About this property

Single Family Cottage Perfect for Families with Kids Charm and Sunset Included

This charming cottage is situated in the perfect location about 2 hours from Toronto near Parry Sound in a lovely small town McKellar. Fall in love with this hidden gem on a beautiful lot overlooking Grey Owl Lake. The cottage has a lot of heart and is welcoming and warm with a typical cottage feel, wooden walls, wooden furniture fresh out of a fairy tale. The large windows and slightly elevated location as well peninsula like location give you a 120 degree view from the living room, dining area, and kitchen. Perfect for families with kids, has a flat grassy area along the wide water front, and a small shallow sandy beach area. The cottage is surrounded by very few neighbours and feels private.

Enjoy your days in the outdoors, fishing, swimming and/or meditating on the dock.

For any shopping needs, McKellar, which is a 5 minute drive has a convenience store, LCBO, an ice cream place, fresh farm eggs, and more. Parry Sound, which is 20 minutes away has a large grocery store, Canadian Tire, Starbucks, and many more.

Pleasant time in cottage country
Elena was a responsive host. Her cottage is well kept and included everything we expected and needed. The cottage is easy to get to from Toronto and the lake is clean and was great for us to swim and paddle in our kayaks. Very peaceful and quiet. Perfect for us! Would be good for a family with young children as well.

Small cottage in a beautiful setting
We had a very nice week. The cottage is located on a beautiful and peaceful lake. The cottage itself is small, but it was what we had expected. The location itself however exceeded expectations. There are beautiful views of the water from the cottage deck and from the dock. We were up the last week in June. During this time the lake was very quite with very little boat traffic. Swimming was great (mainly off the dock; the water at this point is deep). My six year old granddaughter had a great time in the water, as well as on the trampoline. There is also a canoe, kayak, and paddle board, as well as various floaties to use. And we enjoyed using the fire pit at night. Overall- an excellent experience. Be advised however, that the shower stall is located in a basement below the cottage, and is not very high. So if you are tall it may be a bit challenging to use.

Perfect getaway from the city!
Decided to take a little getaway from the city for a week and this was the perfect place to do so! Check in was very easy - no contact entry. Elena's cottage was very clean and tidy. Exactly as pictured in the photos. It had a nice fireplace to keep us warm during the day and night. The property is big and located right on the water. Loved the canoe on site. Elena was a great host! Definitely looking forward to come back in the summer.

Great location on the lake
Towards the quiet end of the lake, little traffic. Nice water for swimming, great for fishing, loved Elenas canoe! Cottage was very clean and tidy. Cute place, just bit smaller than seemed in photos. Wish the shower had access from the cottage, it was under the cottage in a low ceiling area, entry from outdoors. Not an issue for me but too low for my tall husband and son. It was a very hot week, but the fans helped cool the place. Overall it was a very nice stay, Elena was a good host and addressed all our questions.

Small, no shower and way too rustic
The shower was unusable. It was full of giant moths and mosquitoes. The water stopped working on the third day. The owner said she would refund us for the time it stopped working. She did not. The beds smelled musty and of mildew. The only consolation was that the kids enjoyed the trampoline and the outdoors. Other than that, I do not think this place was worth the money that was spent. The mosquitoes were unbelievable. We had so many bites we looked like we had the chicken pox. Will definitely not be coming back.
