The place is exactly as advertised. Cozy retreat, nothing fancy, and a great location for Mt. Dora. The only hiccup was the parking. It wasn't clear to me where the host wanted me to park. She wasn't very nice when clarifying. Unfortunately, the parking isn't next to the cottage but on the other side of the property. I do understand why--she doesn't want people to fall into the pool. My concern was where my car needed to be parked was too far away to hear if my car alarm went off.
Small but quaint. Perfect for a couple looking to stay close to Mount Dora.

Mt Dora Review 8-23-2025
Exactly as described! Perfect for a couple. Kitchen was complete enough to make a huge batch of baked Rigatoni. Bed was comfy loungers power reclined and the air was cold on hot days. The pool was cleaned daily and wonderful. Great parking. Private fenced back yard. Literally minutes from cute downtown Mt Dora. I will stay here the next time we visit my Dad.
I already did this survey. It was wonderful. STOP sending me surveys for the same place multiple times

Disappointed
We were disappointed that the host never came to greet us. She knew we were Deaf and it would have been nice if she had greeted us. It seemed so strange we never saw the host. She was right next to our little cozy place. The place was nice.

Hi Karen, we’re sorry to hear the space didn’t meet your expectations. The homeowner shared the following:- The listing photos are an accurate representation of the cottage, which includes a set of French doors and multiple windows with blinds that can be opened for natural light.- The outdoor area features a private pool, dining space, gas grill, and fireplace, providing additional room to relax and enjoy.- While we didn’t receive any direct feedback during your stay, we always encourage guests to reach out if there are any concerns so we can help in the moment. We appreciate your feedback and hope you were still able to enjoy your time in the area.
The a/c does not cool the room efficiently, so it made for a hard two nights of sleep. There was a lot of outside noise that contributed to the lack of sleep. (party at the house behind the unit, people talking loudly in the lot next to unit) It is a cute and clean unit although very small. The mattress was very soft. The pool was nice and clean. Check in was easy, and the communication with the owner was good.

Hi Sheila, we want our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we’re sorry to hear that sleep was difficult during your visit. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:- The mini-split A/C is just a few years old and has a manual in the cottage—it's working properly, but we're sorry it didn’t meet your expectations and would’ve been happy to assist if contacted- The lot next door is home to another short-term rental with an outdoor sitting area, which may have contributed to the noise- We’re glad you found the cottage clean, enjoyed the pool, and had a smooth check-in and communication experienceThanks for taking the time to leave your review.

Why Poor?
Getting an economical place to stay does not become adequate consideration for a place far below the standards of economy motels.

Hi William and Jean, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this wasn't the one for you. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
Upon your arrival, we were committed to ensuring your comfort and satisfaction from the moment you stepped in. We assisted with your luggage and promptly responded to every request, whether it was for additional supplies, refreshing the patio furniture, or providing guidance on using amenities like the mini split and TV. Our guests' comfort and convenience were our top priorities.
Additionally, we'd like to clarify that the entire mother-in-law suite was updated in 2021 and 2022 and is in excellent condition.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us, as your feedback helps us ensure a better experience for future guests.
The pool house was absolutely lovely. I really enjoyed my stay but I thought it was above and beyond what should be required if you're going to charge me $80 to clean you expect me to strip the beds and take the trash out. This will cause me not to come back even though I enjoyed my stay here. I know it's not the homeowner's choice. It's VRBO but that will cost you return visitors
Nice little cottage, that worked well for my husband and me. We’re walkers, but it was a bit too far to walk to downtown since there weren’t sidewalks and it was raining off and on. Comfy seating area, nice kitchenette with good set up for coffee all ready to go. Could easily have cooked meals! I’m sure it would have been even nicer in pleasant weather to use pool and grill! Plenty of towels and a nice step in shower. Could use a few spruce up touches…repair TP holder, add some shower soap, etc, but worked for us.
Overall the property was as advertised. Marcia was very responsive to any requests and communicated very well. The unit was small but comfortable. The recliners were nice. My only issue was that there is no sidewalk to the unit (walk over sandy soil with tree roots), and the floor seemed like it hadn't been mopped (socks became especially dirty after walking on floors). The location was great with all of the amenities you would need. It's close to downtown but in a quiet neighborhood with restaurants very close by.

Awful
The worst experience ever. The woman had a cat on the property and in the unit and my girlfriend is allergic to cats. She couldn’t breathe and her throat swelled up. We texted with the property owner to come out of her residence to speak with us but she declined. We had to pack up our things and leave without even staying one night of our two night stay. We want our money back.

Hi Wayne, we're sorry to hear that your stay did not meet expectations.- The cottage was fully remodeled in 2022, and no pets have been inside since that time. While there is an old pet door, it remains locked. Additionally, we have a strict no-pet policy for the cottage.- We understand your concerns and directed you to Evolve, which manages refunds. Despite your use of the space for several hours, a full refund, including the cleaning fee, was granted.- As it was late at night, I did not feel comfortable meeting outside but remained available via text.We strive to provide a comfortable and welcoming experience for all guests, and we appreciate your feedback.
