Sweet Cabin on Special New River Property
On this amazing property, the owner built the cabin himself, from materials found on the land – trees for lumber and rocks for stone walls. The cabin is small, but the property is spectacular, with 1000 feet of private riverfront, as well as its own gurgling creek. In the evenings, gather everyone around the fire pit, roast some marshmallows and gaze at the dome of diamond stars in the clear mountain sky above.
This part of the New River is peaceful, shallow and well-stocked with trout. The sprawling, 5-acre, level lot invites you to play, picnic, fish, or step into the water and float. It's the perfect launch spot for your tubing or swimming adventure. Nearby outfitters can set you up with everything you need.
This is the perfect place to bring the kids, with plenty of safe space for running, playing or swimming. There's even a playhouse. They'll be fascinated to see the handmade water wheel, which originally supplied electricity for the cabin! Now it is a basically a museum piece for the property, so please use caution when admiring it. The owner's workshop is also nearby and you may see him coming and going from time to time.
The cabin interior is quaint and comfy, with the ambiance of a time gone by. The living room has a TV and the well-equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher and a dining table for 6. The master bedroom is conveniently located on this main level with a brand new King Bed, with a private en-suite bathroom offering a tub/shower combination. There is an additional half bath on this level, with a washer and dryer.
Upstairs you'll find two additional bedrooms, one with a queen bed and a full, and the other with a full. The shared bathroom upstairs offers a walk-in shower.
The covered front porch provides additional living and chilling space, and even has a porch swing. Grab a beverage or a book and take it easy, watching the river flow and listening to the soothing sounds of the creek.
Step back to the simpler days and enjoy nature at Spout Branch cabin.

We really enjoyed this little tresure beautiful home, very clean and the outside was beautiful we enjoyed fishing and just relaxing in the back yard would recommend this property to everyone
Cabin well planned, clean. Had kitchen essentials, comfortable beds, good TV reception, Verizon cell spotty. We so enjoyed our stay and will be back. Gave it a 4 because it doesn’t have a propane grille z

Thank you for the review! Yes, cell service is spotty in the area and we recommend connecting to the wifi so you can make calls with wifi calling. There is no propane grill, but there is a park style charcoal grill at this property.
The cabin on the river was perfect and quiet. Although this is a smaller home, we had 6 adults and never felt like we needed more space. The house was stocked and check in and check out was seamless. Absolutely recommend!
The property was the most beautiful I’ve ever stayed. I had the pleasure of meeting the homeowner on my last day and he graciously showed me around the property. I thoroughly enjoyed the special tour! If I could suggest anything, it would be to add some corn hole boards for the outside and some inside board games. Otherwise, the place is Heavenly!
The owner has been extremely meticulous while maintaining this property. Too many details to list but so clean. Everything looked brand new and tight. The exterior and landscaping was like every stoned was placed with purpose. Look for the heartstones.
We enjoyed the quietness and the water rushing over the rocks on the New River. Enjoyed the turning of the leaves. My husband Jerry enjoyed talking and learning about the water wheel and electricity it can produce. James also showed us the many springs on the property. Great place for children to play on the swing set and we enjoyed sitting on the swing and watching the river.. We saw deers, chipmunks and squirrels playing each day. A very quiet place to rest and unwind.
A very special thanks to the owner for taking the time to show us the cabin, water wheel and other things he made from the material on the land. Jerry couldn’t wait until he stopped by the next day to talk with him again.
Clean, comfortable, simple cabin in a deluxe setting with Spout Branch in the side yard and the New River in the front yard. Easy to get to and though highway noise can be heard, the water flowing over the rocks drowns out most of it.
This is the most Magical Property we have ever stayed at. The property is beautiful, the cabin is perfect. Every place you look , you find something new. Flowers made of nuts and bolts and nestled in vases of tree bark. There is fish carved into rock, and walkways of stone with rocks shaped like hearts.. You can see the Love and detail that went into building this little Paradise. We are so lucky that the owner wanted to share his treasure. We will go again.
This was the perfect weekend get away for my family though I wish we could have stayed longer! Great place for my children, ages 9 and 12, to explore and play. Definitely plan on returning.
Nice Cabin with a beautiful view of the river. Great for a weekend get-away! Property Managers were very responsive and helpful. Quiet area, Great Location - Short drive to W Jefferson and Lansing.
The property we rented was great. The beautiful scenery made relaxing so easy. Loved sitting by the water and soaking in the sun while my husband did a little fishing.
The pictures don’t do this property justice. We loved every minute of our stay over the Easter weekend. Fishing and just relaxing. I can’t wait to go again!
The property was very clean top to bottom. It wasn't lavish by any stretch, but had all we needed. Until we went to bed. All three of the beds are in desperate need of replacing. One upstairs bead was so squeaking it couldn't be slept in. It's unfortunate, because the location, the property and the creek, everything was wonderful. But we literally cut our trip short and went home because we knew we wouldn't be able to sleep with the beds in the shape they were in. Downstairs mattress is worn out. One upstairs is hard as a brick and sitting on a VERY old box spring. The other one has already been addressed. I would love to rate this higher because so much was good, but not being able to sleep is too critical to overlook.
