Very poor experience
After booking our trip through VRBO, we realized that we would need to stay in Rio for one more week due to family matters. The host told us to go outside of VRBO for this extension, and pay it directly to her when we got there. When we arrived at the apartment, Tania was very kind, and walked us through the apartment, which was very clean. However, after she left, we started hearing extremely loud banging coming from the walls. We were told by the concierge that the apartment below us was under renovation, which had started one week before our arrival and would not be finished for another several weeks. The construction was happening daily Monday-Friday from 9-5pm, and we had to leave the apartment during the day in order to rest or have a conversation due to the extremely loud noise. A significant amount of dust from the construction site made its way into the apartment every day, which led me to develop a severe bronchitis. I was so sick that I had to see a doctor, and was prescribed a course of antibiotics and cortisone pills. When I made the host Tania aware of this issue, she stated that it did not cross her mind to mention the ongoing construction below us and to please forgive her. My husband and I feel as though we were deceived, and our health and safety were not made a priority. In order to rectify our terrible experience, I am requesting a full refund of our stay, including the additional six days that were paid directly to the host Tania Lucia.
