Merewether is renowned for its relaxed vibe, quirky characters, and legendary surfing beaches.
Beginning at Merewether beach, only a short 800m walk, is the Newcastle’s Bathers Way, one of the premier coastal walks in NSW. Stretching 6km from Merewether Beac to Nobbies Beach, it showcases many famous sites along the way including the iconic Merewether Ocean Baths, ANZAC walk, Strezlecki lookout, the Bogey Hole, Newcastle Ocean Baths, and finally Nobby’s Lighthouse which overlooks Fort Scratchley.

Family in Merewether

Great location, perfect spot for the wife, me and 2 adult kids. Never been to Newcastle/Merewether before. Flew into Sydney, drove up the coast to catch some waves. Laid back beach town with a definite blue collar vibe. The cottage location made it easy to get to the beach on foot and short drive to amenities. Would stay again and again. Thank you, host was very attentive.

Every detail has been considered

We had the most gorgeous stay in January with family and our two children. The house is beautiful, yet practical. Two lounge rooms and indoor and outdoor eating areas are ideal for everyone to have a bit of their own space. Literally every single detail has been considered. The kitchen and laundry has everything you would need for a week a way with a load of extras that go above and beyond. The welcome goodies upon arrival is so generous and thoughtful. The house is a short walk to the beach and lots of cute cafes around. Thanks for our lovely stay, a highlight of our month holiday as it felt like a home away from home.

NY family holiday

Our first family holiday with 2 babies and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sable & Rocco. Leanne and Rob were extremely accommodating and we felt at home at the property. The location was as excellent , close to cafes and pubs in Merewether. A nice walk with prams to Merewether Surfhouse and beach. Short drive to Queen Street Wharf for the New Years event. Felt at home and comfortable in the home. High quality renovation provided best comfort with spacious rooms to set up bedside bassinets. Communication from Leanne and Rob made check in and all processes comfortable. Highly recommended for families and adults traveling together.
