Great property layout - the great room is huge and has several areas for folks to congregate: puzzle people in that corner; game people over here; cooks in the kitchen. That area of the house is a wonderful space. We had a few issues with the electronics, including: that large TV in that great room could use a sound bar (the native TV speakers are very poor), identifying which remote goes with which device could be made more obvious, and several remotes were without batteries. Despite those concerns, the positives far outweigh the negatives - great house, great location.

We had an amazing week. The location is fantastic, the layout was really comfortable and allowed for togetherness and separation. There is some wear and tear on the place but nothing that was problematic or kept us from having a memorable and relaxing week.

The heated pool was a winner given the cool days during our stay. We liked the central location to so many stores, restaurants, etc. Will consider renting it again. Only complaint is the dryer, took multiple cycles to get clothes dried.

Multiple empty propane tanks were near the grill area. A very thick layer of sand covered everything around the pool and deck. We cleaned most of the area to use it.

Reviewer Comments: The property itself needs some renovations/upgrades and they really need to hire better cleaners! From dirty sheets to sandy carpets and a general mold smell in the lower level, we were a bit underwhelmed with the property. The only redeeming quality was that there was plenty of space, the location was nice, and my family!

Party by the beach!

I'm assuming it's pretty typical for the location, but the pool filled with sand multiple times. Also, the house keeping crew did not clean under the dresser in the bunk room and there were goldfish crackers under there when we arrived. The dryer took forever to dry the clothes, but it was nice to have access to that so we weren't taking dirty laundry home. Again, lot's of positives. We enjoyed our stay and the location was ideal. The ice cream store across the way was definitely a plus for the kids. As well as the little grocery store.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved this house and location but we will never rent from Beach Realty again. Three years in a row we've paid for pool heat but each year something was broke and Beach Realty couldn't get it fixed. This time the pool heater was out of gas and they couldn't get a propane truck to fill it up. Last year, it was broken and they couldn't get it fixed. Three years ago the filter was leaking and they couldn't get it fixed. We've had enough and will never have anything to do with Beach Realty again.

SO MUCH BETTER NOW

We liked the actual property then, but it was being poorly maintained by the rental company, the house was filthy, light bulbs out and etc. We contacted the rental Company and they did not respond, end of story. We saw that a different rental company had the property now and said let's give them a chance. Excellent, clean house, now well maintained, so glad we gave them a chance. Only thing that we would like to see changed is something that can't be changed because of state/city law, the sand dune on the deck to the entrance to the beach, blocks our view of the beach, but we can live with it, great job Beach Realty. Would like to tell you who the former rental company was but that would probably be deleted, but I will say the name has similar words if you look up to the sky during the day and that object blinds you.

June 2024 trip

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property perfectly fits our families' needs and we like the location as well. Furniture, etc., inside and out, are in very good condition. The elevator is a life saver for an elderly dog and bringing in bags to bedrooms and kitchens. Two issues - the need to traverse the sand dune, which was more difficult this year than last, would limit use of this house to people without mobility issues. That should be communicated somehow. We're all in good health and it was still a challenge to lug umbrellas, chairs, kids up and down the dune. We understand you can't excavate the sand down to the original stairs, but a new railing would go a long way to helping. Second, the exterior, particularly in the rear, could use a good sanding and paint. While the house functions well, it detracts from its appearance and might lead others to think that other aspects of the house are not being maintained. Last, we noticed a crack in the ceiling over the kitchen. Looks like water damage from a roof leak.

Great for large families

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Dune Diamond was overall a perfect vacation home. Plenty of space to get together as a group and plenty of smaller seating areas on all floors to get some quiet time. The elevator was so nice when unpacking and packing up cars and for groceries. The kitchen was well stocked with dishware/pots & pans. The two small refrigerators upstairs helped keep drinks separate and leave main fridge for food. The downstairs fridge was nice for pool drinks/food and kept us from having to go upstairs. The house was very clean which we were concerned about because we stayed at another house with a different rental company last year that was not clean. The house is in a good location with Fat Boyz Ice Cream across the street and Cahoons Market two houses away. There were plenty of shops and restaurants fairly close. The only complaints were that two mattresses were very stiff and the sand covering the steps to the beach which meant scrambling up & down a pretty large sand hill making it hard to get tents/wagons down to the beach. It would be very hard for an older person or anyone with any mobility issues to get to/from the beach. I understand that sand moves and covers things, but it could be shoveled off every once in a while. But, as I said, overall it was a beautiful house and our group loved it.

More cons than pros - needs updating and repairs

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Pros: plenty of space, nice open floor plan, large bedrooms, well stocked kitchen, good location in Nags Head, right next to small grocery store and across from great ice cream spot our kids loved. Cons: house needs renovations and general upkeep. During our stay, there was a leak from one of the mid level master baths down to closet in bedroom downstairs. Closet was unusable and smelled moldy. One of the couples in our group wasn’t able to use their shower for 3 days until the leak was repaired. Maintenance / repair men in and out most of the week. Hot tub didn’t work when we arrived, called office 4 times and we ended up figuring out how to fix it ourselves after waiting 4 days without anyone coming to fix. Pool light didn’t work, also reported, and never repaired. Corn hole bags were old and stinky... expected given proximity to pool, so why not replace every few weeks or months so people can use(?). Most major thing... wood stairs on back of house are uneven and run down in some places. One of the women staying with us tripped going down one night and ended up in ER w broken ankle. This is the 5th house we’ve rented in OBX and had the most issues with it.

