This beautiful mountain home offers 6 comfortable and private bedrooms in Northface's "let's go skiing" neighborhood. It is a short walk to Timberline Mountain's Salamander Trail. You won't move the car all weekend because it is all right here. Family Tradition offers a fully equipped kitchen and a sizable dining room for friends and family to gather. Lots of windows and a generous deck provide scenic views in every season. It doesn't have to be winter to enjoy this well though out rental home. It is a short drive to Canaan Resort, Blackwater Falls and the treasured mountain towns Davis and Thomas. Shop the shops, visit the breweries, maybe grab a pizza and then head back to Family Tradition for a game of pool or a relaxing soak in the outdoor hot tub. In every season, Family Tradition is the perfect spot for family and friends to gather. Winter visits will require 4-wheel drive vehicles with very good winter tires.

Wonderful Getaway!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! There was plenty of room for everyone, and the house is actually much nicer than it appears in the photos. It was so nice being right next to the slopes, the weather was perfect, and the hot tub was amazing. Everyone had a great time. The check-in and check-out process was very easy too.

Nice large house close to ski slopes

Very nice, large house with plenty of room to spread out. Very close to ski slopes. Bring your own blankets and hangers, if desired, as there were only a few. Internet speed was only good for some slow emails - which was great for the adults who wanted to disconnnect, but disappointing to the younger folks. Overall, fantastic property, and we would definitely stay there again.

Perfect for Large Group

This house perfectly accommodated our large party (three families) for an extended-family trip to WV. The surrounding countryside is stunning, with multiple gorgeous natural parks to visit. Even without air conditioning, we were perfectly comfortable with windows open and a few fans running in July. The house itself was spacious and lovely, with only some irregularity in the internet service to complain of (multiple people in our party had Zoom meetings over the course of the week). It was one of the loveliest and most relaxing vacation stays in some of the most beautiful country I've experienced.

Great spot - ski in/ski out

We had a group of 12 - teens and adults. Essentially ski in/ski out. I couldn’t quite tell from the photos, but it was really easy to come and go. House location is also walking distance to lodge, so it was easy for non-skiers to walk down for apres ski. Great spaces for everyone to be together - family room, huge kitchen table - and also nooks for smaller groups. Teens had the basement (pool table, hot tub access, bedrooms) and noise didn’t travel. Owners have made some updates based on prior reviews (new furniture in loft)

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our party of 12 had a great stay at Family Tradition. Location is across the street from the Salamander green slope. You do have to walk between houses and climb up the side of the slope to get on it. House has several living spaces which is nice for a larger group. An upgrade to smart TVs would be nice so guests could use streaming services. Also one key for a house that sleeps 12 is unreasonable - there should be a door code for guest use. Overall a great stay.

Reviewer Comments: The vacation place was beautiful but did have a few issues. some of the window crank handles were broken, some of the window blinds were broken, the living room coffee table had broken legs and were at a point that if the table had been bumped into it would have fallen over, the clothes dryer would not heat up to dry clothes, there was a broken chair that was from the dining room table, the screen door for the sliding door in the dining room was broken and would not close, the microwave oven had to be exchanged out because it was broken. (All of these things were reported to the maintanance dept and the man who came to fix some of the issues was great! Beyond these problems, the place overall was very nice and I would still visit this place again. Canann Valley is a beautiful place and is well worth seeing and the rental property was so well cleaned that I left a nice tip for the person who was responsible for the cleaning.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family had a great vacation at Timberline in Canaan Valley, WV. Great place to hike, bike and fish! We stayed at Family Tradition in Timberline. It's a great location and a well built home. Plenty of room with 6 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. The kitchen is easy to navigate and there is a large dining room table that can easily seat 12+ people. However, there are several issues that would need to be addressed for us to stay at Family Tradition again. 1. Several window screens need to be replaced to maximize airflow (No AC)2. House has beautiful wooden windows with crank handle openers. Several windows will not open and need to be repaired to maximize air flow.3. Window blinds need to go!4. Needs a deep clean throughout the house5. Dehumidifier hose in the basement was draining onto the bathroom floor. We redirected it to the bathtub. Need a more permanent solution.6. Basement carpet needs to be replaced.7. The left sliding glass door in family room will not lock. Also the sliding screen door needs replaced to maximize air flow. 8. Screen door off the dining room does not slide and needs to be replaced to maximize air flow.9. Master bath jacuzzi tub leaks and needs to be repaired. 10. Red furniture in loft needs to be replaced. Looks great in the pictures but the furniture is falling apart. Its an easy fix.

Northface Get Away

Nice property. Kitchen is lacking some basics (e.g. wooden spoons) and a blender would have been nice. Unfortunately for us, we didn’t realize the home does not have a/c and we had some uncharacteristically hot weather resulting in 80+ degree temps in the upstairs bedrooms. Not the fault of the home, but something to keep in mind when booking.

Great place to spend with fam

It’s pretty much ski on/ski off. You just walk across the street to your front door. If it’s snowy icy- you’ll def need a 4x drive. Worth it. Pool table was fun. Clean. Plenty of hot water. Highly recommend.
