Love this rustic cottage! Its a perfect place right on the lake. Great and responsive communication with the owner and the cottage is very clean! Highly recommended!😁
Simple process.. BBQ was not working, but was able to immediately contact host . Issue was resolved with a new BBQ, But took a couple days. Nice fire pit. Good dock. A bit weedy for swimming, but great paddle boarding lake.
We rented this cabin for a girls weekend . The property was as advertised, rustic. But the water frontage , dock, location was beautiful.
The correspondence with the property owner was seem-less .
Water is not potable but the water coolers were convenient. Excellent outdoor space which was precisely what we wanted !

Old Cottage
I couldn't use The portable barbecue as it was disheveled and dirty inside. The floors were sloped. I spent a half a day or more sweeping the cobwebs with pine needles off of the picnic table, the Muskogee chairs and the chair set on the deck. I to rinse and wipe everything to get the bird poop off. Then I started in on the dock that was covered in Goose poo, duck poo and seagull poo. And I got that swept off into a garbage bag and then the rain rinsed and I swept. There was no internet. Would have been nice if some of the windows would have opened more.

Beautiful Waterfront/Sub Par Cottage
The location of the cottage was beautiful and we very much enjoyed the waterfront location. Although, the water is very weedy so not really great for kids to swim in. The canoe had no seats so was difficult to actually use. No life jackets were provided for the canoe or paddleboat. The listing advertised wifi but it didn’t actually have any. The host suggested we make personal hotspots off our own phones which we did and did work. But not as advertised. The floors of the cottage are extremely sloped and there is evidence of the roof leaking with stained and broken ceiling tiles. The bathroom was functional but definitely not luxury. Take very quick showers as you only get a couple of minutes of hot water. The kitchen had everything you needed. There was no propane in the bbq when we arrived. But the host did send us some money so we could go get it filled. The host was very responsive to us and very easy to deal with. We knew that this property was not luxury when we rented it. We really wanted the waterfront location to which it did not disappoint. But the cottage itself was a bit rougher than we were anticipating. We still enjoyed our stay but in all honesty would probably not stay again.
Let me start with the good. The property is right on the lake! we had a great time relaxing by the lake and not doing much.
Now lets start with the bad.
- Instructions to get here were abysmal. We ended up about 40kms away based on what the VRBO's map listing told us
- nails sticking out of home in various places.
- no working shower for the first day (When asked about it, the owner said "this is cabin life")
- A paddleboat was advertised in the listing. We tried it out and it sank in the lank while we were on it. I have my own kayak which I used for a rescue mission on the people and the sunken boat.
- BBQ Grill was very dirty/filled with grease buildup - took an hour to clean
- spiderwebs in every corner
- black mold in corner of the fridge
- didn’t give clear instructions regarding garbage: on the door instructions said to take with you and we had to drive to the city with large garbage bags in overpacked cars. 1 hour after we left the owner said that we could leave garbage in the cabin (packed)

Thanks for your msg, please while travelling up to To the cottage be sure to use the address to avoid getting lost. The shower pressure can surge as this waterfront cottage has electric jet pump to supply water like most on the water. Thanks for the feedback regarding the cleanliness, we have addressed the property manager and the checklist items that were missed in the cleaning process!

Nice cottage, gorgeous location
Nice small cottage with gorgeous location - perfect for sitting on the dock and campfires.
Nice quiet property, large grassy area, large shaded area. Easy access to Lakefield. Cottage is old, but in good repair. It is dark inside, with little outside light getting in. Makes for a cool cottage on the hottest days, but difficult to do anything in the cottage. Biggest negative is the lack of place to swim as shore is quite reedy.

It was ok
We enjoyed our stay overall. The weather wasn’t great. The scenery and dock area are great. Nice quiet location and my dog absolutely loved the place. Was able to wonder leash free and dive into the water whenever he wanted lol. Now for the bad 😕. Wasn’t the cleanest place. The shower was nasty…used it once over the course of 3 nights (yuck). Lots of dust bunnies and the ceiling fan was furry lol. If I’m charged $125 for cleaning, should be clean. The house is super old, but it’s a cottage. Swimming is not good at all…seaweed has overwhelmed the area. Overall was a decent stay.
Lovely property and landscape. The cottage was exactly that - a cottage! Quaint and cozy, but with (almost) everything you need. FYI - BYO-coffee maker!
The docks and fire pit were spacious and well cared for. Would recommend!
Had a hard time finding the spot, adam(owner) was very easy to get a hold of, and pointed us in the right direction! Beautiful area with nice neighbours, the place was clean and comfortable. Had an amazing weekend there!
