I will start by saying that this property is in a great location right on the lake. My family really enjoyed it. Unfortunately it definitely needs a step up in the cleaning department and updating appliances and upstairs mattresses! I would want to stay here again if I knew it had a good cleaning and updated stuff.

Short stay
High water levels made dock hard to access but that’s nobody’s fault. Had good family time.

Beautiful Lake Home
Space Galore! It was so nice to be able to find a home away from home that had all the amenities we needed. It was a beautiful, quiet stay.
This was a perfect getaway for me and my five kids and my parents and my spouse. It was cozy enough and roomy enough we all fit and found at home in the back of the house sets the outdoor setting. We are looking for right on the lake, we are able to put our boat on the dock And kayak and fish all day long. We caught some monster fish. I’m definitely coming back again.
2nd Year Staying here for our annual Guys Golf Weekend and we love this place. The owner is extremely easy to communicate with and the house is always very clean.

Deep Clean Desperately Needed
The idiom "rode hard and put away wet" aptly applies to this rental. The property has been neglected for quite awhile as indicated by the number of spider nests both inside and outside. The rental needs a good deep cleaning and major updating.

Response from VrboOwner on 30 July 2025
From the owner: "Bill, we are sorry that you had some issues during your stay. Please know we have since been to the house and completed additional cleaning both inside and out, including a carpet shampoo. Also, after reviewing your feedback, we have scheduled a deep clean. You mentioned the property needs some updating. We welcome any specific recommendations that you have."
We had our 3 daughters and my parents with us for this trip and the house was so spacious I never felt like 7 of us were on top of each other. The neighborhood was full of really friendly people and we were reasonably close to all sorts of fun things. The grocery store was really easy to get to, there were a million dollar general stores nearby if we just needed something simple like a bag of ice, and despite the lake levels being higher than usual my girls loved playing in the water. The kids room with the bunk beds was right off the basement living room and there was a half bath down there so they felt like they had their own apartment.

Weekend Getaway
We had a great time. Kids enjoyed the water- swimming and kayacking. Adults also enjoyed fishing and swimming. We loved the big screened back porch, it was very nice in the evenings. House was very clean and had plenty of room. The downstairs was perfect for teenagers to hang out and our little one (4 yrs) wore herself out going up and down, She thought she was a big girl also. We would definitely recommend for a family.
The property was as described. The property owner went beyond most I have dealt with when issues arrived. I called about an issue and it was quickly resolved.

Great Family Vacation
Our family of six had a great time here. Plenty of room, comfortable, and felt like a home away from home. Cooked and ate many of our meals in the kitchen, and spent a rainy day watching movies on the big Roku TVs. We spent time just up the road at Barren River State Park, walking and running on the paved bike/hiking trail, playing on the three different playgrounds, and taking in the beautiful views of the lake. Took a tour of Mammoth Cave 40 minutes north (our original reason for choosing this location), and even took a day trip down to Nashville about an hour and a half south. It’s beautiful area, and this house was a great private place to enjoy a week as a family.
We had a great time at the property. The house had everything we needed. Pretty views and close to a lot of fun things to do. The host was very responsive to the few questions we had. The only real issue we had was with the next door neighbors blasting their music extremely loud and partying until almost 3am our first two nights there. I know this is not the fault of the host, but it was annoying trying to sleep. But overall we had a nice time!
This was the perfect place for a family vacation. Check in was easiest possible. Plenty of room for the 7 of us. Well stocked kitchen. We had everything we needed to cook and eat at the house. The downstairs area was perfect for the kids. They loved having their own space. We never needed the hosts but when asked questions they responded quickly. We checked out the Lost River Cave at their suggestion and the kids loved it. We will definitely be back! I cannot thank you guys enough!

Great hosts, but property needed maintenance
Our hosts were very accommodating and let us know about some maintenance issues they needed to take care of. They graciously provided breakfast for us one morning to make up for those issues. Quite a few items were in need of repair or maintenance like the keyless entry, shelves in the refrigerator and toilet paper holders, towel holders and landscaping. The home has a nice layout for families with two separate living areas and TVs. The closest grocery store is about a 15 minute drive and there’s a nice breakfast place on the same road, but only open on the weekends.
Cool, older property with a freshish interior rehab. Right on the lake but LOTS of steps to get down to it. A fresh deck and stairs makes it nice. Multiple decks for chillin' and good fishing right off the docks The property owners and neighbors are super cool about letting your kids swim and use the floaties, kayaks, etc. Property owner was excellent with questions. Only feedback is the interior details need some attention: just little stuff like the toilet paper holder and towel racks need to be re-tightened and perhaps mounted better. Nothing broke but some of these fell apart and just needed re-assembeled and or tightened up a bit. same with the dinning room chairs - just older chairs needing some re-gluing and or screws to tighten them up. Aside from these VERY MINOR issues - 9/10! Would highly recomend!!

Nice!
We love staying in the house at Baron river the house was very clean and roomy and it was close to our family and friends. Thank you!!
Veru easy process to reserve and check in. The only partially negative thing wss no access to the garage. I had my fisbing boat with me and would have neen more comfortable being able to park it inside
Very clean, spacious home. Tons of room. Loved the kayaks and spike ball. Enjoyed yours of the caves while staying here-about a 40 minute drive. Also loved Kentucky Down Under. Would highly recommend this house.
