D and D Oceanfront Retreat

Enjoy the beauty of Rockaway Beach from a front-row seat in this versatile oceanfront home designed to bring your guests together at the beach. The upstairs king suite has a panoramic view of the sea through large windows and from a deck across the western side of the home. Two more bedrooms mean you can invite extra friends to join you for your coastal stay. On the main level, a sweeping great room gives you plenty of seating and stellar ocean views. The dining table is supplemented by a breakfast bar in the spacious, fully equipped kitchen. The kids will claim the game room in the garage as their own private pad.

When it’s time to hit the beach, a trail off the lower-level covered deck takes you right down to the sand. You can walk for miles on level beach, reminding you why Rockaway has been a favored destination of vacationers for over a century. The shops, grocery, pub and restaurants of downtown Rockaway are an easy walk from the home, and you can also rent watercraft for cruising, fishing and crabbing the Nehalem River. Drive south to Tillamook’s Creamery for delicious local ice cream, or head north to the exciting towns and beaches of Manzanita, Cannon Beach or Seaside. There’s a lot to see on the North Oregon Coast, and D & D Oceanfront Retreat is a comfortable, roomy launchpad for all your adventures.

All cleaning policies meet or exceed CDC standards and recommendations. Our team wears new masks, gloves and shoes covers each time they enter home to prepare it for a new stay. We clean and disinfect all hard surfaces and high-touch items such as appliance handles, light switches, door knobs, remote controls, etc. We also clean and disinfect all dishes/glassware, silverware, bedding, towels and other linens as well as tubs and toilets. Meredith Lodging has added the extra measure of a pre-check-in inspection to make sure all of our cleaning and disinfecting procedures are complete and to our standard before you arrive.

Once it passes inspection, your home sits empty until you arrive for your contact-free check-in. Additionally, if your home features a private hot tub, rest assured it is disinfected, treated and cleaned thoroughly after each departure so that you and your guests can enjoy it with peace of mind during your stay.

As many reviews state, the location, view and beach access can't be beat! Lots of fun shops and restaurants nearby and easy access to other towns to the north and south. Family room furniture is newer than the photos and lots of seating to enjoy the beautiful view. There isn't a lot of closet or dresser space in the larger bedrooms so we all pretty much lived out of our suitcases. While one bedroom is on the view side, the primary bedroom is the one on the opposite side... ensuite bathroom that's a bit larger. Just a note that the bathrooms aren't ADA equipped if that's a need. Great property for a family stay!

Access to the beach was amazing. Convenient location for going into town. The cleaning service the management company uses did a very poor job. (Wet towels left in dryer, food left on the floors, beds without sheets, one partial roll of toilet paper left to share between 3 bathrooms, sheets looked and felt unwashed, hairballs left in bedding)

Beautiful beachfront location

We had a lovely stay. The property is right on the beach. The master bedroom has a great view of the ocean. The property is right of the main Rockaway strip, so walking distance to restaurants and convenience stores.

Spring Break!

This house has the perfect location and set up. The kids had a blast playing on the beach and going in the ocean. We saw whales right out in front of the house - it was so cool! We were walking distance to town which was awesome. We had a wonderful time!!

Great location and amazing oceanfront views! New mattresses on all beds and newly furnished livingroom were much appreciated. There were 5 of us and everyone was comfortable and the place was prestine. 30 minutes to Tillamook, Cannon and Manzanita. Could use seating on the upper deck and remove the old rusted out fire pit. Would stay again!

Perfect for family getaway

This is a comfortable home with large windows to really enjoy the beach view. It was a convenient home for large family, our stay was comfortable. Everyone had enough room. Three full bathrooms and nice beds/bedrooms. We really enjoy quiet Rockaway and played in the sand and waves the whole stay. All appliances worked etc. We appreciate that the home is pet free for sensitive allergies with a couple of family members. If circumstances allow, we will stay here again.

Can't beat the location!