Great house for large family

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: PROS: The house was perfect for our extended family of 11 adults & 6 children. Great-grandmother(90yr) to 2 yr old. All master-suite bedrooms were so helpful in not having to share a hall bathroom! Many gathering areas on each floor inside home & in upstairs Great Room. There was even a nice sized table for a puzzle & Lego building at the same time. House was clean on arrival. Location was great, near stores, grocery & restaurants. Pool was enjoyed by all. Straight walkway to beach was very nice. Elevator was a plus for G.G. & move-in/out day. Great icecream store right across street & restaurants in walking distance. We spent a lot of time on top deck enjoying the views.Lots of pots & pans. Very nice to have #2 full refrig on lower level + 2 small refrig on top level. TV's everywhere! G.Kids had fumaking a fort with "building pillows" on middle floor gathering space. Spare cot in one closet was helpful one night.CONS: **10' of walkway to beach was covered with sand 6"-12+"?, so GG could not walk to end to enjoy watching everyone on the beach....Not maintained for years due to plants growing thru railing slats. **Not many food storage options. Very nice B.R. employee brought a replacement elec. griddle, as 4 in house didn't work quite right (according to those on breakfast detail)**2 outside grills not in working order, so meals were changed to inside cooking only.**Only 1 Pool table cue had a tip & there was no chalk... we did play, but all should be in working condition for this house.**Check-in day.....Cleaning crew didn't arrive until approx 4pm. We were not allowed to enter until 5:40p, although the cleaning crew left at 5:08p. I had to call to get an "all clear", rather than get a text. (we were waiting across the street at the icecream shop since 3p)

We are glad you brought the maintenance items to our attention during your stay, so that they may be addressed as soon as possible. Our check-in window is typically between 4-6pm. This is to ensure ample time has been given so that cleaners can complete their work and so an inspector can check behind them. We apologize for any confusion that may have occurred. Still, we are glad that the whole family enjoyed their stay overall at Dune Diamond!

Great for a large family

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Lots of positives and a few negatives. The house was very well equipped and sized for a large group. King BRs were comfortable and main living area was larger than appears in photos. Bunk room beds only good for little kids as the mattresses were not great. Furnishings were nice and in good condition. Ice cream right across the street and the Pier and a small grocery is a few doors down. The main negatives had to do with the major inconvenience of two maintenance issues and poor handling by the rental company. The biggest was being woken at 8am by workers sawing apart the hot tub. No warning and no consideration for the time of day. Second was a dishwasher needing replacement which took most of a whole day with power off to the main floor. Both should have been done on a Sat. Also, don't leave valuables outside as we found three 20 something guys using the pool one day.

Great time with Family

Only had 2 issue come up during our stay. 1- refrigerator leaked from the bottom. 2- internet went down but called and repair man was there in less than an hour. Overall great time.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I was unhappy with the service. I called the 2nd day we were there to service 2 of the toilets that were not working properly. No one ever came to take care of them. There were also cockroaches in the house. The shower at the pool, the door would not open for us to use. Was not satisfied with this rental.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have rented Dune Diamond for five years in a row now. This is a perfect house for our family, including our dog! We first rented it when our mother was coming with us as it had the elevator and each room had it's own bathroom. We love the upgrades each year that the owner has done. This year the addition of the glass on the tables, the laundry baskets, upgrading of some of the furniture and also the new game table in the basement was wonderful. Last year the upgrade to the pool area was fantastic! We did have an issue in that the oven which was damaged prior to our arrival was not replaced until Friday September 10th. We found out on Sunday September 5th that the oven glass inside had shattered. We called immediately but Monday was Labor day and offices closed. I spoke with Charles on Tuesday and he indicated it was an issue with the vendor due to weather conditions and couldn't get the oven replaced. He indicated he would speak to Tiffany I believe who had this property to see if there could be any monetary compensation for the loss of a major appliance for the week. I never heard back from anyone. I will also follow up with a phone call this week. The powder room in the top level toilet was broken all week, also reported and known prior to our stay. It finally got fixed on Saturday September 11th in about 20 minutes right before we left. We really do like this property but this week was the 2nd time that the beach area was just about inaccessible due to the waves. I know this is not in your control at all, but to pay as much as we did and not have much beach time was a bit disappointing. All of the beach enrichment done about 4 years ago was washed away. This is such a shame but not in anyone's control. The property is in such a great location, a great house to stay in, but we do like to be on the beach. We are waiting to see if the current renters are going to reserve this house for next year and hoping they don't as we would like to reserve.

Main fridge is a little small but there were 2 dish washers, which we used daily. We were quite pleased and could return in the future.
