The Neighborhood:

TREASURE ISLAND:

The 979 Crew just loves this seaside and bayside community flanked by Galveston Island on one end and Surfside Beach on the other. On your drive, stop by the grocery store for your favorite grillables and beverages, make a pit stop at the bait shop to fill your bait bucket (great fishing in TI), and/or place a call to make arrangements to rent a golf cart - this is a very golf cart friendly spot. Enjoy the Gulfside's uncrowded pedestrian beach (no cars allowed for 300 yards but golf carts welcomed) where you can setup your group's camp for the day on the beach to build sandcastles, jump in the surf, find unique shells and sand dollars, boogie board, shore & surf fish and build an evening bonfire. Or if preferred, utilize the available launch for your boat or kayak or head to the fishing pier on the bayside. Some much to do so little time!

Getting Around:

SAN LUIS PASS:

San Luis Pass and Treasure Island have been known all over the United States for being a saltwater fishing hotspot and the most amazing sunrises & sunsets! It is 15 minutes from Surfside and across the bridge from Galveston's west end and only about 25-30 minutes to the heart of Galveston Island's activities. Most people come to the area to spend quality 'non-commercialized" time with family, extended family, and friends!

Other Things to Note:

HOSTED BY THE 979 CREW ADVANTAGE:

The 979 Crew is comprised of island locals who are passionate about making sure the home you chose is nothing short of clean, comfortable, and ready for your group's fun! Every home is fully and professionally cleaned after each guest stay. In addition, all of our homes feature luxury hotel-quality/high thread count on all sheets, bedding, and bath towels which are replaced upon every turnover including the duvet covers and shams (we've heard not every company does this, and we think that's just gross). We take clean seriously! When you rent a 979 home, you'll also receive the 'comforts of home' guest welcome starter supply of shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, tp and paper towels, dishwasher and clothes washer pods. We want your stay to be as easy as you do, and the 979 Crew aims to deliver on that commitment. We love our island guests!

🐾 PUP-FRIENDLY:

Bring Fido(s)! We welcome your furry friends (aka family members). Up to 2 well-behaved dogs are allowed at this home, subject to approval and a non-refundable pet fee of $100 per dog per stay.

WIFI/TV SERVICE:

Our properties include WIFI/Internet and TV service for your streaming services. Due to our location (Island living is a whole other way of life), service may be unpredictable or spotty, and repair times can be delayed. While we will do everything we can to ensure these items are in good working order before your arrival, please note, these services may not be as consistent as they are in your area. So grab your favorite people, ditch the electronics, and spend the day at our beautiful beaches!

The house was in disrepair the stairs were actually dangerous and coming apart. The bathroom was really bad the shower handle was so corroded it took all my strength to turn on the shower. The coffee pot didn’t work we had to go to Walmart for basic support should have been there. If done maintenance and cleaning was done it wouldn’t be a bad place for a short stay. I would not recommend this for a rental

Thank you for sharing your feedback albeit a bit late. We take our guests' concerns seriously which is why, had heard from you during your stay, we could have addressed anything immediately. After seeing your comments, our team promptly re-inspected the home. The staircase, while squeaky, is secure. In coastal homes, especially in high-humidity environments like ours, natural wood can expand and contract, which may cause some squeaking. The shower valve is brand new and fully functional. It does require a slightly firm turn, which is typical as new valves get worked in, but it is not corroded and operates as intended. We understand that feel can vary from person to person. Regarding the provided Keurig coffee maker, we did test that as well, and it works as intended. We noticed there was an extra small drip coffee maker there that isn't operational, and we have removed it. However, it was not the one provided by this home's owner. (?) The home is professionally cleaned before every arrival. While it is not a brand-new build, it is well maintained and cared for. Coastal properties live in salt air and humidity year-round, which can create normal wear over time, but we do our best to be diligent about upkeep. We always encourage guests to reach out during their stay, so we can resolve concerns quickly and ensure a comfortable experience.

Very beautiful and relaxing stay

When we arrived we were greeted with amazing views of the ocean all around. It's located with two private beach accesses for the neighborhood. Everything was very clean and we had everything we needed to have a great and relaxing stay. The cottage was equipped with luxurious towels and linens. Everything was great and we look forward to staying in the future.

Property manager was prompt

I hesitated to review this property, but got several email request. We originally checked in and loved it, but quickly found dead bugs, which was troublesome, but better dead than alive. I was concerned that the bed in the master didn't have a mattress cover, so I requested one. I got up in the middle of the night and found live oriental cockroaches and ants along the corners of the room. Lots of dead bugs. I just couldn't stomach it and requested they move us properties, which they did. I understand that it happens when you're that close to the ocean, but it was a little overwhelming. I'm also constantly worried about bugs when traveling, so take that into account. The property they moved us to was great. We didn't have enough beds at that one, but we made it work. We appreciate the move.

Thank you for allowing us to host you! As for the buggers, all of our homes are on regular pest control as needed in our accommodating coastal location. That said, with the prior new construction going on next door, we suspect this may have created some extra action, arg. Regardless, it has been fully bombed at this point. Glad we could accommodate your move to another great home in the neighborhood and you enjoyed it! As for not enough beds, we are a bit confused, as we gave you 3 homes to choose from (all very nice) and the one you chose was the smallest? Thanks again for staying with us!

Disappointing

Property is well located and overall clean. Beds are comfortable. Kitchen is very much under equipped. You cannot prep and cook much so be prepared. No kitchen knives, whisk, scoop, ect, but only a couple of spatulas are made available and a couple (3?) of individual steak knives - not suitable to prep anything. That made any type of cooking really challenging. Toaster was not working. Mostly plasticware with a couple of non-plastic glasses. Barely any cookware, pans are well over their prime time and I was wary of using them. That was disappointing as one rents a house for several days with the expectation that you can cook , which was made very challenging. No broom available, so good luck swiping the floors while staying 5 days with children and sand/crumbs/roaches on the floor. Also house lists few small appliances that are either missing or not working. There is also no table in the downstairs patio area, so you cannot eat outside and enjoy the weather. Laundry room and bathroom access are unpractical - in between 2 bedrooms so constant transit through the bedrooms. The laundry room is cluttered with cleaning equipment which makes it difficult to use and navigate. Probably okay for a single family though. Construction going on across the street made for a loud stay. There is a constant transit of huge trucks bringing equipment in and out. A few easy enhancements would make this property great - but I’m it’s current state, I would not rent again.

Thank you for allowing us to host you and appreciate you noting the home's cleanliness, comfortability and location; however, we are sorry to hear you were disappointed. We haven't had any guests mention the kitchen lacking cooking utensils, but we will definitely do a full inventory and pass along your feedback to this home's owner. As for the floor plan, we haven't anymore mention a concern with that before either, nor is it something likely to change. Yes, there is construction about everywhere now in any neighborhood down the coast. We hope things finish up too! Thanks again for staying with us and sharing your feedback.

Peaceful Retreat

Our stay was on February 18th, definitely the off season. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. It was cold and windy, so we enjoyed time inside in the bright cheery atmosphere. There is a wonderful public beach at the end of the neighborhood and the public entrance is some distance away, so it creates the illusion of private beach. We walked the beach when the weather improved our second day and it was blissful. The home was well appointed and the decor was great!
