Another standout feature is the amount of parking available. The property has enough space to accommodate a tractor-trailer, motorhome, or even a boat — something you won’t find at many other homes in the area. This makes it a great option for guests traveling with larger vehicles, road trippers, or those looking to spend time out on nearby lakes and waterways. Inside, comfort has been thoughtfully considered. With blackout-style drapes in the bedrooms, you can sleep in without being disturbed by the early morning sun. Combined with the home’s quiet street location, this ensures a restful stay for every guest.
Conveniently located near several parks, the property provides easy access to nature and outdoor activities while still being close to all the attractions Central Florida is famous for. It’s the perfect blend of history, character, space, and comfort — a home that truly stands out from the rest.
