Enjoy the view from an expansive, private deck, or while you relax in the HOT TUB on the lower patio; dock your boat along the 30ft floater; sunbathe on the oversized dock or take a refreshing swim; picnic at the gazebo near the dock - You're sure to cherish your time at Ancora Point!

For time inside the home, enjoy the 20ft atrium great room with floor to ceiling windows and comfortable couches and watch TV on the flatscreen.
There are 2 bedrooms on the main floor; a master suite with king bed and bathroom w/tile shower & soaking tub. The second bedroom offers a queen bed. There's also a half bath nearby to the bedroom and great room.
Loft features a full bath and a balcony overlooking the living room and a breathtaking view for miles of water.

On the patio/ground level there's 1 bedrooms and 1 flex room - 1 with a king bed and the other with a twin. Family room offers a foosball table, ping pong and pool table + TV. Full bath also located on the lower level.

From the ground floor, walk out to the gently sloped lot to a HUGE yard with gazebo near the water. You're sure to spend much of your time sunbathing on the gazebo deck as well as the large dock, and swimming from the dock and the floater. Dock house and 2 kayaks available for use.
With deep, clean water and prime location at Marker R8 on the main channel, this ideally situated home is a memory-making waterfront property you won't want to miss - at sunrise, during the day and at sunset each night. So DROP ANCHOR here at Ancora Point on Smith Mountain Lake!

SML was beautiful lake. Drop Anchor was a fabulous house with amazing views and all the emenities we could need. The house was well maintained, clean, and well equipped. The dock was a great place to sit in the morning with a cup of coffee and a good book as well as to sit and enjoy the magnificent sunset. It was a great place to stay.

Beautiful scenic views. The property is very close to the lake could use some minor upkeep/ repairs. Management was very reliable when answering any questions regarding the property. Overall experience 4 stars.

The house was invested with squirrels. We didn’t sleep well they were running all over the ceilings and walls. We should have been offered another place to stay. The rental agency knew the squirrels were in the roof/attic. There was mold on the ceiling from all of the squirrels urinating on that spot. The one bed room smelled like urine we had to spray cover sent.

Thank you for your review. I’m sorry that you all did not enjoy your stay. Unfortunately, we did not know the extent of the issue with the squirrels in the attic prior to your arrival. The property was occupied throughout the summer with no mention of a problem. It was only just before your arrival that we were alerted that we may need a wildlife specialist to visit. If we had known just how bad the issue was, and that it would prevent you from enjoying your stay, we would’ve absolutely offered for you to stay at another property. It was only the evening before your departure that you told us the extent of the issue that you all had been experiencing… Immediately after your departure, the wildlife specialist did visit to rid the attic of the squirrels and seal off the areas where they were able to gain access. The area where the squirrels were located was then thoroughly cleaned by a specialist. We’ve also recently visited the property, spent some additional time inside (aside from the normal property-check), and could not find any signs of a wildlife problem. We hope that you will consider our agency when looking for a future lakefront getaway!

Great family time at SML!

Wonderful family time at this beautiful lake home. Great views from deck, family room, and dock. Very comfortable accommodations. Linens and bath towels provided was very convenient. Kids loved the game room and kayaks. Would definitely rent again.

Beautiful Property

This is a beautiful lake house. Our family of 6 had plenty of space and the house is nicely furnished with a well equipped kitchen. We spent our days on the dock and the beach area is perfect for little ones. We had a wonderful week!

Tranquil stay

The house is lovely and comfortable. The lake views are beautiful. We enjoyed our stay very much. The only negative was I asked specifically in advance if there would be firewood at the property to use in the firepit and was told there would be. There was no firewood anywhere on the property.

Long Weekend Getaway

too Many rules, regulations and threats of charging extra

The house and property was nice but there were too many rules regulations and threatening of charging extra it made it a very unpleasant experience and the owners decided to charge us an extra $500 on the last day because apparently neighbors stated that we had more occupancy than the required amount which was not true. We booked for 6 and only has 4 they tried to say that neighbors said we had a lot of people at the house and too many cars in the driveway(only 2) we eventually got our deposit back. I would not recommend this house.

