A huge two-person bath on the veranda can be filled each evening with steaming-hot pure Tasmanian rainwater, while the view from the veranda is an unblemished vista of whispering she-oak and flowering tea-tree, with the constantly soothing sound of the ocean in the background, plus half a dozen curious wallabies grazing on the front lawn each evening under the clearest night sky you're likely to see anywhere in the world. There's also a wood-fired pizza oven, a romantic outdoor firepit, and a large gas BBQ for your convenience.
Inside there's an emission-free ethanol fire for additional warmth and ambiance on cold winter nights, plus a smart TV and DVD player, a library of more than 200 DVDs, over 100 books, and fast free wireless internet. The large main bedroom has a king-size bed and French doors opening onto a veranda looking out over the private nature reserve, while the second bedroom contains two comfy single beds. European-style hardwood-framed windows and doors are all triple-glazed and fully screened.
The fully equipped kitchen includes an induction glass cook top, a (small) convection/microwave oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, DeLonghi coffee machine, toaster, and stainless steel cookware. In the spacious bathroom there's a walk-in shower and stylish Tasmanian Oak vanity bench.
And it's healthy, with a constant supply of fresh air provided by the passive ventilation system, and natural materials with non-toxic finishes throughout. Most importantly, the house's unique ultra-low-energy design, combined with energy-efficient heat pumps powering a reverse-cycle air conditioner, helps it maintain a comfortable internal temperature between 20 and 26°C, no matter what the temperature outside.
