About this property
Cozy traditional A-frame Cabin, SKI IN AND OUT!
Pretty much everyone who walks in the door says, "now THIS is what a mountain cabin is supposed to feel like!" We have ski patches on the wall, trophies left from long-ago ski races, a wood burning fireplace, old ski posters for decor, a deck and big yard for kids, cozy bedrooms with lots of quilts and then! In the winter you are only a few steps from the lifts and in the summer, hiking begins out the front door.
The cabin was built by our parents in1963 when there wasn’t much going on except great skiing. Since then we have spent many a great ski season and many a warm Montana summer night enjoying this special place. It's fully equipped but still cozy. It has Internet and TV and great old-fashioned style. When you walk in the door you are in the ski room where you can stash all the gear. The kitchen, dining and living area are just around the corner and there you'll find the wood burning fireplace and a dining table that can hold 6-8. On the main floor you'll also find the bathroom and two bedrooms, one equipped with a queen and the other with two twin beds. Upstairs there is a small open loft (good for kid's play) and then a large bedroom holding a king and a queen bed.
The location is amazing. You can see Chair 3 out the (big) front windows and it is literally steps away. As kids, we would ski home for chili at lunchtime. As adults, it’s just a few minutes walk to all the bars and restaurants on the mountain. This fun cabin is full of great memories and is ready for more! If you aren’t already sold on Whitefish Mountain as a vacation, let me brag on it a bit. In winter, you’ll find some of the best terrain in the west. The views into Glacier Park are extraordinary and the services on the mountain are excellent. In summer the hiking trails are plentiful and there are zip-lines, slides and other entertainment. Nearby Whitefish (10 minutes) is one of the coolest big towns in the west, full of good shopping, golf, lake activities, ambiance and cuisine. And then there is the Crown of the Continent, Glacier Park, only a 45 minute drive away.
All this is available to you—and our little cabin is also only 30 minutes from the airport—and no traffic.

The A-Frame was just as I had hoped it would be! Our entire group loved it. Access to chair 3 right outside the door and stocked with everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. This property would be the first I would look for when we get back to Whitefish!
Great place! A true vintage ski cabin. You can see chair 3 right out the front window a few hundred feet away. Beds are super cozy. WiFi works great. There is a tape deck if you have any you can dust off. Lots of fire wood on the front deck. I would recommend stopping at ace for some fat wood on your way from the airport.
We had a fantastic experience at this charming house. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and our host could not have been nicer or more helpful. You will love staying here.
We had an amazing stay in Whitefish. This convenience of this cabin was so nice. We skied everyday and enjoyed the fireplace at night. We will definitely be back!
This property was as advertised. Extremely cozy and perfectly located for a family ski trip. Thank you for sharing this cabin with our family. We will surely revisit.
We had a great stay in the a frame. The house was well equipped and perfect for our family of 5. The location couldn’t have been more convenient and we enjoyed being able to walk to the chairlift as well as the market and village restaurants. The host was responsive and helpful when we encountered a minor issue during our stay. Can’t wait to return to Whitefish!

Thank you for staying, thank you for commenting. Shelley
This cozy cottage was perfect for our family of four (missing one son). We could ski/snowboard right out the front door and wind our way around the mountain starting at Chair 3. Loved the fireplace in the evenings. The Village store is open 24 hours for any essentials forgotten during the big store shopping trips in town. Would absolutely stay here again!

Perfect mountain retreat.
Great location. Ski in and out. Everything you need and nothing you don’t. Bit of a time warp in the perfect way - all about skiing. We’ll definitely be back and are already looking forward to it. Thanks Shelly. Loved your place.

Thank you, you hit it well with the snow, we look forward to your return. shelley
The 1963 Chalet was just what we needed. Great location with everything we needed. The trees surounding the back deck provided a feeling of privacy that the other newer properties would not allow. I hope that you never cut the trees. I would stay at this property again.
To us this is what a ski cabin should be. It was located in the perfect spot, it wasn't too fancy, but it wasn't boring at all, really fun decorations/mementos, really well stocked, and, as my wife says, it was really cozy. We had great spring skiing weather, so the deck was our favorite spot after skiing. Thanks for sharing! It was great.
The A frame on chair 3 was exactly what we were looking for. 7 guys for a week of spring break skiing. Close to the bierstube and village market for snacks. We utilize the snow bus twice to go get dinner & groceries. Will definitely come back.
Pros: Awesome house, comfortable beds, clean, had more than enough space for our family, had extra cooking supplies, coffee filters, spices, laundry detergent, dish soap, shampoo and conditioner, etc. location was awesome you can walk to the resort, beautiful location and lots of wildlife. Had great water pressure. Cons: steep stairs for 2nd level, it can get warm up there, but not unbearable especially with the window open. Wifi can get spotty but you are in the mountains so what do you expect. Shower is a little small. Overall it was amazing and we would definitely stay here again!!!!

Centrally located and feels like home.
The description,"Cozy traditional A-Frame" is just perfect for this house!!
We had the pleasure of calling this home for 4 wonderful weeks.
The house is located a very short walk from the village and snow bus.
However when you are looking out the large windows from the living room you are surrounded by beautiful snow laden trees.
It is a very short walk through the trees to lift 3.
The house is equiped with everything you need ,be it the comfy lounge chairs, or the amazingly well equiped kitchen.
The heating was very effective and kept the house warm and "cozy".
Would we stay again? ABSOLUTELY!!

Thank you for the wonderful review. We are so pleased you had a great experience.
This is our second year staying at this iconic A-frame located just a few feet from chair three. I just love the nostalgia of this 1960s home. Some of our favorites are number 1 the fireplace is amazing and it’s always stocked with plenty of wood to keep fires going all day long. The beds are super comfy with down comforters, and the best pillows ever. Two of the most comfortable chair recliner chairs that sit right in front of the fireplace. If we could find a way to take these with us, we would. Lol.
It’s a simple home, but yet has all the basics that you need for a relaxed stress, free retreat in the mountains.
Wonderful cabin right next to chair 3. It’s an older place as the pictures reveal but really nice. We had a wonderful stay and it was exactly what we expected. Can’t beat the location!
My fiance and I had the absolute pleasure of staying at this cabin for 5 months in 2021. From our first day checking in through our check out date, the property owner/manager was in constant communication to ensure our stay, and the property was perfect for our time there. The property itself is cozy but straight out of a story-book. It comfortably sleeps 8 with room for many more if you are willing to share space! We had family stay with us on multiple occasions and every time they would complement the cabin. Some things to note: it is about a 10 minute drive into Whitefish but there is a (very) small corner store in the ski village that sells beer/wine/snacks/coffee. Its also a <5min walk from a hiking trail that takes you up big mountain! Furthermore, if you come in the summer, the cabin now has Air Conditioning! This addition that came midstay was imperative in helping us get through the summer months comfortably. This A-frame was absolutely amazing and we can't wait to come back next!
We (Don, Debby and Shelley) are siblings. Our parents built this cabin when we were kids and we've spent many a wonderful time in this fun cabin. We all live an hour or two away but continue to share it with our kids and grandchildren.
Why they chose this property
First, because our parents had the great foresight to build it in 1963, but mostly because there would be family mutiny if we sold it! Everyone loves the cabin and has many warm memories of good and meaningful times here.
What makes this property unique
1. It's a little old-fashioned island in the middle of a good-sized ski resort and major recreation center. 2. ski in/out 3. it's simple and brings family together
