About this property

The Crackenback Stables was designed by Casey Brown Architecture and has won international design award. It sits on 40 hectares of mountain land, abundant wildlife including wombats, kangaroos, deer and occasionally emus. This is the perfect place for you and your family to spend some time away from the cities, enjoy the mountain vista, without missing out on all the luxuries of city life. If you wish to bring your horses or dog please check with the host first.

Two of three cooktops are not working at the moment, we are trying our best to have them fixed but because they’re overseas models it could take some time. In the meantime we have provided portable gas cooktops for any cooking needs. Apologies in advance for any inconvenience.

Great location, lovely views

The property is in a great location and has views of snow capped mountains from the main area. Architecturally innovative. Unfortunately it did not quite hit the mark in terms of offerings considering the expense of staying there. It is ski season and properties are in short supply but there items that may be considered. A coffee machine is needed- Nescafé instant tubes are not enough. The electricity supply needs an overhaul. One night the whole supply to ours and the manager’s property blew multiple times. Had to abandon cooking and head into town. Subsequently we could only use one appliance at a time for fear of blowing the circuit. The ma

Fantastic farm stay

Stayed for 4 nights to participate and spectate a local event. Communication from the host and farm manager was great and the property is spectacular. Location was good and central to travel between Thredbo, Perisher and Jindabyne.

Perfect for our family trip

This property is beautiful and in a perfect location. Close to shops and about 25min from Thredbo. Great for kids as there is outside space around the house. Would have loved to see the horses although groups of Kangaroos showed up most days. The kitchen was large and has everything you need. Bathrooms and bedrooms, spacious. Highly recommend for a family trip.
