We love this area, this was our 2nd spring break here with the kids. Perfect quiet beach town and this house was amazing in every way! Loved it can’t wait to come again!
Loved having the hot tub especially when a snow storm came through & a water main broke so no water for 3 days. House had comfortable furniture and screened in porches that we enjoyed. It’s only about a mile to the beach which has a bike trail with benches. Town is a short drive with great restaurant choices.
Our family had a great stay at the Barefoot Cottages. Having the pool right outside our door was perfect, our kids used it everyday. We also traveled to different beaches each day: Cape San Blas, Mexico Beach, St. George Island, all were in an easy drive. The house had everything we needed and more! It was perfect for our family of 6.
Super clean and well stocked house minutes from the public beach. It was a great escape for us and we enjoyed staying here. Port St. Joe is so much quieter than PCB but still plenty of restaurants and shopping if you desire. We had a little trouble with the gate codes but received helped shortly after asking. Overall a great getaway!
Great girls trip! We enjoyed the property it was clean and comfortable especially the beds. The location was great and we even got to enjoy the pool that was steps away from the front door. The owners have thought of everything even coffee, creamer and sugar was provided. We highly recommend this property and will be telling our friends/family about it. Thanks again!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Port St Joe. The cottage was clean and conveniently located by the pool. The two screened in porches were perfect for reading and relaxing.
The restaurants in the area provided tasty meals. We especially enjoyed Krazyfish and Uptown.
We spent one day at Cape San Blas and fished at the public beach. Caught plenty of whitings! On the way back we had a delicious meal at Thd Smokehouse.
Great place! Great location!
This was our second visit to this cottage and it was just as clean and comfortable this time as our December stay. Everything was in proper working order with the exception of the kitchen light fixture probably needs bulbs. We didn't cook, so that didn't bother us at all. Great communication with the owner and we had a great time.
Property was exactly as described! Well stocked kitchen, blankets, and even TVs in each room. Place was pretty clean when we got there, just a little dusty. It was great for our family of four. Even had beach towels to use! The bathrooms connected to each bedroom were clutch! AND the Keurig coffee maker with a hot plate to keep the pot warm was great too. We aren’t coffee drinkers, but the host had several tea options too. What a win for us!My only complaint was that when we arrived, my allergies flared up due to the dust and the air turned off. Once we turned on the AC and air was on for a day, all was well!

Perfect family getaway
This cottage is perfect. Two full bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs with a half bath downstairs. The kitchen is well stocked and the dining table has more than enough room. The living room has ample and comfortable seating with the perfect place to relax after a long beach day. The best part is the upper and lower screened in porch and balcony that is perfect for your morning coffee and afternoon beverages. The beautilful pool is literally steps away and so refreshing. There is a great beach/park area with restroom a half a mile away that is perfect for the family and relaxing. We will definitely be staying here in the future. Thank you for a great anniversary getaway!

Loved our Getaway Cottage
My husband and I love the Port St Joe area. We decided to come kind of spur of the moment this time. We chose the Barefoot Cottages because of the close proximity to the downtown this time. This was our first time renting one of these. The reviews for B17 ( Manatee cottage ) were so good, and we can say that we agree! So very clean! We never saw one bug, dead or alive inside ( I hate bugs ). Nicely decorated, comfortable and homey. Being off season ( Feb ), it was pretty quiet, even at the pool ( which is right in front of the cottage). Everything from the first, check in to check out went smoothly. We would definitely stay again!
Convenient location, wonderful accommodations, prompt communication
What a great stay! Love that the pool was just steps away from the front door. You never know what weather is going to be like on the gulf coast. Because of the tropical storms brewing we spent more time at the pool in the complex. It was a lot of fun. The kitchen had all the basic needs, the Keurig coffee maker was dual meaning it had a full pot and individual servings. A Grayco playpen and booster seat that was provided came in handy with our visiting granddaughter (toddler). Plenty of linens in the house, including beach towels (maybe 5 or 6). The house was ready prior to checkin and clean. We were thankful. Had two burned out lights upon arrival and Scott handled it in record time. Our only complaint has nothing to do with the house, the Piggly Wiggly was hard to shop because of the influx of vacationers I’m sure. Be warned if you want something specific, bring it. All in all a great vacation despite the storms. (Shipwrecked - Mexico Beach- was great for breakfast & dinner. The Keeper was a great dinner spot) a great little town to visit. 6.20.2024
We and our two teenage daughters had a great stay! The Forgotten Coast is the perfect place for a family that likes to read and take long walks on the beach, eat out a little, shop a little, and watch some movies together at home.
This cottage is the perfect home base for those activities. It is very clean, spacious, and welcoming.
It's well-equipped with bedding, towels, beach towels, dish soap, hand soap, bar soap, dyer sheets, stain spray, cooking oils, basic spices, and enough dishwasher soap, laundry detergent, and trash bags to get you started. It's a full kitchen with all the pans, silverware, knives, measuring implements you need and more than enough plates, cups, and bowls. My family loved the coffee bar--Keurig and regular, sugar, cream, etc. I loved that there was good English Breakfast tea and a selection of herbal teas--we tea-drinkers usually get shafted with just a couple Lipton bags. This owner thought of practically everything!
The cottage is just a 3-minute drive from Windmark Beach, which is beautiful and also had few people on it. There are other beautiful beaches, including a few state parks, within driving distance. The location was perfect--no premium for beachfront, but were still able to run off to the beach to quick see the sunset.
One note: you will hear road noise from the porches, but when inside the house you can't hear the kids in the pool or road noise unless you're really listening.
We were sad to leave and we hope to return regularly.

Beautiful Vacation
This is our 3rd year staying at The Barefoot Cottages for our family vacation. This cottage was beautiful and somehow felt cleaner than the other two we stayed in. I did try and use the little vacuum cleaner to get up sand I tracked in and it was broken. Thankfully there is a broom and dust pan there as well. The only two things I looked for and couldn't find was a big stock pot and crab leg crackers. My son wanted me to cook crab legs for us. We had St. Joe Shrimp Company steam some crab legs for us for pick up instead and my husband used the kitchen shears to crack them. That worked pretty good! DG Market nor the Sunstop had crab leg crackers. I'm sure you could purchase some at the seafood market, we just completely forgot to ask. So, overall, we had a great vacation!! I love the atmosphere at the cottages and the ability to go to different beaches due to their location. The other two years, we weren't near a pool and didn't even look for one. This cottage has a pool right in front of it, which was fun. I will say, my husband wanted to use the hot tub but I highly discouraged it due to how nasty it looked. Other people's germs and hot water scares me anyway. The trees around the pool keep it all pretty littered with debris and bugs. We saw someone cleaning the pool in the morning time. I know this is lengthy but we definitely plan to stay again next year!
