Private tidy cottage in a peaceful, rural setting on 3 acres-with a boundary stream. Cottage is away from main house. Covered patio with bbq and outdoor furniture-looking over rural views. Kitchen has all utensils, pots, pans, microwave, cooktop, Breville oven, mini fridge/freezer, separate bedroom, bathroom, foyer entrance to sit and read or store bikes-Longe/living area with TV and CD player. hobby grapevines with Amy Winehouse available for guests to use. Owharoa waterfall, river and tramping within minutes including the amazing Dickies Flat walk down to Karangahake . Restaurant ( Falls Retreat),Waikino Pub and Waikino Railway Cafe within 2km. We are happy for guests to bring their dog-but must be on a lead when walking the property. Free breakfast-our farm eggs, bread, juice ,and other choices. Coffee/Tea provided. Wifi available but poor cell phone reception unless you have Wifi Calling on your phone but available 200 metres down the road.We do have 2 electric bikes for hiring…that can be organised on arrival.Auckland Airport125 kms, Waihi 10 minutes, Waihi Beach 20 minutes, Hauraki Rail trail< 5 minutes, Karangahake windows walk, 5kms, Access to Kaimai-Mamakau National park 4 kms, Tauranga 60 km, Whangamata Beach 40kms. There are also Restaurants and Cafes in both Paeroa and Waihi as well Waihi Beach.

Lynley was an amazing host and we had a lovely stay at the cozy Woodpigeon Cottage. The dogs loved running around the property and there are fantastic dog friendly walks and cafes in the area. It was a very relaxing weekend away from the city. Thank you!

Wood Pigeon Cottage was a delightful experience. The hosts were extremely accommodating and made us feel very welcome to enjoy the entire property. Pigeon Cottage

Lovely peaceful and restful location. My little dog felt very at home and made new friends I chose the cottage because well priced, fabulous location close to walks, waterfalls the river and beaches. The cottage is cosy and well equipped with all you need. Linley and Dan are welcoming hosts, very accomodating and friendly. Enjoyed my stay and went home refreshed

Explore karangahake

Wood pigeon cottage is in an ideal location for exploring the area. There's a ton of adventures close by. The host is very communicative and the whole process of checking in was easy. The place could do with a bit of a clean around the edges but was comfortable, peaceful and sunny. Just note there's no door between the bedroom and living area if you're taking kids. Thanks for the lovely stay!

I loved this place, Communication can be a problem as there is very little cell phone signal, but then that is exactly what I was looking for. Pets were welcome. We have a minor medical problem and the host was on hand to help based on her years of experience. Will defiantly be going back there sometime.

Idyllic spot

Idyllic outlook and generous hosts, we had a lovely stay. Thank you for all the extra touches that made it feel special. The eggs were delicious! Clean, tidy and pretty place with everything you need and more. Great location close to gorge walks and less than 20mins to waihi beach.

Perfect - and dog friendly

A beautiful, tranquil spot, close to lots of walks and bike rides. Lynley and Dan were great hosts - and our dog got to have crazy run arounds with Mia and Gigi.

Our trip to Wood Pigeon Cottage

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful tranquil haven. Everything was perfect and just what we needed to relax and recharge. We also enjoyed the local area, the lovely walks and the friendly pub nearby. There are many interesting places to explore nearby so lots are on offer for a great place for a getaway! Home away from home

Although wet had a wonderful relaxing stay. Real down time in somewhere that felt like a home away from home. Lynley and Dan are great hosts and gave recommendations on where to go and where I could take my dog. Will definitely stay again as still have some walks to do. The breakfast goodies were really appreciated. I highly recommend staying here

Cottage In The Country

We had a wonderful 4 nights at Pigeon Cottage in Waihi with our two Corgis, Emma and Isla. The owners of this property are so lovely and very helpful. There was everything in the Kitchen we needed for Breakfast plus other treats. I would recommend this Bookabach to everyone who needs a quiet peaceful few days in the Country. Peaceful retreat

Dan and I have lived on this 3 acre property for 24 years. We are now both semi-retired and enjoy gardening, golf, boating, fishing, travelling and trying different wines. Having raised a family here, we now share it with Ed-the cat, Mia our Schnoodle and our free range chickens. Dan has planted a hobby vineyard and has built Amy Winehouse-where guests are free to come and use and enjoy the evening sun.

Why they chose this property

Wood Pigeon Cottage has been rented out for the past 3 years to many guests from different parts of NZ and overseas. Most people comment about the quiet, pretty rural setting with the easy access to many out door activities-particularly the Hauraki Rail Trail 2 kms down the road. With a free breakfast provided and the ability to use other options including a local restaurant, cafe and pub close by. Others are happy to drive into Waihi township-to other eateries, supermarket-or to venture down to a stunning restaurant on the waterfront of Waihi Surf beach
