We loved Happy Valley House

We went to a wedding in Ballard and this was the perfect place to stay. The owners were very accomodating and the house itself had so much to offer. Our stay will be a part of fond memories for years to come.

Nice stay at a quaint house.

Jon was very good at communicating details before and during our stay, which we appreciated. This ended up being a better location than we first thought - once we discovered the 17 bus stopped at a nearby corner and helped with the commute to the downtown area. Be prepared for stairs - we knew there were stairs from the pictures and description, but didn't realize there were quite so many to get into the house!

Plus, if we didn't send out information beforehand, many of our guests would get lost finding our place, as it can be a little tricky (we can't tell you how many Uber drivers have gotten lost!). I guess we need to make clear that there are bus lines close by—there are several bus lines within a 5-block walk. And yes, for those reading this, we do have a number of stairs, but we do hope you'll find it's worth it! We do hope you'll consider staying with us whenever you are in Seattle."

Little piece of paradise

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. The house was lovely. I was here with my family celebrating my 60th birthday we had a great time exploring Seattle during the day and how fabulous to come home to this sweet little sanctuary. Everyone had their own space to relax in. I loved the kitchen (the windows :) coming home and cooking our purchases from Pike market. Evenings out by the fire ring were so sweet and relaxing. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others. Thank you for all of the extra touches that made our trip more special.

The cottage was perfect for our family, from games and toys for the children to thoughtful amenities for the adults. Enjoyable getaway

My son, daughter-in-law, their 14 month old toddler and I stayed at this lovely home. It was very comfortable and everything was provided for our needs. It did take a little bit of baby proofing for a one-year-old on the move, but it was well worth it. it was close to everything we wanted to do, including a trip to the zoo

Fun...fun....fun

So enjoyed this place. Lots of nostalgia to explore and have fun with. Superb location to the beach and downtown Seattle, as well as the zoo. Older home with the laughable squeaks some of us grew up with. Fit our family of 4 adults, a baby and a toddler perfect. Lots of entertainment for the 4 yr old. Hosts, Jon and Kara were easy to deal with and very accommodating. Very relaxing area. Nice remodel upstairs Would love to return sometime.

Loads of Fun

Fabulous and quirky house full of nostalgia and really fun art. Loved the house for our family. The upstairs was such a neat place with a beautifully remodeled bathroom. The whole family could fit. Lots of good vibes and squeaky charm. Jon and Kara are wonderful hosts and easy to connect with. Our 4 year old granddaughter wanted to stay longer and the 9 month old baby slept great. Can't say enough good things. The location was excellent and easy to get to the beach. Try it out if you like some old fashioned fun!

Really Fun Place!

This was our second time staying at Happy Valley, and it was just as great as the first time! Jon & Kara are very responsive hosts, and try their best to think of all the little things that go into making a great experience for their guests. We loved having a nice outdoor area and plenty of room to stretch out inside as well. This is not a cookie-cutter hotel type of place; instead, it is a house filled with color, creative personality, nice furnishings and a sense of humor. It is a very special place!

My sister and I turned our concert trip into a weekend getaway for our family! My niece (10), Nephew (14), and mom joined us and we LOVED the house. Lots of communication and information about events in the area, there is a scavenger hunt in the house to help entertain the kiddos as well as plenty of space to play games and relax. There were so many beautiful parts of the home as well as the cool snails outside and beautiful greenery! It did rain, as expected but did not dampen the quality family time. Grocery store is also close to the home as well as a great coffee shop!

Comfortable house!

This house served us well (couple and kids who took the upstairs, grandma who took downstairs). We are a family who like to cook together which was ok in the small sized kitchen but we would have liked some more pans to be able to cook a dinner and better knives to prepare it. Kitchen would become higher points with attention to a coherent set of dishes, pans , knives, cutlery and essentials. Kind touch with waters in fridge upstairs and down and great coffee setup. We felt welcome.

Magical Treehouse

This home was breathtakingly beautiful as we walked in the door. Each room we walked into we were all awed by how much character we saw. Also very tastefully decorated and everything that we could of ever needed was there and easy to find. The notes on how to work things were very much appreciated. We all were very impressed with how soundproof the home was also. Once you get past the beauty of the home and go out into the yard you are again amazed at the beauty. There are so many pretty trees, flowers, bushes. Looking at the house from the yard you feel like you are staying in a cute treehouse.

If you are not familiar with the Seattle area at all and are looking for a quiet place in a great neighborhood, this is the one. The hosts are extremely responsive and communicative and have taken great care to make sure that the place is equipped with interesting and unique touches. It really does feel like you are staying in a home, rather than a sterile setting, which some rentals have a hard time achieving. The owners are clearly genuine and nice people and that goes a long way when you are staying somewhere unfamiliar.The location is absolutely perfect. The property grounds are beautiful and serene. The back patio has ample space and is great for dining. The surrounding neighbors are respectful and quiet. The house is really close to a wonderful park with a great beach and it was otherwise extremely easy to get around Seattle from there. We very much enjoyed the neighborhood it was in (Ballard) and the many bakeries and coffee shops nearby. Getting to and from the downtown area was also a breeze. The only critique I had was that some items need replacing or a little more TLC.However, we had a wonderful time and enjoyed our stay in this quiet, peaceful, convenient stay with great hosts in a beautiful neighborhood.

Even more special than anticipated

Quirky and entertaining additions throughout the house/ property keeping things interesting. Whimsical decor, along with fine art and rocknroll memorabilia. Despite it being cold an rainy, ( we are PNW residents so were not surprised or concerned) the place was warm, inviting and beautiful. Close to Golden Gardens , Ballard, the aquarium and pike st market and far enough away to be able to decompress after being around so many people during our day trips. Communication with Jon was a a breeze and he was always responsive to our questions. We will probably make this our regular place to land any time we go back to the area.
