About this property
Sunset views, Quiet Setting, Gardens, and Resort-like Pool and Spa.
Available for 30 days or longer this unique 70-year-old-world retreat is located on one of the highest streets in the Covenant of Rancho Santa Fe offering stunning panoramic sunset views of the valley and hills beyond. A short drive to and from the Del Mar Races and the Pacific Ocean.
The gracious main living area that is being offered consists of 2 bedrooms, formal LR & DR, FR, and lanai plus window walls throughout that showcase gorgeous panoramas. Enjoy succulent gardens, & sequestered benches for reading/meditating. BBQ under the stars w/ alfresco dining on the terrace. The "Spanish Villa" is the main house that is on a 3.25-acre property. If you need a third bedroom, ask about the separate guest suite, "La Casita".
This single-level old-world Spanish-style vacation home is well-appointed and located on a quiet street in the picturesque hills of historic Rancho Santa Fe. You will be surrounded by gated ranches, groves, views all around, and other multi-million dollar Spanish and Mediterranean estates. On the lower part of the property is a dramatic disappearing edge swimming pool with expansive views, and a spa (hot tub) to bask in the San Diego sun.
ROOM DESCRIPTIONS:
The master bedroom offers a California King bed with cool cotton sheets and down pillows for a great night's sleep. This bedroom looks out to the colorful succulent garden and you will wake up to a mix of different plants and textures highlighted by the rising morning sun. The master bathroom offers plenty of space for getting ready in the morning, a dual-head shower, double sinks, and is accented with natural stone.
The second bedroom has a writing desk w/ chair, a bureau, offers plenty of light, and a large window with amazing expansive views of the valley and beyond. The bathroom has a granite-lined shower and doubles as a powder room.
There is a comfortable den that is perfect for watching TV and relaxing at the end of the day fireside. The sunroom is filled with morning light, surrounded by windows, garden views, and is perfect for yoga or as an office space. The formal living room has plenty of space for relaxing, reading a book, or just enjoying the expansive views. The formal dining room includes a rustic old-world table with breathtaking views of the valley and the swimming pool area. From this room, you can also see one of the few sculptures by artist Bruno Romeda that was featured in Architectural Digest last century.
The resort-style disappearing edge swimming pool has plenty of seating, lounge chairs, and a table for dining al-fresco. The hot tub is available for use during pool hours. The pool is not heated. The pool is limited to use between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. The pool is accessed via sloping stairways. Occasionally the pool is shared with others.
This home is ideal for those looking for understated luxury in a historic community setting filled with towering eucalyptus trees. Keep in mind that this is an older home so expect quirks that come with classic structures of the past.
Only minutes to Rancho Santa Fe, Del Mar, Solana Beach, and Encinitas. A short drive to most beaches, La Jolla, Torrey Pines, San Diego, Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo, Coronado, and Seaworld.
There are several great restaurants in town and grocery shopping is available in Del Mar, Solana Beach, and Encinitas. This is a quiet neighborhood perfect for relaxation and a peaceful stay.
NOTE: There is an Ultralux Water Machine installed in the kitchen for simply cleaner, purer, and superior drinking water. The machine uses robust reverse osmosis, UVC filtration technology while adding health-stimulating, antioxidant-rich hydrogen.
All areas of the house have been cleaned following health authority cleaning guidelines. All high-touch surfaces have been sanitized with disinfectant. Hand sanitizer and soap are available throughout. Safety features such as smoke alarms, and carbon monoxide detectors are installed, and a fire extinguisher is available.
This is the perfect place for a "RESET".

About the host
Hosted by Holly Ellen

I am a native of San Diego. I grew up on the street where I live now enjoying all of the outdoor activities and sports that Southern California offers, like tennis, hiking, biking, horseback riding, volleyball, golfing, skiing, sailing, windsurfing, and camping to name a few. I now spend my time selling residential real estate, traveling, and gardening. I am a lifelong real estate broker in Rancho Santa Fe. I love sharing all my lifetime knowledge of the area including special eateries, local happenings, great hiking trails, and other special amenities with my friends, guests, and family.
Why they chose this property
I have lived on this street all of my life enjoying its stunning views, sunrise and sunsets, orange blossoms, eucalyptus trees, and colorful flowering plants all year round. My property is over three acres and is large enough to share with others. I have traveled all around the world. The places I treasure most are the ones where I stayed in local's homes and got to know them and the local customs. Staying in a home is much more meaningful than staying in a huge hotel with no personal touches. As a way to give back to my lifetime of fabulous travel, I have opened my house.

GOLF AT RANCHO SANTA FE GOLF CLUB
Arrangements may be made for guests to play Rancho Santa Fe Golf Course. The 6,700-yard, par-72 course was designed by golf course architect Max Behr and opened in 1929. Behr favored following the natural contours of the topography, showcasing the beauty of the countryside terrain in his design. Luminary Bing Crosby was a regular on these fairways and his famed pro-am “clambake” annual event was held from 1937-1942.
Renovated in 2021, the verdant course in the heart of Rancho Santa Fe continues to be a community favorite with its tree-lined fairways, charming stone bridges over water features, and challenging undulating greens.
Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club is located at
5827 Via De La Cumbre, Rancho Santa Fe
Green fees are $170
Cart fees are $17
The course is open Tuesday - Sunday
Guests may schedule afternoon play.
