This place was so private and peaceful! We had everything we needed. Joe is an excellent host and went above and beyond for us! We caught rock bass, crappy, sunfish, perch and northern pike. It’s remote and most of the time we had the lake to ourselves!
It was wonderful to get away to the beautiful surroundings of Minnesota. Quiet, serene, tranquil. Mid-July was definitely a time for biting insects, but apply Off and enjoy the lake.
We had everything we needed and more. It was nice to stay at a listing that took the extra step to provide things like trash bags, tp paper, and paper towels.
Can't say enough positive things about the owner and communication. 10/10 for sure!
Would definitely stay again if vacationing in that part of the US.

We loved the quiet peaceful atmosphere in the middle of the George Washington State Forest. The 4-H wheeler path of a road to get into the property was very rough terrain even with a pickup, the outlets in the kitchen did not work to plug any of the cooking elements into, we had to plug them in to the outlets by the patio door. When watching movies the remotes barely worked. We wished it was closer to town, as it was a half hour or more to go anywhere.

Hi Kirstin, we’re glad to hear you enjoyed the peace and quiet of the cabin, but we’re sorry other aspects fell short of expectations. After sending your feedback to the owner, we’d like to clarify the following: - The road leading to the cabin is noted in the property description as requiring a high-clearance vehicle. While this makes access a bit more challenging, it also contributes to the serene and secluded environment that many guests appreciate. - The GFCI receptacles in the kitchen are required by code and can be sensitive. We wish you had reached out during your stay so we could have resolved the issue immediately by guiding you through a simple reset. - The TV remotes are functional but may not be as intuitive as newer models. The homeowner is looking into replacing them with a universal remote to simplify use for future guests. - The listing includes a map showing the approximate location of the home and its distance from town. To ensure our guests make informed decisions that align with their preferences, we strongly encourage them to thoroughly review our listing before making a booking. We do all we can to make our homes the best possible stays, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.
Honestly, we talked about this on the ride home. My husband and I rent a lot of cabins for many vacations. This one by far is one of the most tranquil spots with modern luxuries we have found thus far. We laughed on the way home about not reviewing just to keep it to ourselves. The fishing wad so good my husband never got to put his rod in the water as he was too busy taking off my fish 😄. The pontoon, cabin, tiki bar, and amenities were above and beyond what we expected. If you want pure beauty on a lakefront setting, this is the place. The owner made every attempt and effort to make sure our stay was flawless. Hope to return in the near future.
Let me start out by saying that this is a GEM of a find in Minnesota, if you like to have a secluded lakefront cabin! I do recommend that you have a high clearance vehicle and if it has been really wet, I recommend a four-wheel-drive vehicle. I would NOT take a low car down that road. The cabin is very clean and the grounds are well-maintained. The kitchen is well equipped with everything that you could need. The beds are comfortable and the couches are comfortable and even recline. There is a TV with a VHS and DVD player. There is a big fire pit in the yard and a nice tiki bar on the deck. The pontoon and dock are very nice for fishing. The fishing is very good on this small lake (only a couple cabins on the lake), we caught walleyes, northern pike, bass, perch, crappies and bluegills. It was nice having a fish cleaning house, because the mosquitoes were thick. I do suggest bringing a bug jacket with you and bug spray. I HIGHLY recommend this vacation location, we will definitely go there again!!!