Our family of 6 adults and 2 children (1 and 3) stayed for 4 nights in August. The location of the home was absolutely perfect; you can watch the sunset on the back porch or walk a few steps (down a small path with a few rocks) to the beach.The house itself was very comfortable with plenty of beds, pillows, blankets, beach towels, etc.There are 3 full bathrooms all with tubs. Main bedroom has access to a big deck with chairs and firepit.We slept with the door open and could hear the waves all night long.Kitchen was well stocked with a BBQ on the deck. Washer & Dryer made it easy to do a load of laundry.The town itself is small and you can walk everywhere from the house. We really enjoyed the comfort, convenience and LOCATION of this house.

Loved the location of the home, the view was over the top beautiful. The kitchen was stocked with everything a person would need. What shadowed those wonderful things about the home., one of the toilets leaked, when it rained, water ran from the upstairs through the ceiling, down the window, onto the window sill and onto the floor, we were locked out of the home because the key pad did not work. We were given another code which worked part time so we had to leave the home open when we went for walks on the beach (that felt bad). And finally, I don’t know anyone that would have used the BBQ, it was disgustingly dirty. Would I stay there again, yes but would come better prepared next time.

Stayed here with family to celebrate a milestone birthday for our mother. Fantastic location. Right. On. The. Beach. Very close to all the shops that Rockaway has to offer. There was no propane in either the upstairs ‘fire pit’ or the grill. Luckily we brought our own. When walking up the stairs you could see that the space under the beds hadn’t been cleaned in a while. The first floor carpet was amazingly sand free. The kitchen was very well stocked. Had no issues cooking up some meals for the whole family. Wish there were better lighting options in the ‘game room’ overall, this rental didn’t disappoint and was exactly what we needed.

Lovely beach house and location for our mixed-aged family

This was a lovely little house right on the beach, as promised. We stayed as a small extended family with ages ranging from 2 to 86 and the home was mostly accommodating to all. The beach access trail right outside if unfortunately not accessible for older adults, as you have to climb down steep and uneven rocks, but that is not something that can be amended, so just an FYI for anyone hoping to get older adults down to the beach. Luckily there is a wonderful view from both of the home's decks. If I had any critique, it would for the property management company to invest a little more resource in a cleaning crew (versus one singular person) so that check-in can start at 4 p.m. instead of 5 p.m. It feels like you're being short-changed the first day of your stay (and you are). Other than that, we were very happy with this little rental.

It would have been 4 or 5 stars except for 1 thing. First off the property and house is great you cant beat the location and inside all the rooms were perfect for the family. We had 6 Adults and our 3 grandchildren ages 7 weeks, 8 and 22 months it worked out perfect for all of us. The issue we had was with the check in. The morning of we got a text saying that due to a emergency check in time was not until 5:30 ( normal is 4:00 ) . We totally were fine with that as we understood so we planed on not leaving the Portland zoo until later. We arrived after 5:30 and they were still cleaning and did not finish until 6:30. They also mwithout going into details missed a few cleaningitems. Most people can understand traveling with 3 little ones that are tired hungry that .45 minutes killing time was not fun. I did text the management company back and did get back response. The response was "We are so sorry, thanks for letting us know. Please let us know if we can help with anything during your stay! ". The next text was the day of departure on reminding us of check out time. Maybe a good customer service response would have been a later check out of equal time for our trouble. Again the property was a 5 star experience if not the latter.

Beautiful setting for a family gathering!

The view from the living room and the two decks was unparalleled! We could sit in the living room and watch the ocean, or sit on the deck and enjoy the ocean without having to walk down to the beach, which was really important since our group included several elderly women. The house was comfortable, but could use some updating and there were a few maintenance issues which were addressed the third day we were there. Things we wish we had known: 1. To access the beach you have to walk over some large rocks. The over-70 group could not do it. 2. All the beds were extremely comfortable! 3. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances that reminded me of my childhood in the 70s! Don’t expect food Staples to be there (there wss no sugar, for example). 4. There is a Dollar General where you can pick up lots of stuff very close by (less than a mile). 5. They have beach towels and throw blankets, so no need to bring those. Overall, we really enjoyed the place and our experience there! You couldn’t ask for a better view of the ocean!!
