About the host
Hosted by Anna Butt
Hi! We're Anna & Mark. We are city dwellers & are also big travellers, cottagers & love food. We own 3 dogs and love the outdoors & all the beauty that Muskoka cottage country has to offer! We are looking forward to hosting you & are always available to you if you have any questions or issues during your stay!
Why they chose this property
This is an amazing property that is quiet & close to everything in Muskoka! It has been completely completely renovated, with new hardwood floors, oversized windows, updated kitchen, bath and laundry facilities. Cottage backs onto Crown forest/wetland and is located on a quiet, dead end street, 3 minutes off of highway 11. We've furnished it with stylish, clean mid-century furniture. It's a close drive to everything in Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, Orillia & easy trip from Toronto.
The rear main bedroom has a Queen bed and one large window. The 2 bedrooms are on opposite sides of the cabin providing excellent privacy. The front bedroom with the Queen bed has a lot of windows, so you can keep the blinds up & feel like you are sleeping outside with the dark northern sky overhead. This room is especially cozy, as it's right around the corner from the wood stove.
The A-frame bunkie is everyone's fav. It's about 60 feet from the cabin and is heated for winter. It features a Full bed, 16' ceilings, lots of windows & is completely private for additional guests with a large deck.
There is electronic keyless entry for easy in-and-out at any time of arrival or departure. We have high-speed Wi-Fi and a TV with Apple tv, Netflix. Stream music with Google Nest mini or listen to tunes on the retro stereo that plugs into the earphone jack on your phone or iPod (iPhone Lightning attachment as well).
The outside space includes a new Muskoka room attached to the cabin, so you have the option of being outside without swatting for mosquitos & a great place to set up your laptop :) The bunkie deck is elevated and almost always sunny. The property is very well treed, and still gets a lot of sun in the clearing. Stretch out on the new L shaped outdoor patio lounge set & enjoy the new Coleman bbq.

What makes this property unique
The cottage has forced air heating for a warm floor feeling & it's very well insulated with lot of shade in the summer making it very cool inside. There is also a wood burning stove with plenty of wood on site. We have a great new 6 person cedar barrel electric sauna. The sauna is a great addition & it heats up really fast. It's also so relaxing to sit by a great fire or lie on the hammock in the sun or under the stars.
A 5 minute drive (10 minute bike ride) brings you to a large, beautiful public beach (Nagaya Beach). There's parking and two floating docks to swim out to. It's sandy out as far as you can touch your toes & it's great shallow entrance for kids. There is both sun and shade at the beach. We have a lightweight canoe and two new kayaks with the necessary accessories for your use as well as board games, a stereo, Apple TV etc.
We are just off of Kahshe Lake, which is the 4th largest in Muskoka. It's full of islands to explore, generally shallow, and is great for fishing. We encourage you take the canoe/kayaks with the trolley out to an uninhabited island for a day if you're feeling adventurous with a picnic! If you plan to go boating, please note there are many hidden rock formations underwater in one section of the lake, so it's best to consult a nautical map before heading out.
Also nearby are many great hiking trails like Torrance Barrens natural preserve and the falls at Bracebridge & lots of great swimming spots. Santa's Village in Bracebridge is close by & great for the kids. We have many maps and brochures for things to do in the area available at the cottage. Gravenhurst has a great wharf area with restaurants, shops. Hop on the MS Sequin to take an amazing boat cruises, or check out Port Carling for other cruises. Muskoka has lots to offer in terms of fishing, boating & swimming!