We actually did refund the $500 once we cleared it with the owner. Yes all of the lake if this way, not just this home. The neighbors on all of the lake monitor their neighbors homes for compliance, since the laws have been in effect now for over 20 years. It does also make the lake alot nicer - since there are no parties

Broken Hot Tub But Had a Great Time Anyway

Great location and beautiful property. The only reason why we gave a “4” was because of the broken hot tub. We sought out this property for the hot tub and were told it was in working order, so we were very disappointed on the first night when we found that it was leaking. The management company wasn’t able to have anyone come out to fix it but we did get some money back for the inconvenience. Regardless of that issue, we had a great time and enjoyed our visit to the SML area. It was a nice weekend getaway for a couple who never gets away.

We are very sorry, this hot-tub broke on your time at the home. The previous guest had a working ho-tub ( just 24 hours before ). Yes unfortunately , when you notified us on a Saturday, ( the tub worked for you the first 2 nights )the hot tub company was shut down , and there is not a company that comes out for repairs on the weekend. ( we are very rural here ) . The hot -tub companies owner also had a direct family member pass away and was at a funeral ( which he told you on the phone ). So this is understandable. Again we do regret it broke on your stay- but we have no control over these situations. The hot-tub is working now, the company was able to get it fixed during the week with parts that needed to be ordered as well.. Thank you again for staying.

Good rental, needs a little work

If I could give this a 4.5 out of 5 I would. It’s a really nice place, and the property management is very organized and responsive. From what I can tell this is a newer rental property, and it’s in the process of being updated. The good: - Entire place was very clean when we arrived. - Location is great. Centrally located and beautiful views. - Large updated kitchen with plenty of cooking supplies. Large dining table and stools. - First floor master is very nice and the master bath is probably the best feature in the house. - Beds were all very nice and comfortable. - Ground level floor is nice and has tons of games and things to do for young kids. - New was washer/dryer The not-so-good: - The dock (and steps leading down) is in need of some attention. Several nails/screws sticking out, areas of wood rot, etc. - Windows in living room leak (a lot) when it rains. - HVAC is tricky. Very good in general living area, but not great in bedrooms. And bedrooms do not have ceiling fans. (Luckily they had two stationary fans we moved into the bedrooms) Loft area also gets pretty warm. - Some things were just broken or not working. (Master bedroom doorknob, fridge ice dispenser, one of the upper deck sliding doors, etc.) - No trash cans or garage. (Not unusual to not have trash pickup on the lake. You have to drive your trash to a local dumpster abt 15 mins away)... BUT, without any covered trash cans or a garage to store your trash, you have to take several trips to the dump, otherwise you end up with smelly trash in the house). And you can’t leave it out at night or the animals will get into it. - Internet was very very slow The property management was really responsive. When we noticed an issue, all I had to do was email them and they had it fixed by the same time the next day. (Example they fixed the doorknob, and removed or replaced the nails on the dock) I would expect this rental will continue to improve over time.

Exactly what one envisions when one thinks Lake House...

The house was clean and spacious. The views alone are worth the trip and every memory made. We rented a pontoon from the Marina less than 1/2 a mile away (Parkway Marina) and tied the pontoon over night a couple nights to the large spacious floating dock. The dock area has plenty of room to spread out and sun, fish and find some shade when needed. The boat house made it easy to leave all of our "lake stuff" down there with our fear of anything being lost. There were large carp under the dock and we enjoyed fishing from there as well. By boat the location is 15 minutes to the dam and the coves in that area. Lots of great memories made! Deer visiting morning and night every day! A peaceful and beautiful retreat!! The trip up and down from the house to the dock is not as steep as we've seen in other homes. There aren't many stairs but you do have to walk on a slight grass hill to get form the house to the stairs. A great vacation!
