About this property
Private Home Steps from Southampton Beach | Pool | Gardens | Family Friendly
This stately century home is the perfect place to stay while enjoying beautiful Southampton during season. Nestled on a private lot with a backyard pool and lush gardens, the residence is resplendent with both historic and modern elements. Design features such original hardwood floors, stained glass windows, and door transoms combined with picturesque outdoor living space make this lovely 4-bedroom, 1.5-bath home that comfortably accommodates up to 8 ideal for a vacation to Ontario’s Hamptons.
Though historical in design and age, the residence is outfitted with every modern amenity today’s travelers are looking for. High speed internet, a full house mesh network, and a well-lit workstation equipped with ergo chair, monitor, keyboard, mouse & mouse pad, and laptop stand make virtual commuting a breeze. Once the office work is done, relax in the sitting room and stream a favorite show on the 65" HD TV loaded with Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and Netflix, play a board game from the game cabinet, or curl up in one of the cozy nooks with a book or comic from the lending library.
A high-ceilinged, eat in kitchen is fully stocked with utensils, dishes, cookware, and bakeware for delicious home cooking options. Standard small appliances such as a coffee maker and toaster are also provided to start each day off with a smile. The adjacent formal dining room provides a stately space for hosting full course meals along with some great conversation. Head up the stunning curved staircase - ideal for family photos - to the workspace area, 4 cozy bedrooms, and a full bath. The bedrooms are set up in a 3-queen 1-full bed configuration, and the bright, airy bathroom has a tub/shower combo perfect for a quick rinse after the pool or beach, or relaxing baths at the end of a long day of sightseeing.
Step outside where the vacation continues in the backyard. A very private pool surrounded by exquisite strolling gardens is the centerpiece of this amazing outdoor living area that also offers a propane grill, seating areas for gathering and dining alfresco, and lounge chairs for cat napping. Wind down at the end of every fun-filled day under the gazebo with evening drinks while relaxing around the smokeless fire pit.
The area:
Located just 2 minutes from beautiful Southampton Beach and steps from High Street shopping and restaurants, the property is right in the heart of everything Southampton has to offer.
• Experience the best of the outdoors by spending the day at the beach soaking up the sun, kayaking or canoeing on Lake Huron, fishing the Saugeen River, exploring the countryside on one of the many walking trails, or playing a round of golf at one of the areas golf courses.
• Visit nearby Sauble Falls and have lunch at the picnic site that includes a children’s adventure playground. During the spring and fall spawning runs for Rainbow Trout and Chinook salmon, watch the fish struggle over each ledge of the cascading waterfall to spawn upstream. The historic falls are also the end of the Rankin River canoe route - ideal for novice canoeists.
• For a bit of culture, take in an art class at the Southampton Art School and Gallery or learn about rich local history at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Center.
• Shop the Southampton Market which blends the quaint atmosphere of a general store with the size and merchandise selection of today’s factory outlets. Two floors, comprising over 140,000 sq. ft., are filled with almost everything imaginable for the home, and the Market features one of the largest inventories of solid oak, ash, maple, and pine Mennonite Furniture in Ontario.
Other things to note:
Guests may park up to 3 cars in the driveway. There is also an EV charger conveniently located on High Street in front of the Public Library just a 30 second walk from the property.
Gas, groceries, supplies, and restaurants can be found a quick 5 minutes away in Port Elgin.
For added safety during COVID times we kindly ask that all guests bring their own towels and linens.
