About this property

Buxton River House - Secluded Homestead with River Frontage

The Buxton River House is a wonderfully secluded 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom homestead on 17 acres with the Acheron River winding its way around the boundary and spectacular views of the Cathedral Ranges and surrounding Black Ranges State Forest.

Accessed via a 300m tree lined driveway, the property has extensive landscaped gardens, balcony views, river swimming and fishing, and many local activities including Buxton Mountain Bike Park, hiking, 10 min drive to Marysville and access to Lake Mountain.

Things to do at The River House:
• Take a stroll and simply enjoy the gardens and sounds of the abundant birdlife and the river.
• Pick some home grown produce from our small veggie patch (if in season).
• Fish for trout in the Acheron River
• Swim or laze by the Acheron River (700m river winding around the property)
• Yoga or meditation on the lawn, bridge or one of many peaceful spots along the river.
• Play table tennis or darts on the deck.
• Read on the verandah or inside on the 'cuddle couch' whilst watching the sun set on the Cathedral Range

Booking restrictions:
• Whilst the house sleeps 13 people, the following restrictions are in place regarding the number of adults and children per booking. These rules are in place to reduce the impact on the house and resources (rain water, septic tank etc) and to maximise the comfort of our guests:
- Adult only bookings - maximum 8 adults
- Family/Group Bookings - maximum 10 people. This includes a maximum of 6 adults, with the remaining guests (up to 10 people total) being children/infants (under 12 years)
• If you would like to book 13 people, please send a booking enquiry for consideration.
• During the guests stay, if there are more guests than agreed in the booking, the owner reserves the right to inspect the property and retain relevant parts of the security bond.

About the host

The River House is our escape and our sanctuary, and we are so happy to be able to share it. We often don't leave the property once we arrive as the children are 100% entertained by the sweeping lawns, making up games and exploring the veggie garden. However, we love being active and social, so will often head to Marysville

Why they chose this property

You can choose to 100% relax and not leave the property, or 100% explore and get active with the local attractions in Marysville (Gallipoli Park, skate park, cafes, old fashioned lolly shop!), Lake Mountain (summer hiking or mountain biking / winter skiing), Alexandra (great coffee, cafes and gastropubs), and Buxton (walk along meeting of the waters, play tennis, visit antique shop), or Cathedral Range State Park (spectacular hikes, or smaller walks for younger children)

What makes this property unique

Beautiful landscaped garden
Spacious 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house
Entertainers kitchen (miele, gaggenau appliances, coffee machine)
700m river frontage (swimming, dipping feet or fishing!)
360 degree views of rolling hills (State Park) on one side, to the majestic Cathedral Range on the other side
Close to Marysville for shopping, eating, walking or park play (younger children)
