About this property
Ski In, Ski Out! Cozy Mountainside Townhome at Purgatory Resort - Edelweiss #7
Ski season is here, and your winter or spring break getaway is clean and ready for you at Purgatory Resort in Durango, Colorado! Our beautifully furnished condo is the ultimate ski in, ski out experience! We now have a brand new, expanded back patio as of Fall 2020! Pop those skis off and take a break on our brand new, expanded deck before getting back out there for a few more runs!
At Edelweiss #7, you're walking distance from the Purgatory Resort Village, where you can enjoy summer and fall activities including the Alpine Slide and the new Inferno Coaster! If mountain biking is more your speed, you can easily bike down to the chairlifts and uplift to the top of the mountain!
For some more casual summer and fall fun, there are plenty of hiking trails that you can access just by walking out the door, and even more within a few minutes driving distance. At Purgatory Resort, we're just up the mountain from historic Downtown Durango where you can enjoy shopping and fine dining.
During your stay, try out a day trip to the charming Silverton, Colorado, a former mining camp with plenty of history or Animas Forks, a ghost town which was one of the highest mining camps in the U.S. For the real history buffs, you'll be able to make a day trip to Mesa Verde, an ancestral home of the Pueblo people who made their homes in the sides of the cliffs at this truly spectacular archeological site.
As far as accommodations go, our unit comfortably sleeps 9 guests, assuming the king and queen beds are being shared. The downstairs master bedroom has a king sized bed, with another king sized bed in our first upstairs guest room. The second upstairs guest room has a queen bed, and there are two more twin beds in the upstairs loft perfect for the kids!
The newly renovated kitchen is well stocked with cutlery, cookware, and new appliances including a dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, and electric stove and cooktop. We even have a Crockpot and a Keurig mini, which were some special requests from some previous guests. For real coffee experts, we have a standard coffee pot available as well.
My brother and I (the owners) want to make your experience as comfortable as possible, so if there is something that you need that isn't shown as part of the listing, please don't hesitate to contact us directly through VRBO - we are happy to order anything from Pack-n-Play's to large casserole dishes to make your stay that much easier.
There's plenty to do at Purgatory Resort and in Durango, and memories to be made. If it's your first time visiting the area or if you've been coming to Durango for decades, when you stay at Edelweiss #7 you'll be part of the Edelweiss family! We look forward to seeing you in the mountains!
In the summer and fall the slope side location gives you a scenic view of the aspen woods behind the Edelweiss complex. Be on the lookout for wildlife, and even some mountain bikers coming through the trails in the woods behind the property!
FAQs:
Do you have access to the pool at the resort?
No, we are not members of the club at the resort so we do not have access to the amenities down at the lodge.
Do you have an outdoor grill?
Due to the high risk of wildfires in the area, we have opted to not have an outdoor grill.
Many properties say they are ski in, ski out. Are you actually on the ski slope?
Yes! This is the beauty of this property. You are steps away from the actual ski slope, and when the trails are open you are able to walk a few steps onto the mountain, put on your skis, and go directly down to the lift. You can also ski back around to the condo, no walking required!

About the host
Hosted by David Miller
Hi I am David Miller, owner of Edelweiss #7 along with my brother Daniel. We've been skiing at Purgatory Resort since we were babies (literally) and we're excited to have the opportunity to own this unit and share it's convenience and magic with other families who want to experience what it's like to stay right on the ski slopes.
Our family has owned another property at Edelweiss for over 20 years, and we're very very familiar with the resort, location, community, and Durango in general.
Please, if you have any questions about this unit, just send an inquiry and I will get back to you as soon as possible. This is truly an experience and opportunity you will not want to miss. Trust me, we've been coming back here for almost 30 years and won't be stopping any time soon!

Why they chose this property
Location, location, location. I can't say it enough! The ski slope is right outside your back door! You don't have to be 'stuck on the mountain' all day. No more paying a premium for lunches on the mountain, or skiing around with a heavy backpack with snacks for the entire day for the whole family. Just pop in the condo for lunch, or a quick bathroom break, and get right back out on the ski slope!
What makes this property unique
This is truly ski-in ski-out. This is one of only 11 condos at Purgatory Resort where the ski slope is literally DIRECTLY outside your back door. You don't have to hike up or downhill with your skis and poles when you're trying to get to the slopes. No buses, no cars, no hassle. You literally just walk outside and the ski slope is there.
A beginner route from the top of the mountain also takes you right back around to the back door. It's a truly remarkable ski-in ski-out experience. No need to walk far, just a few steps!
