A place to lay your head
Craftsmanship of the tiny house was done well. It met our needs as a place to sleep after spending the day on the beaches of Mabou and Inverness. A few expected amenities were missing….no top sheet on the bed leaving only a heavy duvet. Given the extreme heat it would have been nice to have a sheet to cover yourself with! And no facecloths in the washroom. The only other issue was the water; it had an extremely unpleasant odour, although the owner did tell you not to drink the water.

Long live the Mayfly!
Very calm and quiet location, this cute and very clean tiny house is well equipped and welcoming for a nice relaxating stay. The mini woodburning stove is the cutest thing! Rob is a charming host and was very helpful. We really enjoyed winding down for the start of our summer vacation at the Mayfly

The little house was fine. However, the property was not properly maintained; wild bushes, undergrowth, weeds. No access to the lake. Impossible to enjoy the surrounding property. Drive was narrow / difficult to turn car around for leaving. Overpriced with hidden charges. Should not be a separate cleaning charge. The property was overbooked, and through no fault of our own, we were left with 2 nights rather than 4 nights…but we’re not re-I’m used for half of the cost. Completely unacceptable. We will never return there and will let our friends and family know of our experience

I run my vacation home rental business since 1999, came across the Atlantic on my sailboat and immigrated in 2012 to enjoy sailing on our 70-square-meter sailing catamaran with our guests on a modern 12-meter (38`) catamaran. We love to explore the numerous dreamy bays, swim and get our dinner ourselves, fishing mackerels and collecting mussels.
We love to share our enthusiasm and joy and want to cooperate with you to understand your needs and wishes and to tailor the best possible experience, on our Trimarans as well.
We can, for example, admire the beautiful bald eagles flying above us and the stunning sunsets.
Do not hesitate to talk to us if we stay in our Sailor`s Rest House nearby and have time for your and our stories....

Why they chose this property

Although it’s easily accessible from West Lake Ainslie Road, it still feels secluded with a private lake access in the backyard. A picnic table and fire pit gives you all the camping feels, with the luxury of going to bed in a cozy cabin that’s hooked up to power and running water. Because nothing is better than a hot shower after a day of hiking, we’ve got you covered with a small bathroom equipped with shower, sink and composting toilet. Cook your own meals on a simple but sufficient two burner electric stove in our kitchenette or take advantage of a handful of restaurants in Inverness town.
A small staircase, that also serves as bookcase/storage leads up to the upper the loft, where the bed is located. Two windows on each side of the loft create a beautiful cross breeze in warmer summer nights and if you’re lucky the loons will put you to sleep with their evening calls. The newest addition to our accommodation is a modest outdoor deck that wraps around the front of the building. Come enjoy your coffee in the morning sun!

Although we understand the desire to see as many places as possible when on vacation, we highly recommend people to stay with us for several days. Let your mind come to rest and get a good sleep! We would love to be the place where you come to rest. Deep dive into nature and forget the day-to-day hustle for a while!
